Triplets are great, try different combinations between hands and feet....haha you can get some pretty cool stuff to incoporate into your grooves and fills.

Haha its good to pay close attention to the quarter note pulse, and praticing with a metronome is great...however,for the bass drum, you may want to exercise more restraint when playing it,instead of hitting it real hard all the time....so that you leave room for accenting...& its not as tiring.lol.

True, prolonged usage of the base drum padal makes my right foot ache!
I also play steady triplets on the ride cymbal for some pattern styles. I need to try practicing triplets on the ride with a pattern and then switch to eights and then back to triplets again (maintaining timing). I like my drumming school's electronic drumset But I actually prefer an acoustic set. |

Hehe....hmmm where do you go to study? Mahogany?
You could do well with.....16th notes on the bass drum,if you've double pedals,or else 8ths with a single as a ostinato. Then playing contrasting patterns with your hands. Going from a usual rock groove, to a half time groove, or a triplet feel, or a halftime triplet feel....stuff like that. Check out mike portnoy's "progressive drum concepts" for more info. Hi, I learn drums in Harmony Music at Damansara Utama
I am used to playing doted rhythms and sixteens on a single pedal base. I also play triplets on the base drum. Currently my school wants to add a splash, cool! I recomment then for a 2.0' ride since the current one is more like a crash at 18'. It is cool learning drums! |

nice setup shannon103! nice to see some HHX..
what type of music will u guys be playing? anyway, i think that all the coordination will come after time and practice with ur bandmates.. its not something you can be taught... all you can do is keep timing.. hey, how about we post up music clips of our drumming? just for fun! ciao! |
