Actually, the salesperson at the maxis centers do mention it quite clearly, i think.
If you took one of those phone packages with the data plans, like for example the 500mb one, once your usage exceeds 500mb they will charge 1 cent per kb. I don't think they ever tried to hide this from you, so no i don't think it's fair to say u r being cheated by maxis if they charge you a bomb this way.
For those people who accidentally exceeded their usage quota and then got charged a bomb by maxis, i only have one word of advice: there is no such thing as free lunch in this world.
You thought you could take advantage of their package deals to get a cheaper phone. This is what you have to be careful about in the end.

They will then have to admit there is something wrong with the way they are tracking their customer's usage.
