Official: BlackBerry Bold 9000 & Curve 8520 OS 5.0.0.1036

It was about a week or two ago that OS 5.0.0.1036 had leaked for these devices. Now, both the BlackBerry Bold 9000 and Curve 8520 are getting this OS as an official build. We’re certain we’ll probably see the Curve 8900 follow close behind.

Its just a platform of OS only doesn't matter which Telco we are in, we still can update as long as we are updating the correct OS to the correct model of BlackBerry...

for me it's safe or better using the file download file..
no worried for the internet problem or etc...
since using DM.. take more than15-30 minutes..

p/s: it easy.... download.. install to ur pc... delete vendor.xml and just follow the installation guide..

Hi.

This is probably a very lame and stupid question to ask but I am just wondering if I were to update my OS (currently using .681), will all my third party apps get wiped off as well?

you can always do backup of all your apps and contact. the easiest way is using BBSAK for backing up apps.

Its a BETA version from RIM, so whenever you are on BETA OS and you plug into Desktop Manager it will automatically prompt for update if there is newer BETA version that you are using now...

Sorry for the late reply. I just connect my BB to PC, then open my DM and it show "update available for your device". And i click the "update my device" button, then the process start. It backup automatically then download the OS. Its around 15-20 minutes only.

I think its only replace some parts. Because my device ver. 5 already, not 4.++...

been using it for a about 2-3 days now. What I noticed besides the charging bolt animation is the battery life has improved quite a bit. Other crackberrians say that the thumbnail icons in the photo gallery are smoother too.

A leaked version is like a beta version or a pre-production version which is not finalized. It's built by RIM smile.gif

Hybrid OSs, however, are modded firmwares by users to get the best built in every firmware and then compile them to make a "hybrid"

Curve 8520 OS 5.0.0.1036 Leaked

After OS 5.0.0.1036 leaked for the 9000 and 8900, it seemed like only a matter of time until the 8520 version showed up.
Well today is your day Curve users! While you may be feeling like your device is being left
in the dust with the launch of the 9300, it should feel nice to know that RIM is still diligently developing OS's for this device.
Dive in and let us know how it's running!

Is your OS in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files??

You need to delete the original ones on it and replaced with the one you downloaded before you and install to your BlackBerry..

But before that remember to delete your vendor.xml files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

After 12 hours of very heavy usage and stuff I've noticed compared to the Rogers .900:

-Browser way faster an previous builds, very happy with this!

-12 hours of heavy usage (almost my whole day) down to 50% which is awesome

-Reboot time is a bit slower than .900 (which was the fastest time IMO) but its all good

-Wi-FI connects really fast

-Fewest amount of video video buffers in other words videos stream smoothly i.e. YouTube

-Funny thing I've noticed right away, volume "rocker popup" looks messed up but its all good as long as it gets the job done

-19 3rd party apps and 9 native apps down to 20MB after a battery pull (gained 5MB) and after 12 hours down to 14MB (don't know how much memory before apps installed because apps restored while update was in progress)

-Performance is very fast/snappy, so i'm very satisfied with that

-Cant comment on the sound issue because i'm on vibrate all the time

Overall super happy with this leak, nothing bad to say about it and will keep u guys updated of course as I notice any new things. Oh yeah and definitely would recommend it!

If you feel your current OS is good then you may not need to do so unless it got bugs and you found got problem using it then only update...

Leaked OS 5.0.0.1049 BlackBerry 9000

user posted image
It was rumored that OS 5.0.0.1049 had become ‘gold candidates’ for the 9000, 8900, and even 8520. Now, this OS build has dropped for the BlackBerry Bold 9000. No word on this builds performance, but we’re sure it has to be better than OS 5.0.0.1036, that leaked not long ago.

*DISCLAIMER* – This is an unofficial RIM software release. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk! BB Leaks is not responsible for any malfunctions or abnormalities that may occur.

This may help although I have not tested the "input" part yet. This is from the .380 leaked OS. I got it all Zipped up but the file is 9.1MB which is over the limit of attachments in the forum.

After some searching... I managed to upload it to my 4shared account. Here's the link:

CJK_CODS_9700_V380.zip

Just unzip the file. Copy the CJK.ALX file above the java folder where all the rest of the ALX file are and the CODs within the java folder. Re-run loader after that and you should see the option to add the East Asian font support and Input.

Upgrading Procedure for an Official OS release is as follows:

1. Download the OS and install it on your PC. (Make sure you have already removed any older OSes you have installed on your PC by going to Add / Remove Programs in Control Panel)

2. Delete the vendor.xml file (located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader)

3. Backup your 3rd party applications ( optional recommended step )

4. Connect your BlackBerry to your PC and right click on a file named Loader (located in the same place where you found the vendor.xml > C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\Loader.exe) and select '' Run As Administrator ''

5. Follow the prompts and make sure you select the languages and applications you wish to be installed.
The Loader will backup and restore your data by default.

Still Having Issues !!?
I would recommend using BBSAK to Upgrade, so

- Uninstall the OS(s) you already have installed on your PC
- Delete the folder (research in motion) in ( c: \program files\common files\research in motion )
- Restart your PC

if u have the luxury, i'd suggest the 9000 as your 1st Blackberry.

reason? the 8520 keyboard is a little small and you'll often landed up pressing wrong keys and its a little uncomfortable to use (the keys are like 'piercing' your thumbs, unlike 9000 which is a bit flat).

Anyone can help me...
i was updating this OS 5 form this link -
"was about a week or two ago that OS 5.0.0.1036 had leaked for these devices. Now, both the BlackBerry Bold 9000 and Curve 8520 are getting this OS as an official build. We’re certain we’ll probably see the Curve 8900 follow close behind.

Download Curve 8520 OS 5.0.0.1036 from:

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry....919D2074E"

and i cannot update it because it say that "one of the modules error" ..

- Restart your PC

it happens to my 8520 before.
so i uninstall unnecessary theme and apps, then apply default theme.
it works.
but i don't know exactly why.
probably themes/apps not compatible with OS.
but if u wanna try, remember to backup first.

like...
5.0.0.1168
5.0.0.1682
5.0.0.1713
5.0.0.1385
i dont know which one should i install?
is there anything like baseband or what not like iphone?
like 4.3.2 for GSM and 4.3.5 got Verizon?

but i've done some research
in swdownloads.blackberry.com
maxis, digi and celcom also having 5.0.0.1168
so i guess i just use this one instead?

i'm helping my friend to upgrade but i scare i break his phone
later he makan my iphone i die.

I still recommend using v5.0.0.1036 rather than those newer versions especially .1067

for 1067, I had to charge my phone almost everyday, Facebook always crashes (unable to marked prior opened in messages and then it crash lol) and coverage hard to get EDGE.
