Nani leads the most goal assists in BPL which is 8. Man, we are very dangerous in our attacking set-pieces. Most of the times we scored after having attacking set pieces.

QUOTE(SGSuser @ Nov 3 2010, 10:02 PM) that's what I don't get..If you put him as backup for another 5 years how much starting experience do you think he will get? How much is the "experience" he will need to become a regular starter? I assume your first team means starter coz he is already in the first team since he join.. Errr, no offense but frankly speaking i don't rate PIG more than just a good back up goalkeeper though. Beside, he didn't complain much, that alone probably the only reason why SAF keep him. A good servant, a good backup when called upon.Added on November 3, 2010, 10:07 pmPlease don't forget that if Tomasz stayed at West Brom that time he would have been snapped up by another major club..Just because he joined us as backup to VDS doesn't mean he is only a backup keeper standard..How many times has he failed to perform for us? I cant think of any apart from one or two blunders. This post has been edited by maxizanc: Nov 3 2010, 11:24 PM |

QUOTE(SGSuser @ Nov 3 2010, 11:40 PM) I believe the reason he is not complaining now because he knows VDS is about to retire, then he will get his chance..When Foster was 2nd choice last year, he did make some noise.. Probably yes, but it's not the point. I don't know why you defend him so much but for me really doesn't have the first choice quality (i can't believe i said the otherwise few years ago). For example, like you've said, he did some blunders last time, imagine if he gets to play the same amount of games as VDS, how many blunder-games ratio will it be He's a good guy, friendly and also a good back up. Added on November 3, 2010, 11:58 pmYeah, i guess i missed that statement of his. This post has been edited by maxizanc: Nov 3 2010, 11:58 PM |

QUOTE(alien2003 @ Nov 3 2010, 11:49 PM) Its quite obvious we are looking for a new #1 to takeover from Edwin so can't see him staying with us for too long. Wan posted this some time ago: I have the same feeling as well. No doubt he has done a good job whenever calling upon to replace the injured/rested VDS but still he doesn't really give me that sort of "safety" feeling which I am getting when VDS is playing. QUOTE(alien2003 @ Nov 4 2010, 12:01 AM) One area which I really hope the gaffer will get it right this time will be our next choice of GK as new #1. We had quite a number of bad experiences on goalkeepers and its really freak me out to even think that it might happen again. Yeah, when it comes to a first choice GK, we really need to be careful in our purchase. There is no room for experimental or some sort like that. |

QUOTE(SGSuser @ Nov 4 2010, 12:16 AM) I defend him because he has done nothing to deserve this "he's not good enough to become a starter" thingy from the fans. He is a backup keeper now, and he did his job well when called, especially when VDS was injured last season he had his run of (10?)games and he didnt disappoint any fans at all, yet some fans still doesn't feel secure with him. Look at Fabianski now, Wenger sticked to him eventhough Arsenal fans were calling for his head at the end of last season, and now he is at the end of praises from pundits.. Yes PIG did made a few blunders, all keepers has. But you can't make a blunder-games ratio like that, it is extremely flawed. My main point is just that it's premature thinking he is not good enough to become #1 when he hasn't have the chance to have a full(or at least half) season to himself to prove he can be our #1. The ratio things was just an example to who he really is. I know we shouldn't rely on statistics. But unfortunately bro, according to you or other fan who share the same opinion of yours, yes i respect your opinion. But to me, goalkeeper is the most crucial position a team needs to sort out. A good back up goalkeeper is also important. We can't pick up out of nowhere a goalkeeper as a second choice GK, that if that person is willing to sit on the bench all of the time. PIG was our answer for the second choice. He's 'good for a second choice GK' and he managed to serve us 3 or 4 years sitting on the bench most of the time, that's good enough for me and i'd give him my hat's off to him.But now he did complained and wants to leave, i wouldn't mind if he does.
