When a stock on downtrend, the more you average, the more losses it accumulate.

Buy only when the counter starts to show uptrend.

Usually the uptrend going fast, no "guts" to catch the chance
or the uptrend is trap, then "doom"

i agree with both statement, everytime i buy i will set a 5% -10%( depends on my confidence) cut lose point. A sifu teach me, learn how not to lose money in market first, then seek for profit afterward.

When I first started to play this stock thing, people told me about this thing that they proud of: technique of average down.
Later, I realize this is totally wrong approach. It shouldn't even exist in the first place, because all it does is just a misleading mindset.
The only technique we should care of is this: looking good on the stock, buy. Looking bad, sell to cut loss. This already includes the so called "average down" inside without misleading our mindset.

So we should press sell at least on the newly purchased portion of the stock to get earnings when we realize it could be a trap instead of care too much on the overall average price of the stock and stuck there.
