I wonder why the hurry for 3D now when HD itself is far from satisfactory !!
*
QUOTE(minimize @ Jan 14 2011, 03:07 PM)
Yeah, I'm agree with you. Asstro should focus on HD channel instead of 3D.
For asstro first, I think they main target is for Kelantan state customer because no cinema at there.
*
Aiyo, last time when launch HD you all said "Astro super late, everybody have 3D, Astro only now want to start HD"

As for me, I'm happy that they start early as as can all start commenting on it and if they listen, maybe by the time we all have our own 3D TV, they fixed what needs fixing.

QUOTE(smileguy @ Jan 14 2011, 03:14 PM)
Until now Astro does not want to confirm that all movies on AF wld be the same Cinema version shown at cinemas. What I worry AF on astro cld be shortened. What u guys think, cos even in ABO we do notice this sort of hanky panky. This is a business tactic to protect each other interest too. hmm.gif
*
I believe Astro and Cinema have different standards when it comes Censorship. I remember this one article in newspaper people are complaining about Astro's Censorship. The YBs are saying since Astro is the only Pay TV Operator, they have the Civic Duty to not show things that are inappropriate for Youngsters and etc unlike the Cinema. So they wanted Astro to and a more Stringent Censorship guidelines that the cinema. The article was published back in mid of Last year.

Not quite, I have this one China brand TV, wege or something....don't have the code there. When I called Asstro CS, they managed to give me 3 codes to try, surprisingly, the first one I tried worked instantly!

Thanks!

That's for normal 2D HDTV. For people with 3DTV... hmm.gif

The 3D effect is great..although I'm a big fan of 3D and sports. I never consider the 2 of them to be a match made in heaven

What I can say is the animation effects of the...the swoosh thingy when there are replays going on...is superb

For your info, last year I already go to astro CS at damansara together with my decoder. But they not check my decoder at all and say this problem will fix when new firmware update is release. But after a few version firmware is release, this problem still happen.
*
Yup,

Pls reply the PM so I can forward it to them. Not sure if they will visit your place or not but I believe they would like to understand firsthand what seemed to be the problem and try to reproduce it themselves.

I was pretty amazed that standard program on B.yond hooked to HDTV via HDMI looks much better than the older decoder box showing the same SD program using component.

Not sure what is causing this noticeable increase in picture quality for SD program. Is it because:
1. The B.yond is a better box than the old box?
2. Or is the HDMI doing some amazing stuff?

Except for some SD program showing some very old program, all the newer made SD program is very very nice indeed.
*
It really depends on your TV. Certain TVs have really poor scaler wehn it's being fed with SD programs. With B.yond Box, if you choose a 720 or 1080i, the box will scale the pic to the corresponding resolution and it'll most probably looks prettier if your scaler sucks.

As for me, My old TV was kinda suck at upscaling the pic but my new one that I just bought a couple of months ago. Have infinitely better upscaling that the B.yond Box.

Same Panasonic 50U watching SD program. With old Astro box hooked with component cable, SD sucks big time. With new B.Yond box hooked with HDMI, amazing and not losing much to Astro HD.

So my question is, it is the magic of B.yond or HDMI?

BTW, I haven't began exploring the B.yond box, you mean we can select 720 or 1080 output to TV?
*
Magic of B.yond together with HDMI as only thru HDMI can teh upscaled image be carried to the TV.

Yup can change 720p or 1080i. go into installation settings and HD settings to change it.

I support ur point here all chinese shld be united by one common language Mandarain and  all Indians  sld be united  by a common laguage Tamil. This fact has been accepted in Spore.Sad to say here as far Indians are concerned it is still NOT possible and they are against Tamil ! In spore  if u are Indian Muslim, Malayale or telugu (just like cantonese,Hokkien  etc ) u take tamil as second language ! brows.gif

Nah...let's all unite under Bahasa Malaysia. better....right?

I have a 3 Astro accounts under my name. Applied to upgrade to Byond for 2 of them last month. After 1 month, they can only install 1 Byond and activated after 2 days  mad.gif . Another account still pending for installation. It is more than 1 month. I think it is a record now.

What is worst is that they cancelled the wrong smartcard/account! Resulting my mom cannot watch Astro for days. Her decoder has not changed to Byond yet. Many calls have been made and yet they can't seems to correct their mistake.  vmad.gif

Lapaq.. I think you should take the credit when due for helping those astro victims here... Shouldn't be thanking Astro since the issue is created by them and it is their responsible to ensure no such inconvenience to their customers.
*
True enough, what I meant was to thank the specific Astro staff who are helping us here as well as the one calling the people in trouble in this forum. Those Installers who are creating most of the problem here won't definitely get any thank from me. smile.gif

From that sentence, I can smell that you're worked as something important at Astro...
Probably Customer Service head of department??  brows.gif

Yeah, HOD indeed. A HOD who spends his time on LYN forum. tongue.gif
QUOTE(jalsrix @ Jan 29 2011, 12:01 PM)
If he is customer service head, he should resign bcos most of us know customer service in astro SUCKS !

I complained about those FIXED subtitles in channels such as AXN, Discovery channel etc since 2006 which obscure the viewing screen.

Until today, nothing is done to remove it into closed caption.
*
Yeah, he should definitely resign because you have said so.

QUOTE(gahpadu @ Jan 29 2011, 12:35 PM)

Most welcome...I'll send the thanks to the people who really deserved it.

He joined in 2008. His words of wisdom are few and far between, judging by his post count  rclxms.gif

To be fair, lapaq seems to be a nice bloke and has helped quite a few people out. Perhaps Astro should just stop hiring not-so highly trained monkeys to run their technical department. laugh.gif
*
How sure are you that I'm a bloke? brows.gif

Newsy guys, dun la fight...let's all be good Samaritans and be nice to each other okeh.

This is what I call 'true wisdom'.  laugh.gif

By the way, are there any complaint forms receive by Astro customer service, and most importantly, do they ever ACT on it.

I remember last year, I went to astro office in bukit jalil. Lo and behold, I met this angry customer...

He complained about how poor Astro service is, how the manager don't reply to his phone calls etc after numerous complaints made.
*
I don't know...but isn't it their job to act on it?
