QUOTE ALL Haswell laptops with the MQ processors CAN be upgraded. If it's HQ, no. Warranty wise... er... keep the old proc for warranty claims and be very "skillful" and leave no traces. So, theoretically if say a gt laptop with 2nd/3rd gen cpu cant be upgraded to 4th gen ? ( or gpu wise) As for GT, I'm not so sure. At least last time they come with MXM slots. Nowadays not sure, I know for a fact that higher end Illegear lappies can be modded for the same reason, but MXM cards are rare and expensive to begin with. |

QUOTE no... and yes as long built on same architecture let say nanometer ivy-bridge can be up to haswell as long mobo is upgrable as you say GT series yes both CPU/GPU is upgradable but remember to add better cooling or upgrade copper heat sink also and yes better Thermal paste... here video show you cpu/gpu is upgradable and easy to be maintain... GT780 part 2 note: if u watch video i dont reccomend wash heat sink with hot tab water..lol i rather use compress air unless you have heat ray like guy in the video... interesting stuff. i never thought that someone would wash their heatsinks like that. Anyways, concerning the upgrade, i dont plan on doing it myself ( looks complicated and i am clumsy ) so I will probably send it to a professional. Should be cheaper to upgrade the cpu/gpu rather than purchasing another gaming notebook rite? This post has been edited by zaicon: Aug 22 2013, 06:01 PM |

QUOTE(Unseen83 @ Aug 22 2013, 06:02 PM) yes... theory GT60/70 was meant to last long... as it upgrade capability. this still limit to the hardware that is available, remember once you upgrade cpu/gpu warranty gone (service center if in doubt they may check bios history see cpu/gpu is difference this is why they store win 8 key detail in bios... ) this is my humble opinion and i am noobZz Well, the upgrade is definitely after their so called "warranty". Since everyone is about the Haswell hype, I thought to probably give it a try in the future. |

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Aug 25 2013, 09:23 PM) What laptop do you want to upgrade? Not sure about the "newest" MSI laptops, but MSI HAVE been upgradable in the past. Motherfather. thats freaking expensive http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/GX620.html http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/MSI-GT60-VGA-Up...b-/121046303983 It's not gonna be cheap though. BTW, its a MSI GT-60. My concern was upgrading the CPU (I thought it was possible) but knowing GPU upgrades are also possible is a plus. But the upgrades looks complicating, so thats why i prefer using a professional |

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Aug 26 2013, 05:15 PM) They actually do. I just asked PrinceJ for a quote for Killer 1202. Price is oooookay ler, but at least I don't have to wait for US slow shipping. Thats good to know. BTW i was strolling on ebay, and found "i7-3920XM" for RM1.8k . I wonder if Illegear sells this as well.QUOTE(horns @ Aug 26 2013, 05:51 PM) Indeed it is This post has been edited by zaicon: Aug 26 2013, 05:57 PM |

QUOTE(@skyhawk@ @ Aug 27 2013, 05:57 PM) is it ok if choose gs70(not msata) and upgrade it myself... msata 128gb and 8gb ram... I think cheaper rght... The non-ssd GS70 is already equipped with 8gb ram. IMO If you are gonna replicate the ssd-option specs, might as well get it, and its in super raid configuration, Try asking jacky quote you a special price Edit > QUOTE(storm88 @ Aug 18 2013, 08:24 PM) ram slot is beneath of keyboard. u need to remove the board only you can access to ram. Btw it's not soldered on. According to XOTICPC's youtube review, opening the back cover might twist the chasis. Also to access the ram you need to tear down your laptop, and its not recommended for inexperienced users like myself This post has been edited by zaicon: Aug 27 2013, 08:42 PM |

QUOTE(@skyhawk@ @ Aug 27 2013, 10:41 PM) I mean add msata and ANOTHER 8gb...means total 16gb... To confirm, please contact MSI careline, they can clarify more on this. errr...not void warranty rght? is it super raid 64+64msata faster than msata 128gb? And generally, a twin 64 msata in raid 0 configuration is faster than a single 128gb msata QUOTE(noorimanyosh @ Aug 28 2013, 03:20 AM) hey guys...a question here...how much is the cheapest MSI branded gaming laptop??can recommend me one?? GE60-2OC, i5-4200M + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM3099,8GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8, steel series KB 15.6" |
