About that promo 5850, that's something to grab for CF'ing...
It seems some 5870/5850 owner's including myself are pretty quite about their GC despite all these 68xx talk...but for sure the silence will be broken once 69xx is out. laugh.gif

5850 user (like me) bought the card last year October (or last year. period.) with the price remains the same for a whole year, that's plain great!
It's the recent other remaining 5850 user's who bought the card in mid~ish 2010 who are feeling down a bit. sweat.gif

Paid nearly RM1k for the performance of the 5850 is not that bad during the 2009-2010 era (yeah, graphic card are easily outdated!), and still not that bad to still keep using it for the next 1 year.

BUT I keep my finger crossed until the 69xx series will be launched near Xmas, prolly will make the 58xx users regret for sure IF the price is reasonable! ....but speaking for the 58xx user's let's hope not laugh.gif

5850 xfire overkill for ur 19" monitor lah~~tat's y many ppl ask u y still using 19" haha~19" single 5850 enuff oredi~
*
Single 5850 still a bit overkill for 19", perhaps a 6850, but since 5850 has became cheaper (2nd-hand price), better get that. Still, the 5850 is future proof for the next 1~2 years...
Been using 5850 on my 24" for a year now, excellent fps, and the last time I OC'ed was last April, because of this game, METRO 2033... sweat.gif

Probably the 6970 is a more expensive version of 6950 so AMD could rake in more $$$, but of course they underestimate the consumers for being smart enough to figure out this unlockability of the 6950 to the 6970.

Btw any 5850 user's here feel poised to buy 69xx?
I am one and still felt that the 5850 (OC'ed to 5870's performance) is a good card until today....dunno why, I got the cash but don't feel temped to buy the 6950 even when I visit LY Plaza quite often...
the 5850 still gets high fps on the current games. Getting above 50fps+ on FO:NV on High settings for e.g. (and commendable fps with Ultra settings)

It's actually half correct to say the 6 series 'replaces' the 5 series, the 6 Series technically fills the gaps between the cards within the 5 series range.
Like been displayed on the post above me...the y-axis (saturn85).

But IMO i think the 6850 truly replaced the 5830 since market wise the 5830 seems too expensive for it's performance, therefore had to be booted out, plus paying the cheaper price for 6850 for better/equal performance to the more expensive 5830 is more favourable to the consumers.

I like the 6870 bridging the gap between 5850 and 5870, plus you can easily OC the 6870 to equalize the 5870's performance.

The addition of 6950 and 6970 are logical, since the 5970's gap with 5870 is rather huge, therefore need two cards to bridge the gap; and it's more flexible for consumer's this way.

The 6990, is just to piss off Nvidia I guess tongue.gif
