then again, not all rm80-90 goes to the teacher i believe 50% goes to the school, so unless you're teaching full time it cant get better than your day job.

All i know is PDP is like an export version of Pearl drums. They offer reasonable priced drums for its quality, not like its mother brand DW. THey also offer cool finishes, certainly a good buy. But i would rather go for DW if i was to keep the drums till for my grandchildren. Then again, my grandchildren might not play drums....

QUOTE(Namqul @ Dec 15 2006, 07:18 PM) what do you mean by like an export version of Pearl drums? and how is it if it is compared with other low end drumset like maxtone, superstar, premier or others which is below RM2k what i meant was, Pearl line of drums which are called export series. Dude PDP and Premier are way better than superstar, maxtone and other kits that cost under 2k. Even the entry level kit for PDP and Premier sounds better than the 'Kapok' sets.

QUOTE(Namqul @ Dec 17 2006, 05:10 PM) export series? but here in malaysia, the cheapest is forum series right? and that will cost about 2.3k. hmmm maybe ill ask the salesguy more when im there to buy. still considering tho.... dude if you're getting a Forum series for 2.3k...clearly you're being overcharged. I could get a export series with cymbals and hardware for 2.6k. Check online web shops before buying anything.

Plastic sticks dont give you added weight. Mike Mangini sticks are by the the heaviest sticks in the wood market. Even some AHEAD sticks dont come close to the weight.

I am not a scientist but yet, i've played plastic sticks and they feel a whole lot weird compared to wooden sticks. I switch sticks rather often so its not a matter of getting used to. I feel that knowing how to control a rebound is far better than not having it rebound after hitting something. Cause this allows you to vary the dynamics of your drums.

Then why not use marching band sticks? they're much much heavier and they're wood. Kill 2 birds with one stone again.

But practicing with sticks doesnt mean you'll be playing rigorously right? I assume stength training would involve playing to rudiments and stick exercises. If you're talking about jam sessions then it would be a different story wouldnt it? For that i would recommend some simple weight exercise, or maybe some cardio. Practicing with plastic sticks wouldnt be too useful.

QUOTE(Party2DMax @ Dec 31 2006, 06:41 PM) Lol, what weight exercise and cardio? I do gym, so I probably could add in simple exercises. I wouldn't want to quote all 20 exercises from DRUM magazine. But it seems some running and medicine ball exercises really helps building strength as well.

QUOTE(Mike3300 @ Jan 21 2007, 09:19 PM) Can get special price cause got some contacts in Yamaha and stores that sell various cymbals. dude, Yamaha never sells Zildjian cymbals. As far as i know Bentley is the ONLY sole distributor of Zild cymbals. Yamaha is the ONLY sole distributor of Sabian. They dont cross each others water, unless someone is counterfeiting products out of the company. Which has happen before in Yamaha and its all over the papers too.

QUOTE(Beatmasta @ Mar 10 2007, 04:41 AM) i'm have prob finding a snare drum which im satisfied with the tone sound it make..so far i've bought a pearl picolo 13 x 3" s1330b few months back, sounds great but its too tight sounding. i was thinking of getting pearl jordison snare slightly thicker by 6.5". wad u guys think? came across dave weckl's snare whch a bit slightly expensive. Get a Pearl 14 x 3.5 instead will sound way better with medium tuning

QUOTE(drummerboy @ Apr 26 2007, 01:25 AM) Anyone can teach me rim-shot with left hand on traditional grip? Just tilt your snare drum(South west) side a little bit higher and naturally you'll be hitting each note as a rim shot. Unless you dont want to you can always play normally
