QUOTE(Mike3300 @ Sep 12 2007, 03:53 PM) Who is Chucky btw? I started to play on double-bass pedals. It might sound silly but I've been working on a single pedal almost years of my drumming. My first attempt was In The Fire by Roadrunner United/King Diamond. It's quite hard though. hi im chucky. haha.cool attempt there, but always remember to start slow and build a steady speed up. many drummers know this, but always forget it. get your left(weaker) foot as good as your right foot, and do what u can do with your right foot with your left, then things will be much easier to work and coordinate on. all the best mate. |

QUOTE(Namqul @ Sep 12 2007, 08:35 PM) chucky, since words are saying that ur good, ahha, blame them and not me, so, ill ask u a question. Ive been trying to figure out this for a while. See, im a lefty, so, i always play open hand instead of crossed like regular players and my ride is on the left side beside the hihat. ok, this is where im very confused, with double pedal, i guess i should start with my left rite since u guys start with your right. it means when my left hand is hitting the drum/cymbal, my left foot hit the pedal and same goes with the rights right? but it really is hard to practice and my coordination is very2 weired. man i should have bought a lefty pedal and reverse my kit instead. any advice? i think what you are doing is right. left hand hit the first beat on the cymbal, your left leg strikes first only then right leg. i think that should work for a left handed player.it might look confusing since u play it open handed, but its totally fine. maybe, it just looks like right handed players playing the right open handedly and stepping the right leg on the first beat too? haha. Added on September 12, 2007, 10:58 pm QUOTE(Mike3300 @ Sep 12 2007, 08:59 PM) haha, no, im just a normal drummer, nothing special. those rumours and cockstories are from my fellow friends here haha. This post has been edited by chuckenscream: Sep 12 2007, 10:58 PM |

QUOTE(Namqul @ Sep 13 2007, 02:45 PM) hmm, in that case, i guess what i should do now is just train more. haha. and i gues for you guys who want to have a feel on my problem, try playing open hand with the ride, and try starting with your left leg 1st. but i guess, if you are good enough, anything is possible rite? its really hard, unless im somoething like thomas lang haha. good luck dude! |

QUOTE(Blackdawn @ Sep 15 2007, 02:42 AM) hey if you've just got the double pedal and are new to it, try building up your chops first and get steady. when u're sexy and steady with 120bpm, u can try many songs. metallica for sure, haha lars is not that fast most of the time. or u can always play double bass to any songs, just to get use your legs to songs.once u're faster(around 140bpm), u can really play alot of kick ass songs! |

well done, but the video quality wasnt that good, cant really see your legs animation, maybe it went too fast? haha. so what technique were u using, slide doubles? because it dont seem like u're stepping every notes.
and for those who step every note for 220bpm, your balls must have endured much friction. haha. |

haha true, but then it'd make it difficult to do patterns(not continuous) right, since u have pick up time.

QUOTE(Mike3300 @ Sep 18 2007, 10:51 PM) do u know about the george lawrence stick control book? many drummers uses that for advanced double bass training, paradiddles and many more odd patterns. and to be honest paradiddles on double bass drums is widely discussed among the drumming community and magazines already. haha. |
