Ok found it. Turns out that my KS7000 display unit already clock in about 260,000 minute. If it on display at the shop for 12 hours a day, it had been on display for about 1 year. Different from what seller claim for 3-4 months only sweat.gif . Lets see how it will fair in long run. My previous sony tv display unit also, served me well for 7 years. Hope this one can make it laugh.gif
*
Well technically LCD has a theoretical lifespan between 60k to 100k hours (3.6 mil to 6 mil minutes)

So basically they dented in worse case scenario 7.2% of the LCD lifespan LOL.

Of course that's just all theory.

Usually before your 10 year is up, tech upgraded too much that make you change TV if it didn't spoil beforehand due to other issue (common flat panel death is usually not panel burnt but other component failure such as power supply, switch or backlight)

It's been more than a month since Update 1201 is live in various places and UK.

No blerdy sign of it in Asia until now.

One thing I hate about Samsung is their inability to get the shits together for updates.

The rollout is always screwed up, even with their flagship phones (I remember those days wait for months before Android 7 is out on S7Edge MY)

Oic, 4-5 month already. Looks like this model very popular, display set all taken already laugh.gif
QLED still at RM8k price range, price seem not going down much.
*
Usually the price only start slashing when next model (for next year) is coming out.

Most probably usually around end year/early next year, then my March the price slash is even more.

From where did the SA got the info that MU6100 is IPS panel? This is almost impossible because Samsung doesn't produce IPS panel and they will have to buy panel from LG, their largest competitor.
Yes, viewing angle is definitely better on IPS and IPS pixel level response time is faster, so less motion blur for sports and fast moving scenes. Also the non black color reproduction is better as well, check out those LG SUHD TV with 10bits panel, the color is just impressive. The biggest problem for IPS is contrast, if you will watch the TV in dark room like bedroom at night, don't buy IPS TV, the black is bad with light bleed. But for large well lit living room, the IPS TV can produce quite good picture even watching from side.
*
I find IPS color reproduction abit less spot on than VA Panel though. Might be my eye problem hahaha.

But yes Contrast is the biggest difference I can see.

I find IPS Panel best suited for smaller screen (like 23 inch monitor, or handheld screen) while VA is more suited for beyond 55 inch. (but that's just my bias, and maybe i'm just spoiled by KS7000 VA panel)

Of course, OLED is another breed altogether XD.

Nice info so VA panel is overall better. So no significant difference between 2016-2017 models then for uhd?
*
It's highly subjective though haha.

Some ppl just like IPS more, which is why they stick to brands like Sony/LG TV.

As quoted in Rtings comments for MU6300 (equivalent model of MU6100 in US)

"I recently bought the Samsung UE55MU6179 TV after reading the review of the MU6300 on your website, as I thought it also featured a VA panel from Samsung, Innolux, Sharp, AUO or whichever the manufacturer.

To my surprise I found out that Samsung provided my size with a PLS panel from BOE. Here is a picture from the secret service menu. It looks like Samsung does ship the MU6170 series with a VA panel for all the sizes but the 55".

Just wanted to point that out. I am not sure whether I will take the smaller 50" panel as I found out that the 55" PLS still fulfills my needs.

Very confusing and disappointing strategy by Samsung UE.

Have a nice day and thanks for the reviews."

A majority of MU6300 should be VA panel with some exceptions.

And it's probably not IPS but PLS since PLS is samsung panel (they probably not buying LG IPS panel for their entry level TV)

*
PLS is basically Samsung proprietary IPS panel tech.

IPS - In-Plane Switching
PLS - Plane to Line Switching

Anyways basically it is almost the same.

