I plan to install alarm to my new house but undecided over wireless or wired alarm? Which one is better if we take the price out from consideration.
My biggest concern for wireless alarm is the battery life, how long it can be used before need to change the battery? Any insight on this LYN forumers?
Thanks!

QUOTE(weikee @ Jun 28 2011, 12:05 PM) Wire is always better. Get an alarm system with smoke detector too. why you think is better? Can give your POV?

QUOTE(Serofax @ Jun 28 2011, 03:29 PM) got wireless motion sensors. wiring involved for wireless alarm, is just the power lines for the control panel + external siren box. so far battery life for each sensor i'm experiencing is approx 1.5-2 years with indicator. You mean even wireless also need to hack the wall to conceal the cable? Added on June 28, 2011, 2:46 pmQUOTE(weikee @ Jun 28 2011, 01:56 PM) A good wireless sensor battery life can last typical 24 to 36 months depend what type of sensor. Motion sensor required more battery power. Replacement will be really costly, can you imagine changing 20 Lithium Ions battery? Assuming RM 15 for one battery, you do the math. That is assuming you have 2 motion sensor, and 12 shock sensor. If you have more you buy more. My knowledge in wireless alarm are limited, i know more on Wired cause my friend do for commercial and bank. I'll say a good wired alarm system with good wiring are maintenance free. For wireless maybe just a simple system is ok, for entire house coverage wired are better. Thanks weikee for the explanation. RM15 per battery serious? How come the wireless alarm salesman tell me each battery is only RM2.50?? This post has been edited by escargo75: Jun 28 2011, 02:46 PM
