Sorry to hear what you have to go through. Honestly, can't blame them as they have been exposed to the 'greatness' of formula hence they don't think that bm is as good.

For your MIL- you can tell her nicely that you are grateful that she worries about your body but rest assured that it has never happened to your friends. If at home..maybe u can just bf in the room.

For your hubby - maybe you can show him on the formula milk tin that states it's recommended to breastfeed babies for the 1st year (it shows that even those making formula recommends bm). If he's the type that listens to specialists..then bring him to see your doc (provides your doc is pro-breastfeeding)

It takes awhile to educate ppl abt bm.

Meanwhile hang in there till u reach the 6 months mark.

phythia, he knows abt the label of bm on fm... sigh... everyday i go thru this fm or bm war... very xian u know... ironic mil bf hb when he was baby but dunno when she stop bf coz she's traitional kind... housework more important... if u keep bf how would u finish ur housework... that time fil worked overseas for yrs... only came back once a yr i think... so she has to cook for herself n feed her kids... i understand her stand but y no one ask me wat or how i wanna feed? sigh... today i went out without bringing any bottles... went to jusco bukit indah n found there's not a single baby room~!!! i had to bf at the make-up counter near the entrance... covered the bb wif shawl n bf... dry.gif y there's no baby room~!!! should i make a suggestion to jusco?
*
sometimes...elders tend to think what they think is best for us without realising that it may not be our choice or it's just not good for us...so..the only thing for us to do is..either just put in one ear and takeout the other....or just tell outright.

My MIL does ask me things like..when am i gonna stop bf...or she tells my son not to touch or look for my breast (how lar he understand...breast is his comfort mar)...but i just turn on a deaf ear...good thing is coz she doesn't stay with me...so..it's easier to just buat dunno...but if in your case..knowing myself..i'll one day blow up.

Hmmm...thinking about what your MIL said about spoiling your nipple..maybe it happened to her? keekeke...just a thought..since you said that she bf your hubby.

just hang in there k? It'll get better in time.

Syd G...i really envy your stash!! good production!!

hehehe..have no idea..my target is 2 yrs..but looking at my son now who is glued to my boobs...he may not want to stop on his own.

I'm more worried to stop coz he doesn't drink any other milk. rclxub.gif though he eats other stuff like cheese or oats for calcium....so...may continue beyond 2 yrs. flex.gif

Thinking back...the first six months..i was worried..i got not enough milk...and whether i can reach the 6months mark...then..i was worried if i can reach the 1 year mark...now...i worried if i may stop after reaching my target..and worried if he wants to drink other milk..LOL

Have u tried direct bf? Babies tend to empty the breast more effectively.

You can try using hot or cold compress on your breast. If I'm not mistaken, try cold cabbage too.

I've never experienced this but I've read that these may help.

phythia, i tot cold cabbage is used when we wanna stop bf? can use for engorgement too meh?
*
That's what i read..it helps engorgement. I've never had to use it...so I'm not sure if it would really ease the engorgement or totally stop the milk. I'd prefer using the hot or cold compress first and leave the cabbage as the last alternative.

about engorgement...apparently..not to try on the hot compress..but they did say about the cabbage..read on..

thanks for the reply:-) I feel better today if I pump more often.. bb refused to direct bf:-( coz confused d coz at first i giv her formula coz no milk supply yet n I'm still v tired n blur after c section..

I called up the hospital n they advise me to bf direct at nite or pump out coz more milk supply..
*
glad to hear that..keep on trying to direct bf...some babies take time to learn on how to latch on. Remember that it's still a learning process for both mommy and baby - don't get upset if baby can't latch on properly or if you find it difficult to bf.

6 months only??

a friend of mine...started weaning her sons when they reach 10 months..so that they don't become too dependant on her breast..I think that's a safe time..unlike me..I don't know how to wean my son off...but then again..even me not ready to wean him off..wink.gif it's really a special relationship.

Try putting in extra pumping in your current schedule..as demand = supply.

Drink lots of fluids and you can try drinking boiled fenugreek seeds water.

When you see your baby...try to direct feed and put in an additional session of pumping.

HOpefully these can increase your supply.

usually the pm ones are lesser..dunno why.

on a different note, the best time to pump is in the early morning ..at about 5am..something to do with the hormones..thus..you get more..dunno how far is true..coz i can't wake up at that time..kekekeek

My baby is 6 weeks old. For me, the most I get is 150ml during morning pump. During day time, it would drop to about 90-100ml every 3hours. During 8pm,11pm and 3am pump would be more.

For my case, I think taking milkmaid tea helps a lot in increasing supply. But lazy to take cuz dont really enjoy it. Haven't try fenugreek seeds as I still cannot find from organic shop or jusco. Green papaya soup, barley, etc all not working for me.
*
Hmm..you did go to the dried condiments section right? Fenugreek is also known as biji halba in BM.
