what's wrong? the latest driver in amd's site already support hd6800 cards.

its recommended to use cat 10.10e

try von modded driver

im using it so far no bsod

never notice gpu core didnt go to lower clock when idle

gonna wait 10.12, this driver didnt give me problem currently

maybe not enough power..psu?

your card not overheat or anything?

make sure u have enough room for 6870 before u purchase

get myself 6850 and just enough too fit in this asus

How old is the power supply? The 12V rails should provide enough power even for two HD6850s. There's a possibility though, where the power supply can no longer work properly. Have you tried testing the whole system with a different power supply?

my silverstone st560 can provide enough juice for 6850+3 hdd+dvd rom+ i7 920 +sound card +7 fans
iirc it all about good rails when it gfx

also..my friend told me that if it got lot of 12v rails..that extra rails power will be given exclusively  to the another pcie connector
so that mean u already lost 18 A on another rails 
i'm not sure if it true or not maybe some guru here can provide some insight to this

also i can confirm that ss 400watt with dual 12v rails..18a each can run hd6850 + e5200+ 2 hdd + dvd rom
(my neighbours run this setup)

. Just get another power supply for now to test. A 450W power supply should be sufficient ( 450W as its true power, not the powerlogic power supplies where it states 450W but in reality only produces 230W of power ).

i believe that your psu is ok for what u have
but it depends on the power available on the 12v rails and which ones power the CPU and gfx.
did u try second pcie connector ?
or if u have ..molex to pcie connector to try it

somehow i suspect that intel motherboard is the culprit

if it can support 8800gt sli, it should be fine supporting single card

8800GT have a TDP of around 105w (on the nets)
hd 6850 got around 121 watts based on guru3d power consumption
so it is higher than previous

105/12=8.75A
121/12=10.08A

2 Amps more than before

yea but sli power will pull from second pcie connector which probably from another rails...i guess  no problem
but single high amps gfx probably going to have problem.
either u tried hd6870 just to check your mobo not bias to nvidia and it got no compatibilty problem with hd6800 series

oo..yea maybe different rails on different cable
that molex thing dont work....i'm start running out of idea..
possible irq management problem ?