Hi,  anyone know to how to use the universal remote come with ks7000 to samsung soundbar hwk360. Im able to pass the power test when testing the remote to the soundbar. But after that how am i to switch my remote if i want to use tv instead of soundbar and vice versa? There is no button for it.
*
I believe you can only change it through setting, Sound, Sound Output, switching between HDMI(Receiver)/Optical VS TV Speakers to make the remote work. Samsung universal remote is not really universal, it is basically working as per running it concurrent with the TV, you can't switch it. Like when you map your universal remote to like Astro/HyypTV box, it will only work when you switch over the TV to that input source.

Does our samsung tv example ks7000 has same chassis with korean samsung tv? Tq. Their firmware update already 1203.
*
Nope

There is 3 general Firmware of KS7000/KS8000/KS7500/KS8500

ABC = Asia Pacific, Australia, Middle East, etc (Malaysia is here)
AKU = South Korea, USA, etc.
EUC = Euro, UK, etc.

Sadly 1201+ firmware is out for both AKU and EUC, but ABC still stuck at 1180.5 haha. Damn Samsung.

EDIT : Fun Fact, 1201 is out in UK in the beginning of Aug, 1203 in Korea in the beginning of Sept, so maybe AKU have to wait for god knows how long haha. (Prev firmware of all the region is the 1180.5)

Latest 55” Class Q8C Curved QLED someone want to sell for RM5,500 nearby my area. Worth it? It's not from shop. The guy won from lucky draw...
*
Are you sure there is a Q8C 55 inch? Last I recall officially launching that time Samsung only have the flat panel Q7 55 inch, while the Q8 was going at 65 inch minimum.

Anyways 5.5k MYR for QLED 55 inch is quite reasonable.

Likely I will have to bring to SG to claim. Hence the apprehension. For those flagship product how likely the product will fail?
*
Well fail or not it is highly dependent on luck. It doesnt matter if you buying a flagship or even the RM90k 80 inch TV. When it want to fail it will fail.

Don't forget Samsung Malaysia warranty is on site service (means they come to your hose to do replacement panel and etc) and it's 2 years warranty.

55 inch QLED series will be going around 5k price range (albeit it will be the flat version Q7) roughly between Feb to June 2018. If you're not in a hurry, and you're not a big fan of curved screen, might as well just don't get the SG unit. (let Singaporean buy it instead, since they lose the risk of warranty trouble)

Can suggest me which 43" TV to get?

Samsung M5100 - http://www.samsung.com/my/tvs/fhdtv-m5100/UA43M5100AKXXM/

LG FHD TV 43"- http://www.lg.com/my/tvs/lg-43LJ510T

Usage - mostly for gaming (PS4) and general media consumption

And yes.. I know this is a Samsung TV thread wink.gif
*
Is there a reason why 43 inch though. I believe for sub 1.5k to 2k you can actually get last year model 49 inch Full HD TV (55 inch KU series is even going at 2.something k if you willing to go further and able to find some bargain, you need to hunt hard though, cause the price is random between 2.x k to 3.x k lol).

Anyways both is similar spec on paper, so just go eyeball the showroom unit and see which panel you like better in terms of color.

Do take note that both of the TV you list is 50hz panel, so for PS4, if you play those 60fps games, the panel could not process the additional frames cause hardware limited to 50 hz. (well granted most PS4 games are capped to 30fps, but if FPS games and action games usually there is a 60fps mode)

So if you got some extra money and space, go hunt for last year Samsung KU 6xxx model. 5 series model are all 50 hz panel

hey thanks for sharing. Indeed I am limited to the 43" size as the most optimum viewing size for my room
And 50hz is fine for me for these specs.
Those 2 are quite balanced but I'm leaning more towards the Samsung now as it has the built in Bluetooth which can comes in handy.
Anyone knows if I can pair it with my normal Bluetooth earphone or it needs to connect to a Samsung Mobile device (as per the description) in order for it to work.
*
Never tried headset but I paired before Bluetooth Speakers with using the on screen TV menu and it works.

