Just to play all the movie I download

I have been using WDTV Live for many years already. The most stable player and so simple to use. I have the 2nd Gen which I just sold it and its been running for years. Play everything including the highest bitrate bluray and mkv i throw at it. Only disadvantages is it doesn't play RMVB but i don't really care about RMVB as the quality is really bad.

If you want a simple and reliable player, look no further than the WDTV Live...simply the best.

One more thing I am so surprise is that WD still provide firmware for the 2nd Gen WDTV Live which is almost 4 years old. Now even the 2nd Gen can support WDTV remote apps on iPhone and Android. Now even if my WDTV remote conk out, I can still use my iPhone and iPad as my remote control. Awesome!

WDTVLIVE ada netflik tak?
*
Yes, but the quality of Netflix on WDTV Live is not very good. I have try it and not impress with the quality.

I am now using the Apple TV 3rd gen for my Hulu and Netflix. The quality is awesome with my 4MB streamyx line and some movies even have dolby surround. The user inerface on Apple TV is so much nicer too.

Still no support for rmvb?
*
WDTV use sigma chipset which will not have RMVB playback. Anyway, rmvb is low quality so why bother.

There are many good reasons why rmvb is important. You probably won't understand  tongue.gif

Too me, rmvb is crab and I won't bother to understand why can be good.

Had my WD TV live for almost 6 months now. Couldn't been happier. I've been streaming from my home build nas server wirelessly effortlessly. smile.gif

Plays all kinds of video formats i throw at it with glorious DTS-HD sound. 30gb++ bluray rips ftw! Highly recommended.

WDTV Live do not support DTS-HD or master audio passthru. The last I know is that it supports only Dolby HD passthru.

Are you sure you getting DTS-HD from WDTV-Live?

I have been a WDTV user for many years but I have move on the HI -Media due to the lack of Support for DTS HD passthru support. And also Hi-Media Android player has much more features than the WDTV such as PPS and many Live TV programs.

Hi. There's a new update recently a few months ago that allows the DTS-HD passthrough. Could not be happier.

As for the tv programs, i don't really use it to be honest. I just need a plain simple device that streams high profile .mkv from my server.

Oh thanks for the info. I should try it later.

Thanks for the response smile.gif

Yeah, I'll try a new cable.

Regarding the audio, now what I'm doing is converting the audio of my files to stereo using ffmpeg, qaac and mkvmerge. None of the settings worked properly, converting the audio files worked best for me now smile.gif

I got the info from: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=168267

Best is get an amp that support DTS and Dolby

With so many android TV box out there, I don't see a reason to buy WDTV anymore. There is just so much more you can do on Android TV box plus all you can do on WDTV
