THE SECOND Google-branded mobile phone will hit the UK in time for Christmas through an exclusive deal with Carphone Warehouse, City A.M. has learned.

Its predecessor, the Nexus One, is the flagship device for the search giant, which is desperately trying to wrest market share from Apple’s iPhone.
The deal with Carphone represents a major rethink of Google’s sales strategy, with the Nexus One released exclusively in the UK through Vodafone.

An industry source said: “It looks like Google is experimenting with the future of its mobile model in the UK. It tried releasing through a single carrier, now it is trying a single retailer.
“It could be a solution to the problems it experienced when it tried to sell the Nexus One exclusively through its website. People like to be able to go to a store – this solves that.”

The Nexus One, built by HTC, failed to make a splash when it was released earlier this year, although Google’s Android software is now growing faster than phones powered by Apple or RIM.

Has Google already created the follow-up device to its Nexus One?  According to reports today from the UK, the Nexus Two (we’ll call it) is built, loaded with Gingerbread, and will be sold exclusively through Carphone Warehouse by X-mas.  (Who?)  A company based out of the UK, meaning if this rumor is true, Google must already have some plans to hook up with a U.S. retailer to distribute this puppy stateside, right? 

No news on any of the specs, but if we look back at the  Nexus One, you have to figure this will be the next developer phone and one that trumps almost anything else

i guess if the phone is manufactured by Motorola then it might be Tegra 2 phone but if from Samsung,then hummingbird is the choice

4.3inch seems so not google-ish.. they would go for majority.. 4.0 would be the sweet spot and more universal accepted by users.. i personally prefer 4.3 but its unlikely to be..

Needless to say that the Google Nexus One will live on in memory as one of the most profound Android handsets to hit the market, but when asked about a potential successor, Google's very own Eric Schmidt noted that there were no plans for a second Google branded device.

However, some rather interesting pieces of news surfaced recently regarding a potential Google Nexus Two handset. This time is comes from British business paper City A.M. which sites that a Gingerbread on board Google Nexus Two will be ready in time for a launch this upcoming holiday season. However, it looks as though it'll be available in the UK with exclusivity going to popular retailer Carphone Warehouse. It's not certain from the report whether or not other regions around the world would see this mythical device, but the unnamed source goes on to say that it won't be manufactured by Samsung.

But when you think about the relationship that Carphone Warehouse has with Best Buy Mobile in the US, it's striking to say that Google has some prominent partners at hand if they were to indeed launch this device in time for the holidays.

Google and Samsung will announce the “Nexus Two” at a press conference on November 8th in New York city. The phone will be the first device to ship with stock Gingerbread (Android 2.3) and it will be available soon on multiple carriers.

Samsung hardware (processor, screen) is great, it's the software that I don't trust. But if Google enforces stock Gingerbread 2.3, without any TouchWiz or Samsung "enhancements", it'll be a great phone.

i'm kinda disappointed. I think the rumor is for US where their galaxy has no front camera.

Thought of changing my N1 to N2 but now no more. don like the appearance of the nexus S. T_T

If just a rebranded Galaxy S with that glossy plastic, sad. I much prefer HTC's build quality (except the screens).

but to keep it in low weight,plastic built is the good choice unless they change it to carbon fibre

Low weight is good, but I really hate the fingerprints the glossy plastic attracts.

They should choose the Teflon plastic used in the white HTC Hero. Keeps the phone light, and prevents smudges and fingerprints.

Yeah, except the screens.. HTC's LCD screen already left behind by iPhone4 IPS LCD and SGS Super AMOLED.. Just look at Desire HD.. 

My friend using HTC Hero back then.. Unfortunately, he sold it already.. The phone really awesome when it first came out! With unique body built and material used.. No wonder that it won Smartphone of The Year 2009!!

Exactly! The DHD has such a nice big screen, but doesn't look as good as the SGS's Super AMOLED. Anyway everybody knows that HTC is choosing SLCD not because SLCD is superior, but because Samsung is restricting the supply of AMOLED screens.

Shape of iPhone4 only OK? Not body build of it because of percentage iPhone4 owners claimed their phone is higher than 3gs owner to warranty.. Why? Cracked body..

Haha yeah, just the shape. Nice and simple. But don't use glass, use the aluminium build of Legend.

But I much prefer the glass on iPhone 4 to the super-fingerprint magnet on the 3GS and iPod Touch.  I think most 3GS/Touch owners get a casing is because of the fingerprint issue. Can't be to make it look better, because bumpers make iPhones look ridiculous.

Currently they're using HTC Hero's image as placeholder for HTC Mecha, that's why people assume it's going to be like Hero. But nobody knows for sure. 

the thing that likely missing is notification led,trackball,solid build and no physical button if it is made by Samsung

If they don't wear bumper, they will lost call a lot more than other devices! 

Does it mean HTC Mecha will has chin like Hero?

wow... tough choice.......
for me i like MOTOROLA phone( i mean the outlook and the built quality), but i don like the company as i once owned a milestone and for me it really sucks that moto lock the bootloader and the slow update.
Imagine desire with sense skin upgraded to froyo much faster than milestone which has a plain android....

samsung i love he SAMOLED but don like the outlook of the galaxy coz of the plastic thingy which is a fingerprint magnet.... hehe...

for 4+ inches phone, i still think that HTC HD2 and MOTO droid X is the sexist.

As I said, I just use a pouch when I'm carrying and it's not in use.
Not like I work in construction or warzone and drop it everyday and need some hard case.

It took me very long time to find this, can say i ask around in LYN garage sales but no1 is selling. so i went to ebay and bought it from a seller from UK...
mana tau the seller use normal post to send, it took 2 weeks to reach my house...
if u wanna buy better black matte wan coz although the silver wan looks nice, but it will become very oily at the back... hehe..

hell why need so much casing etc... 

ask HTC to make their phone easier to change casing and make the casing widely available.. 

after scratch or watever..  go n buy 1 to replace..