Hey guys,

Kinda stuck between two 65" models:
KS7500
MU7000

I gather the former is better than the latter. Ideally I'd prefer flat rather than curved, but given these two choice, which out do you think I should go for (and why).
Thanks!
p.s. I dont think I can get any of the 65" KS7000 models anywhere right?
*
65 inch KS7000 is never even released in Malaysia. (Only US and UK)

I would go for KS7500 (purely because KS7xxx panel is more superior in terms of peak brightness and contrast as compared to the MU7000), but if curved is a real deal breaker (I forgo 65 inch KS7500 in favor of 55 inch flat KS7000 half a year ago due to the fact it is curved even though I kinda need t bigger TV LOL, ended up I just move my seating position nearer to the 55 inch lol), then your next best choice would be the MU7 series. I'm pretty sure Q7F is still very overpriced (is it around 8k for a 55 inch now?)

Also the price at that time was RM4900 for KS7000 55 inch vs the RM8k+ near to 9k for 65 inch KS7500, I can almost buy 2 TV with a 65 inch price LOL.

Anyways back to the topic at hand, as mentioned, the KS 7 series panel is better than the MU series as it boost a much higher contrast, much higher peak brightness, which will translate to better HDR capability. I also believe KS series is branded as SUHD, while MU series is branded UHD only (that's just branding naming though). However in rtings, they did note that the true successor for KS8000 (KS7000 here) is actually the Q7F, MU series is not really close to the specification of the panel in KS series.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts guys..
I'm concerned about HDR10+ compatibility. I gather Samsung doesn't support Dolby Vision, so that's out. But given that KS7500 is a 2016 TV, does it lose out to MU7000 in terms of HDR10? (both are 65" tvs btw)?
*
HDR10+ is in a very weird situation now.

It is assumed 2016 SUHD TV will get HDR10+ capability via Firmware update, *however* where the HDR10+ is limited to in app support or also via HDMI inputs is subject to much debate and heated discussion.

There is no confirmation in regards to HDR10+ via HDMI hardware support update for 2016 SUHD, and even the 2017 QLED/Premium UHD range.

All that is confirmed that in-app will get HDR10+ update in an unspecified time frame due to Amazon Prime and Samsung partnership in pushing for HDR10+ support.

And yes there will be no Dolby Vision, Samsung don't want to pay Dolby royalty tongue.gif

I wondering Samsung TV have bluetooth? hmm.gif
*
Most Samsung Smart TV has bluetooth (maybe some variants don't but usually have)

Anyways for Bluetooth

"Only one pair of Bluetooth headphones can be used at once.

To use headphones and the TV speakers simultaneously, navigate to the Main Menu > System > Accessibility > Multi-output Audio."

You probably need to set your remax to "pairing mode" (usually involve some button combination press or something)

Then you go to Menu, Sound, Speaker Setting, and look for Bluetooth (for older TV). For 2016 TV i think it is Menu, Sound, Sound Output, and look for Bluetooth Audio.

Also you probably need to ensure your phone is no longer paired to it (or bluetooth off) cause sometimes your headset is still paired to something else rendering the TV unable to see it.

wow, if this is the case, then it seems much better than the LG's one. But LG's one supposed to have more tech/and a higher series (8 vs 7) hmm.gif
*
You forgot the fact that Samsung model equivalent of 7 series in UK/Asia is 8 series in US, and LG retained the series.

Anyways Series is just a marketing jargon.

In terms of Panel performance, KS7500 is quite a way ahead of the LG IPS Panel (the only thing LG is more superior is the viewing angle)

I also find out LG upscaller abit off for my taste, and color reproduction is abit more mild (perhaps due to the fact I'm using Samsung TV for the past 15 years bias also maybe)

Harvey Norman should have those still in display, just bring a thumb drive with clips of things you usually watch (you can even pair your smartphone to the TV to stream, that's what I did)

Remember to loan their remote and set their Picture Mode to movie first before doing it (frankly speaking you probably won't use Dynamic at all, which is usually the default for Show Units.)
