ALOT of my frens faced this problem. Just sign up for Digi plan and you will not have problems being charged with excessive bandwidth usage as it is free usage on DiGi. Also, Digi is much faster compared to Maxis, I have compared with Maxis 3G loading the same site, youtube, etc. And it has still proven that Digi is twice or more faster than Maxis.
One thing I like to share with you guys also about Maxis service. I used Maxis fixed line back like 4 years ago. But as I have changed houses, I have terminated the fixed line. I am sure you guys know that we have to settle the bill before the line is being terminated right? So, yes I have settled the bill and had it cancelled off. So recently, when I wanted to sign up for iPhone 4, they said Maxis blacklisted me! I went to check with Maxis and they say I have an outstanding amount of RM111.52. Hey WTF is this? I cancelled it off and I still have outstanding amount with them? Ok I screw them up and down, the manager came over instead. After all those bullshit, he told me there's nothing we can do sir, just pay up. WTF?
I have a conclusion here, Maxis is a robber nowadays. They charge you for their mistakes!
Oh man, that's srewed up. Daylight robbery lah maxis! I walked in and talked to the manager made a big fuss there and they the manager a little bit scared. She proposed to waiver the fee off if she has the power. Said she will try to talk to the big boss.

I am signed up for Galaxy S 12 months. I signed up on the 18th of Oct. I was not informed that the bandwidth will get prorated from 18th to 20th and 21th only start 500MB data plan. So, on the 18th to 20th I got 50MB limit.
50MB is a lot for a mobile phone web browsing at least to me. But they claimed I used 235MB and charged me over 1k for it. My 3G Watchdog captured 5MB the first day and at max 20MB la for the 3 days. WTH right....
So, do be careful. Any suspicious charges straight away go complain.

Well two months ago I got the Samsung Galaxy S as well. I knew about the "before the roll date is charged as normal rate" so I still had my celcom data only line. After that Used the 500mb la.. 2 weeks in kena barred. I called and ask why they say my line limit RM 100. hello, my plan is 50+58 and u give me a limit of RM 100 ?! WTF ! Fine I pay RM 50 to get it unbarred I asked to check see what was my usage. they say cos I didnt subscribe to itemized billing they cant tell. WTF ! at the end I payed RM 180+ for 1st month and yes subscribed to itemized billing.

You shouldn't pay. Paying them means you've succumbed to their mistakes. Weird, they couldn't tell you the billing info? I called 123 and scolded them till they tell me my usage.
Mine was 1 week only barred twice.
First time got barred because they BARRED THE WRONG NUMBER? Wtf? They didn't even apologised.
