Well back to Samsung TV LOL

My KS7000 (and in fact the previous LED TV ES6220 have this sort of weird problem with ARC (HDMI Receiver) for my HT-6750W

Occasionally it just refuse to pair at all so I ended up giving up and just use the Optical Cable.

However today I manage to revive it again. The remedy was leaving my HyypTV box to on instead of standby (once I put it to standby it stop pairing again)

ROFL weird ass problem.
*
I experience the same thing too and we are not alone as I've been asked such in the past by other forummers. There's something about the Hypptv STB that messes with the HDMI-ARC and HDMI-CEC connection between my Samsung TV & HT. For them to auto switch on or off, the STB has to be switched on first (or left on) before pressing the power button on the TV or HT remote to resume from standby. This weird issue only happens if the STB was powered on and used in conjunction with the TV and HT. Else, if completely powered off or left permanently in standby, no such issue.

Yeah this morning the whole HDMI-CEC (for every damn device) decide to unpair itself after working for a day.

So I turn off both HT and HyypTV STB (the STB is connected to my HT/BD HDMI in) and unplugged the HDMI 4 and wallah CEC works back after reboot.

Maybe I should just leave the damn STB plugged off permanently.
*
I rarely use it and so it stays off permanently. biggrin.gif

*
Only you can answer such... Some people only like new stuffs, others don't. IMO, same price and a 5 years warranty from say Harvey Norman? I'd take the 65"..

im ok with display set. just scare on the lifespan as it is maybe was on too long as it was 2016 model.
*
Such fear is normal. Which is why I pointed out the seller. If it's some random seller that I'm unsure of their extended warranty or heck, if they'll still be in business in 5 years?.. Then I'd skip. HM? Good.

Take some video samples and test the display for defects, can claim on the spot before taking delivery (store dependent).

Hi sifus, can i get opinions/recommendations for my future smart tv?

1. android tv or smart tv with android box?
2. which brand/model has good hdr?
3. will use mostly to stream shows or play from usb (dont have astro/hypp)
4. curved or flat screen? also, repair cost is higher for curved right?

ive narrowed it to sony android tv and samsung 6 series (budget <3k) but still unable to decide
many thanks!

You are posting in the wrong thread. No Samsung TV ships with Android TV OS.. It's either SmartHub or Tizen. Sony does equip some of its models with Android TV OS, depending on the firmware and hardware, it may be bad. Better to get a dedicated external player for such. There are dedicated thread for such external devices.. Can read all about em. If you still decide on getting a Samsung TV, then do so and buy an external device to hook up to it for added media playback (TV has usb and wireless media playback).

As for brand and model with decent "real" HDR, it's all about your budget. See few posts back for the popular model.

No idea on repair cost.. Most times whether flat or curved, the cot of repair outside warranty is so steep, might as well top up and get latest tech. Manufacturers have to make profits.. biggrin.gif

exactly, thats why it was either sony android or samsung smart tv with external device.
haha.
in regards to the repair cost..then it means better pay a few hundreds for extended warranty lah right..possible to get new one also
*
Good you are aware. Yup, for better peace of mind, wise to get an extended warranty. It's not everyone's cup of tea though. So be sure to get the extended warranty with a shop known to honor such during the extended warranty duration. No use paying extra only to find your claim being denied or delayed unnecessarily.

LOL after removing my HyypTV from my system the HDMI-CEC is all working again (My HT 6750w finally can detect as HDMI Receiver sound output)

But LOL after like a day plus of standby of the player, it decides to unpair all HDMI-CEC again hahahaha. Only can revive the handshake by removing HDMI4 cable. And then I change cable it will revive again, then died again after a few days.

I'm beginning to think it's my HT6750W also have problem with CEC handshake just like stupid HyypTV. Maybe it cannot be left standby at all LOL.
*
Haha... Mine doesn't exhibit such. Though, next sound equipment upgrade will have to be an AVR setup.. Done dealing with HTs. So much for them being simpler. Just plug in all HDMI sources into the AVR, let it sort out the audio and pass video feed on to the TV. A decent one might handle the whole HDMI-CEC thing much better.

Yeah I'm thinking of a Yamaha RX series (Dolby Amplifier). Perhaps maybe I just buy it first and plug in my existing HT speaker to cheapskate first until got budget to buy better speakers hahahaahaha. It sounds dumb though XD. But survey around holy crap tall speakers are so darn expensive (it easily can hit 6k for all 5 plus subwoofer)

EDIT : I do believe the stupid speakers cannot plug in to another amplifier without blowing up though XD
Merdeka sales is not bad, you can find some good deals smile.gif
*
I strongly advise against connecting HT-specs speakers to an AVR.. For one, most usually ship with proprietary connectors that don't allow for other common connections. For example, my previous Phillips HT 5.1 setup... I'm stuck with perfectly working speakers cuz the main player is broken. Couldn't get it fixed anywhere then. So had to buy a Samsung to match the TV. Did reno and had to cut budget for audio equipment. biggrin.gif Just keep using as is till it's time to change.. By then, tech should be more standardized and affordable.

