For the final 15 mins, it was funny how Chamakh's gesturing for anyone who had the ball to give him a through pass but the others were like "oi... what la... we play passing enuf la"... LOL... biggrin.gif

many a time chamakh called for a through ball but the players just passed around instead. would prefer that they try to pass a through ball and give chamakh a chance to score

exactly. was meant to mention this after the match but somehow slipped my mind

there are quite a number of occasions where Marouane created enough spaces for himself for a through ball, but since it was not Cesc the chances were wasted just like that. i'm sure at Samir and to a lesser extent Denny Boy & Alex Song is capable of providing the through ball but for some reasons it was just not happening at the later stage of the match last against Man City

It was to play safe and to maintain the possession and clean sheet.

Oh well, I do share the sentiments that we are not good enough in
1. Set pieces
2. Crossing

i don't know kimhoong bro, this is a season where goals had been plenty in BPL especially to our rivals (read : Chelsea). goal difference may be an important factor come end of season. i just thought that with the Marouane ability to create spaces for himself for through ball, such a pity that there was none tried by the midfielders

It's about strategy and level of risk we (or AW) chose to take; It's not about being correct or not wink.gif

As far as I know, AW is never an adventurous manager. Even during the invincible season, we could see Henry tagging the ball at the corner flag for time wasting sweat.gif

Although I do agree that we are bad in Finishing, we were "okay" during the match. Ultimately, yes, we need to improve our finishing in general.

TBH, I really don't know if Chamakh and RVP could play together . Both of them are similar type of players , unselfish , creative and linking up plays . We need a deadlier striker like Henry when paired with DB10 , and Chamakh certainly isn't Henry .

Perhaps we can reverse it to RVP as CF while Chamakh as SS(supporting striker , currently hold by Fabregas) but nobody would dismiss Cesc's capability up front . So ... this is the depth headache eh ?
*

That predicament will be real soon enough when RVP returns. Your idea of Chamakh dropping to SS while RVP taking the striker role could work. However, I like it better the other way around where RVP plays behind Chamakh. But then there's a question of where will Fabregas be. No big deal, just throw him in there along side RVP in the middle, or along side Song a wee bit deeper than RVP. Dayum, imagine that setup, with Nasri/Walcott on the right and Arshavin/Rosicky left. And then there's still Wilshere, Bendtner, Denilson, Diaby, Vela to throw into the mix. Wow. I mean if everyone stays available like that. Just wow.

I found this interesting link in the Liverpool thread http://this11.com/
Register yourself there and you can draw your formations any way you like and the you can post it in forums. Cool.

So, I'm trying it out with the formation I mentioned in my previous post with RVP playing together with Chamakh.

That's the 4-3-2-1 formation that we've been using so far this year. You can re-arrange the centre 3 any way you like. They will always be the versatile ones. Of course 4-4-2 is also an option with those players.

don't you think it's better like this when we have both chamakh and RVP?in fact,RVP played right wing last time for holland before switch to the center.i don't think RVP will be suited in midfield.it will just increase the risk of being tackled by tough midfielders and got injured.in addition to that,he loves to cut inside from the right so maybe he could interchange position with chamakh in the middle when he has the ball.and his left leg is well suited to shoot from the right flank.
