They really should phase out. No point keeping the 5000 series anymore.

Can't wait for the 6900 series. Now 1120 SP can match 1440 SP card. Imagine a full 1600SP (like the 5870) card. *drools and daydreams*

Sigh, so disappointed with the 6900 series. Looks like its time to move to the green camp. The GTX570 sounds so much better than the 6970 right now.

Why don't just wait for much later series such as 560? or maybe the 28nm generation? smile.gif

Once the 560 releases, I think AMD might lose in this series ( Even though I'm AMD fans  cry.gif ). I never thought in budget wise, Nvidia has actually handled it quite well this time. And you can see that in terms of power saving, the difference is just 70 ( I saw the review ). But seriously, after i saw the price and review, I personally felt that I'm buying 5870 is worth it 1 year ago. XD. But hey, driver is still no mature yet, so 6000 series will really push up the power to the max. That time it might be push to 70% diff tongue.gif

I was an avid ATI supporter since I got my 4850. But I was really disappointed by the 6970. I was actually hoping it'll be able to be on par or beat the GTX580. But turns out, it can't even beat the GTX570 properly. And it costs ~100-200 more than the GTX570. Unless there's a miraculous driver release that somehow boosts the performance by 20-30%, I'd say that the 6900 series ain't worth it at all. Either that, or 6950 drops to RM900 and 6970 to RM1100 or so.

That's unlikely to happen unless Nvidia cuts the prices for GTX570 which is also unlikely to happen. The Cayman was supposed to be a 32nm part, had it been 32nm it would be faster than the GTX580 and use less power while being priced like right now.

EDIT
I forgot that the HD6950's MSRP is 300USD only,so it's relatively cheap and fast.Quite worth it imo unlike the HD6970 which equals the GTX570 but costs more.HD6950 is only 10%+- slower than a HD6970  brows.gif
Now waiting for the HD6950's price to drop back to MSRP

Yeah. I just realized that too. $299 should be around RM950. IIANM, most people are selling the 6850 at around RM1100 which is almost the price of the GTX570. Well, I guess its worth it if it drops price. RM950 for a card that can outperform the 5870 @RM1300 sound good tongue.gif

this is juz a simple rework, ntg serious
i work in a plastic injection factory and this kind of rework is quite usual

juz now went to danga city mall, hd6950 price is near rm1200
while gtx 570 and hd6970 are around rm1350
if the pricing is like that then hd6950 is out of my selection
now very headache to choose between gtx 570 and hd6970  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

CEX selling 6950 at RM1065 and GTX570 at RM1198. For me, I'd grab the GTX570.