You are referring to Samsung TV only or all other brands as well. My own experience is Samsung is the worst, my Pana Plasma still perfectly fine after 9 years and my LG LED still like new after 3 years. Samsung LED both display panel and speakers got problem after 5 years.

Still searching for my new 65" flat TV, so difficult to decide on the right one  sad.gif
*
I've experienced the opposite. Have 2 Samsung LED sets. One's at least 7 years old and still going as a daily monitor and the other is 3 years old.. Strong.

Hi guys...

Wanted to ask. I was about to receive my KS7000 TV and 65" MU7000.

1. What movie or graphic or setting should I use it to test?
2. If my player is 3D-enabled and playable, but my TV is not. Can I still watch 3D movies?

Please advise.
*
1. Switch to movie mode, pop a bluray disc and adjust movie mode settings as necessary.
2. No. You won't get the 3D effects.

Feet, meters, FOV, inches, resolution, comfort zone, bla bla... Last last, it's up to room size, requirements and BUDGET! Playing true 4K+HDR on a 60" 9 series is still far better than on a 85" 5 series. Whether sitting 6ft away or 12ft.. I say, judge your room size, lighting conditions, budget and with your eyes make a decision. My 2 cents.

Hi,  im having problem to have my 2.1 pc speaker working on my ks7000. No sound coming out. Tested on my laptop,  speaker working fine. Where should i connect the 3.5mm audio jack at the tv?
*
Look for a headphone port to connect to or get one of those headphones jack to composite/component adapters or cables. Try that.

QUOTE(avantasia @ Aug 25 2017, 08:57 AM)
Yes...that's the best among all the theory and reviews!
*
Yeah, Cuz what one loses in size, one gains significantly better pq and performance.

Pray tell, how you managed to connect your Speaker 3.5 mm jack to ks7000 when there is no 3.5mm output on ks7000?  doh.gif

I thought as much too as it's not listed as specs on samsung Malaysia's website. but seeing as I don't have the tv and he does.. I assumed he found one. biggrin.gif

60" and 6 ft away meets both the "4k worth it" criteria and 40 degree of FOV.

However, 60" and 12 ft away fail both "4k worth it" and the FOV criteria.

So if you have a 60" TV, you can't put it 12 feet away, can't appreciate the 4K details ( even if the TV is playing a 4K content ) and also the FOV is too small.

85" and 12 ft away, no point getting a 4k TV, not able to appreciate the 4K details.
*
Yes.. All in theory. Looks like you missed the point.. Take a 60" top of the line series 9/OLED TV and a 70/75" entry-level series 6 TV, place em side by side and stand 12ft away. Toss in a 4K bluray disc and compare. I guarantee you that the 60" will look so much better even at that distance. In such scenarios, doesn't matter if worth it or not.. What matters is getting the best pq. A TV is not like a monitor where one is supposed to sit within arm's length.. I've got a 55" and at about 8ft away... Glorious 1080p pq.

Plan to buy tvbox to watch live channel, just checking whether tvbox works well with UHD tv? Not sure about the display quality.  blink.gif

Yes, most have no issues.. As for pq, buy a decent box and not some generic cheap crap for an Android box.

It's been more than a month since Update 1201 is live in various places and UK.

No blerdy sign of it in Asia until now.

One thing I hate about Samsung is their inability to get the shits together for updates.

The rollout is always screwed up, even with their flagship phones (I remember those days wait for months before Android 7 is out on S7Edge MY)

is there a significant difference in pq between 4k uhd 2016 and 2017 models?

That would be a matter of personal preference. Some notice significant differences, others can't even tell when 1080p or 4k content is being played.. tongue.gif

Likely I will have to bring to SG to claim. Hence the apprehension. For those flagship product how likely the product will fail?
*
If it currently has no defect and not a lemon unit, then it's very unlikely to develop any issues. Samsung builds solid flagship products. Of course, if you as the user does something to it and it breaks...?... Oh well. icon_rolleyes.gif

I read a bit on this today, and I do see the difference now, thanks for the insights & explanation!

I purchased the KS7500 earlier today. The LG looked nice and somehow appeared bigger (there was a demo set), but budget-wise, KS7500 was significantly cheaper. Any tips on what I should look out for when the TV arrives tomorrow? Any configuration/setting I need to check to ensure no issues with the TV & its indeed a new set and not a display set tongue.gif

Thanks!

Download TV/Monitor screen test files to check for damage.. See if you can get into the service menu to check how much time it has spent switched on. Once satisfied no defects, switch to Movie mode and calibrate as best as you can.
