The HD channels will only available if you are subscribing to the specific package.

Example:
If you want to have HBO HD and Star Movies HD, you need to be a current subscriber of the movies package or else HBO HD and Star Movies HD won't be available.

not that simple..if ur a person who is interested in high quality pictures, then go for Byond, if ur more concerned bout the channels and pricing, it be better to stick with what u got right now

it is..even if u are using the most cheapest or smallest sized LCD or Plasma TV, u will feel the satisfaction..especially as u are into Movies and Sports..plus u will get the free HD Preview channels too..AXN BYOND HD, AXN HD, FX HD, LI HD, ONE HD..so yeah..its worth the RM20..

still can use old cable..if more than 10 years already, better change..but if you dont want to, still can use

I got mine installed last Saturday after putting in an application about a month back.

Installer called me on Thursday to setup appointment and got it installed within 30 minutes on Sat itself. Activation was done on the spot as well. Installer need to called Astro CS to do some verification and get a code to enter.

No hassle at all really with my installer. Btw, i'm staying in Cheras Maluri.

Takes a month because Astro was doing some upgrading, supposedly for 2 weeks but somehow i took a month.

Well, the installer told me he was out of job for a month becoz of the upgrading. Also, i think when the installer is setting up ur decoder, INSIST to get the activation done on the spot or u will not sign the form.

Some had their Astro SD upgraded to HD but after installation even SD also cannot watch. So i guess as a customer pls insist u want the screen viewable after installation. It should not take 1 minute for activation.

yay. just change to astro beyond today. the fella change everything. cable, satellite, and mine got activated at the same time. less in 30 mins, all been setup nicely. 

  that is dish, not satellite.
If you want to take out satellite, you need to have something like this
Or in more extreme way, like China & US did. But with satellite in Geo orbit like Measat, it will be more difficult at 36k km away 

Astro movies are mainly older movies available elsewhere in even higher 1080 resolution. So why bother?

up to you lorr.. if u r a big sports fan..then dont cancel.. but if u only tune in to sports now n then i suppose u can cancel it.. but be prepared to miss out on all sporting events.. if u can tahan, juz think of it as an extra meal at a fast food joint for the family a month, and just pay for the current package lorr.. one pizza also RM30 alredi, so juz imagine u buy one pizza for your family every mth.. then enjoy both movie n sports..

Astro screwed up their system during upgrade, subscribed for b.yond on last week but no installer assigned yet. Auto Debit also got problem, they debited my card but my latest statement was not updated! I'm going to make noise if they terminate my service.

I've been waiting almost 4 weeks for B.yond. Just like Danny said, they screwed up the upgrade. My assigned installer was nice enough to tell me not to install and activate yet because the activation process might fail.

Still waiting until today.................

My home already have astro.
So now my father is planning to change the decoder to beyond version but don't want to activate HD.
How much will he'll be charged for the decoder replacement & is it possible for changing decoder without subscribing to HD(plan to stick with SD)?

Yes, you are right.  If you change your billing cycle to yearly and your billing date is from now till 31dec2010, then you can save on the 6% service tax for 12 mths.

Updates :  Astro system is currently down now.  It is nationwide.
