nope, I am surprised you didn't know, all astro SD channels are encoded in mpeg2, therefore TLC is in mpeg2

Too many convert process will reduce quality of video. 

I think astro just convert it to MPEG2 for both decoder (Normal & Byond).

you can't improve on SD channel picture quality by simply using mpeg4 if the original source is crappy, as they said rubbish in rubbish out

Life Inspired + Food Network Asia cannot be count as 2 channels.    

I think measat 3a is used to beam to India and could not be anticipated for local beaming. Bollywood tv seems to be an IPTV type of network not normal Tv

No idea ,but Bollywood Tv is u pay first then you get the streaming.

What little I've seen of IPTV's in Malaysia suggests that it's for people who like SD and HD-lite - or can't tell the difference.

Astro's strength is not IPTV or the potential of IPTV. It's the exclusive broadcast rights and the wide area in which it can operate. I've said it before in my dissection of YTL's plan for Yes IPTV. It can only work when you have enough signal repeaters on the ground; otherwise it can only cover high population areas only.

As far as the LAN port is concerned, I wished that Astro would allow the transferring of the recorded programs to the home network. But hell would have to freeze first before that happens.

MUMBAI: The Malaysia-based Astro All Asia Networks (Astro) and Turmeric Vision (TVPL), the television company owned by Sanjeev Kapoor and Alyona Kapoor, is gearing up to launch food concept channel – FoodFood.
The JV between the two companies will mark the entry of Astro into the Indian media broadcasting industry.
The company is looking at FoodFood as the most "gastronomically loaded lifestyle" and entertainment concept available across TV, mobile and web.


The company said Monday the TV channel is scheduled to go on air in early 2011. It will be in high-definition (HD) and will feature Hinglish content that will be produced and packaged in India, making the shows relevant to the Indian audience.

HINGLISH mean: Hindi+English=hinglish??? 

MEASAT Helps Solar Shines Like A DIVA

The new channels are distributed through the MCPC network in the Philippines via the MEASAT-3 and MEASAT-3a satellites.

NBA Premium HD is a television specialty channel in High Definition that is dedicated to showcasing the sport of basketball in the United States. Both DIVA and NBC Universal are owned by NBC Universal Global Networks. DIVA and NBC are television channels specializing in movies and television series in the thriller, drama, comedy, crime and investigation genre.
