hi,

this is for those with crossfire setup. i just got me another 5850 the other day. haven't had any chance to test any games until today. so i tried some Medal of Honor on it.

1. game crashed on me after 10mins.
2. no picture, monitor go suspend mode, pc still running.
3. i suspect it was an auto shutdown (probably power or heat related).
4. i ruled out power, because i believe the power here is more than enough.
5. restart, load gpu-z, log temps reading, start medal of honor game again.
6. played a few minutes of graphic heavy mission. then quit. checked the log.
7. and behold, one of the vrm on gpu2 had 255ºC max temp. other readings was pretty normal.
8. is gpu-z trolling me here? or is the card just got too hot because of the cf? or is it some weird driver problems?

any of you guys ever experienced this? can recommend me the best ati driver you guys tested with crossfire?

try dont OC ur proc bro, i wanna see what happen when u're running at lower power consumption
cf wont be that high bro, gpu2 will be less than 10C higher than gpu1, but ur 255C max looked quite a buggy issue of gpu-z
check ur psu power connectors for bent pins etc, sometimes imperfect sleeving causes bad results  sweat.gif

thanks owi, i'll try my proc @ stock next time tomorrow. i think gpu-z is trolling, now my gpu1 vrms shows 131ºC when i ran furmark for 10mins. that thing is underwater and never gone above 70ºC at stock.

i'll check them pins too.

haven't try that new card on single config yet. will do so when i redo my loop this weekend tongue.gif

can try this: restart/boot your system. press F8 before windows logo come out. select boot using low resolution setting. your system will boot at the lowest resolution available (maybe 800 x 600). change resolution to your preference, and reboot. cross fingers that it will work smile.gif

How do i know the minimal CPU speed (i7 930) 4 5870 CF?
i wanna make both GPU+CPU fully utilies their full potential...(not 100% load)
now running 3.8GHz 4 5870CF stock speeed..

should i put some more power on CPPU like 4GHz or 3.8 will do just fine?

i am looking for the answer to this question myself. the best way i could think of is to OC both cpu and gc, run the best benchmarking program until there's no more performance gain.

any other ideas?

1. clean install your driver
2. don't run any other program that monitor/manage your gpu voltage (gpu-z, everest, afterburner). if you have to, just have only one program running (CCC only)
3. if all else fail, RMA the card. should get a 1 to 1 exchange
