QUOTE(Kiding @ Sep 29 2017, 12:14 AM) Paradox VDMP3 module work with Unifi VOIP, I'm using it, alarm trigger will call my phone and I will be able to use phone to disarm or arm and also know which zone get triggered. I would recommend you get something that works with GPRS GSM module and runs on apps or even SMS. I find the Unifi unreliable. for example, what If the thief would to cut the power supply of your premises? I'm sure alarm system have a backup battery even they try to break-in, the alarm will go off but communication to your phone relies on UniFi and Unifi modem require power supply. Meaning that no power supply for your UniFi modem means no communication/notification about your alarm triggered. Recently I've attend ISF 2017 back in last month, the future of alarm system will be using your phone android / iOS thru their apps and cloud system to notify your alarm status and controlling your system. No more phone calls or even sms. Just push notification on apps. Making it more user friendly.

QUOTE(Kiding @ Oct 5 2017, 08:00 PM) Put an UPS for Unifi BTU and router, issue resolved! I have UPS for backup power for all network switches/router/BTU/IPCAM Alarm system relying cloud or internet for notification is alternative, the best way is having both for redundancy. but sometime UniFi will fail, and having an UPS is ideal but leads to another device to maintain (UPS battery replacement) The new solution is having a global SIM GPRS module which the SIM card built in have connection to 3 network (Celcom, DiGi, Maxis) and it has auto network switching if any network fails. Isn't that more reliable?

QUOTE(Kiding @ Oct 5 2017, 11:38 PM) That is good but it is costly, UPS doesn't have monthly bill anyway, my unifi is pretty reliable, downtime is less than 10 hours a year, so I think it is good enough for me Is annual fee less than rm 200. Way reliable than using unifi and ups Supply.

QUOTE(thailover @ Oct 6 2017, 12:44 AM) Phone calls will be here for another 10-20 years. Tried phone app type back in 2015 till now the product is still not mature yet. Even dial up phone call will be sticking around, time have change. now is 2017, everyone is talking about Cloud service. Every customer wants to use phone apps to manage and control their alarm system. It gives them lots function to play with. Is getting better as years goes by.

QUOTE(yllew03 @ Oct 8 2017, 02:24 PM) Hi Jimmy, so which alarm system would you recommend that works with GPRS GSM module and runs on apps or even SMS? The latest from SUPA alarm which is model LS8 which is cost effective alarm system with the most basic bell and whistle system for the protection. It comes with 8 zones hard wired with expandable for another 8 zones with expansion board. Home automation feature ready with additional board requirement. Standard feature comes with PSTN call in and out alarm system control. But that wasn't the main point, it has SClould GPRS module package which is a small GSM global sim module which you can download the alarm system app (iOS and Android) to control and check status of your alarm system with voice interactive menu. The GPRS module annual fee is RM 175 (not inclusive of GST) which is way more cheaper than subscribing your monthly Data Plan via GSM. You can download the app to view what its featured "Scloud"
