hmm fair points about denilson, i guess i didnt pay attention to him when he's off the ball but when he's on the ball i just dont see him contributing anything positive forward nor when he goes in for the tackle was it very effective other than drawing fouls (perhaps part of the plan) but if not to draw fouls then the attacker would seem to just ride the tackle and move on. But thats just from my eyes and im not slating him, he's just back from injury and i know what our jr invisble wall is capable off =) just had to wonder what it would have been if our young jack was there instead of him. I would think his tackles would be more menacing (albeit perhaps getting sent off potentially with his willingness to throw himself in) and his forward movement and passes are more well thought out compared to denilson's passes, but thats just me nickpicking. We can always improve anyway. I'm just glad to see the team overcome a hurdle (it's a lil sad as well to know that games like this we don't expect to win so much due to our recent poor record against "strong" teams - but it's a burden shaken off as AW would have put it. I really hope we build on this. Man Utd esp are so there for the taking, we have to take points off them this season and get all points for our home games against the big boys.

I'm also rather glad that AW is starting to take CC a bit more seriously. I think trophies will bring in more and since carling cup final is the earliest. We should aim to win it as a springboard for further success esp when our team style relies on confidence to play well. Having said that, i don't want us to over do it but im sure thats what AW is thinking, putting a stronger team without jepordising our other challenges. Players like denilson, theo, bendy, vela are either first team or close to it and needs games, so does the likes of eboue, perhaps almunia/scenzy and johan + kosc too.. i think this team would be a rather strong line up for CC standards tho Newscastle are not to be taken lightly at all.
