Just splashed on the new GT683 then being stupid and ignorant, i decided to check what other Laptops carried the same specs and

Toshiba Qosmio X770-107 - same spec in terms of processor and graphic card ( Might even be much cheaper then MSI )

and also i heard ASUS came out with a new version as well with the same specs. I'm thinking I should've waited. Should I have waited? Anyway, I don't think i'll be sleeping for a week. Too excited...

Guys, I'm in no way trying to spoil this thread at all. Also, apologize if it was rather harsh for me to put it like that. Definitely my concern is whether my hard earned bonus is well spent. I've been eyeing on MSI vs Asus for a while now and it's confusing as they both come out with good lappy's but i've opted for MSI because it looks like a disco machine and after reading this thread, am happy to find that it does have it's advantages. Still.. can't sleep this few days.. too excited.. it was suppose to be a 1 week wait but it seems that i'll have to wait for 2 more weeks. T_T

Also guys, I read a lot about Sager and how flexible it is in terms of changing GPU, SLI, Graphic cards and such but why are people still reluctant in buying a Sager lappy? Though i noticed that the warranty is not a Sager warranty but other then that, it seems to offer a lot. Is there a secret we normal ppl don't know?

*
when i went to low yat to enquire, they were quoting me that price eh... how la? RM7500 or less. I got mine for about RM6000.. definitely not 5k.. i know it says online USD1499 but conversion plus shipment is def more then that.

Honest opinion from this guy smile.gif , because he's not a laptop seller that's why he'll give real opinion for the laptop instead of praising it in order to push the selling rate

The Sager warranty is offered by Sager.

And a dealer warranty refers to domestic/regional warranty which is coordinated with US Sager headquarter to avoid global shipment for claiming warranty. But still, if serious problem occurs, still have to send over US. Eg: CPU, GPU and motherboard.
*
I see.. I think there's a safe bet that at least it is warantied by US Sager but the thought of sending it back to US. it will take a considerable amount of time before you get the repairs done and get it back. What is the average time it takes for lets say a graphic card issue to get it replaced and returned? I know this is something my dad would buy.. he's hardcore when it comes to beast machines and gaming.

I recommend not to take msi gt 780r now if possible because there's some problem with the keyboard actually , many people complain and i think msi is aware of it that's why i think they'll fix the problem for batch B , and also there's news regarding gtx 580m already , i think i'll wait and see whether msi will rebadged this modelw ith gtx 580m or not then i'll take it , but the first thing is the keyboard problem must be solve else i won't buy it
*
I think there will always be updated graphic card.. cannot chase this anymore.. Mine comes with 560m and already paid for it so I'll just suck it up and enjoy what I'll be getting. I think the 683R will last me hopefully 2 years at least to play my favourite games at least on High or Mid setting. So far the 560 cards benchmarking is pretty decent. Good thing I don't play much shooter games so my requirements are pretty low.

The reviews are amazing. I have to say i like the non gloss finish to the GT780R. How much do you think this will price at? Also, this website.. they benchmark every single laptop graphic card.. for real or not?

ya if u buy already then nevermind , haiz too bad la the keyboard got some problem , some problem is not every people experience , some is if you're attentive you'll notice(light some dimmer or brighter than the other) , so the first thing you get the laptop is to check the keyboard , check the light , check every key by typing , test it on every light mode , and some people get the model where they play song dunno which side will vibrate , better check on it whether it has or not , oh ya the speaker also check , hope it help much i just want all of us get the best we can get.
*
It's funny that the one of the feature is the keyboards which is steelseries. it shouldn't have this kind of problems given the quality. Maybe it's just some small badge released with manufacturing defects. I'll definitely check mine.. every cm... make sure no scratch, no defect no smudge.. finger crossed.. won't have a single problem. so far i haven't read anyone who's already got the GT683R. Does anyone have it already? Mind sharing something about it?

Dear Deckard Cain and lonelywolf90,
Would appreciate if you could share with me the Price and Spec you got for the units both of you bought. Since we are trying to focus in the Gaming Market, we will try our best in pricing wise. Such information will be helpful for us. Although very little can be done. Anyway a piece of information for you all, lately we appointed a Gaming Ambassador, Tan "Shizuma" Lyn Xhin. She will be given a unit of GT780 as part of our sponsor. Her unit is in our office now. If you are with us in Facebook, you should be able to see it. Cheers.

I think the pricing quoted locally when I approached a shop in Low Yat was pretty insane.. They quoted me at RM7400 for the same spec and it nearly gave me a heart attack. I was browsing for GT683R price online but thought I would go to low yat to save me the trouble of asking my aunt to buy it for me and pay shipping costs but when they told me how much it would cost locally, I was pretty shocked. I think I would've paid a little bit more but def not RM7400. Below is the specs that I've ordered :

CPU : Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM Processor (6M Cache, 2.00 GHz)
Memory : DDR3 1333MHz, 16GB
Graphic card : Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M 1.5GB GDDR5
HDD : 750GB + 120GB SSD
Optical drive : Blu Ray + DVD RW
LCD : 15.6" (1920 x 1080 FHD)
Battery : 9 Cell

and the usual ports 2 usb 3.0, 2 usb 2.0, 1 HDMI and 1 VGA. I just realized they are offering a better CPU at gentechpc which is the 2920QM but it costs a bomb. Btw, I did not buy it from gentechpc. I got my great grand aunt to buy it for me from the US and it cost about RM6500. Ironically she works for Mac in the states. smile.gif. Anyway, am hoping to see it being brought locally for a reasonable price. Am gonna poison my brother in buying the GT780R. It's time he got his laptop changed brows.gif

That's the advantage of buying gaming notebooks overseas. Their prices tend to be a lot less compared to the local prices, even inclusive of shipping and delivery costs. Although getting warranty for your laptop will be a b**ch though  biggrin.gif

By the way, may I ask what brand of SSD are they offering? Corsair? Intel? or something else altogether?
PS: lonelywolf90, STOP. POISONING. US.  tongue.gif
*
Yeah, sadly they're overpriced here. I can understand the amount of unit MSI is selling here hence some models do not make it and other retailers would take advantage by putting cut throat prices. I'm not too sure about what brand of SSD it comes with. I'll let you know when I do get it. Yeah the warranty's gonna be something I have to live with but so far I hear MSI is doing great on providing services. So shouldn't be a problem hopefully.

@viruz019 Good Luck on your new shop. Am gonna be regular but must give discount kay?.

Anyone here know where to buy an msi gaming laptop in kl? I'm interested in the gt683r. I'm only allowed to buy it cash and carry and not online.
*
The guys here should know but I would suggest you don't go to Low Yat to get it. They'll quote you at least RM7400 - RM7500 as I've experienced it myself. That is unless you got lubang there and know someone maybe then you'll be able to get it cheaper. I just got mine and I can say, YOU WON'T REGRET IT. biggrin.gif

Hey guys, sorry i haven't been on in a while. busy with errr.. starting own business and of course busy with my GT683. So i've read some of the posts on GT780. Going to racun my brother to get it instead. Could've got that instead but I'm using it for work as well and the GT683 already weighs a ton. Btw, thanks for listing my name in the proud owners list *wink*. i promised some screenshots but didn't have much time and forgot about it. Will have some on soon.
