QUOTE(Riddhy @ Oct 25 2010, 01:32 AM) 6850 vs gtx 460 1gb what do u guys think? I think it's around the same, except the GTX460 will be better if the tessellation is on extreme level. Just look at HAWX2's performance..gtx 460 1gb can oc upto 850 6850 around 920 which one will give more avg fps at max core oc? |

QUOTE(8tvt @ Oct 25 2010, 06:22 PM) yah u better begging.. Oops! Must have read wrongly your post. What do you mean then?i'm not talking about performance.. that extra shaders should be the engineering sample.. nothing wrong with that.. but i doubt AMD would sell it.. savvy.. It's okay for companies to release different spec hardware for reviews and mass market? |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Oct 28 2010, 09:09 PM) Do you use your GPU to play games more or see benchmarks only? If you only want to play with benchmark always, get the Nvidia now. I think GTX470 @ 800MHz will beat HD6870 @ 1000 MHz in games (from Tweaktown benchmarks).Else, get the AMD. AMD Radeon HD6870 pawns GeForce GTX470 in most games also. If it's OCed, it pawns GeForce GTX460 OCed easily as well as the GeForce GTX470 OCed. |

QUOTE(kaiserreich @ Oct 31 2010, 01:44 AM) I'm getting crackling/rattling sound from my reference HD5850. After some googling, it should be the bearing issue. I think can, as long as it's under warranty. RMA'ing will take a long time though (1 month+).When I have this problem, I'll hit the casing and the bearing gets back into place. I can't reproduce the issue, sometimes it happens, sometimes it does not. Can I RMA this thing? |

If already got HD5870, then no need to change (not even an upgrade)... Performance about the same, even for Tessellation..
I think HD6970 performs better than GTX480 by 10%, consuming less power, and then GTX580 performs better than HD6970 by 10%, consuming a lot more power, as always. |

Besides, Metro 2033 is more optimized on NVIDIA's shader configuration. It's not just tessellation. It scales well with NVIDIA SP, not core clock. e.g. GTX480 will be faster than GTX460 by 40% on the same clock due to 40% more SP.

QUOTE(ralph9898 @ Nov 2 2010, 11:27 AM) [WTA] 6850 vs 6870 in oc performance It's simply because HD6870 and HD6850 is using the same exact chip, albeit different BIOS. The OC'abilty of the chip is the same. Both can reach ~930MHz, but since HD6870 is already clocked at 900MHz, the gain is not that much. To distinguish HD6850 and HD6870, they purposely clock the HD6850 at 775MHz. It's purely a marketing decision -- to release 2 SKUs to counter GTX460's 2 SKUs. MSI HD 6850 Gigabyte HD 6870 6850 achieved a 973Mhz and 6870 964Mhz... Wanna ask why 6850 got so much oc potential of nearly 200Mhz increased, yet 6870 is like a lil bit low in oc only 64Mhz increase?? Btw the 2 cards differ by at least RM 150, is it worth to buy 6870 than 6850?why? thanks sifu sifu~ AMD could've released HD6850 at 900MHz SKU, but chooses not to, as it will kill HD6870. Just as NVIDIA, they could easily release 800MHz GTX460, but that will kill off GTX465 and GTX470. |

Black screen and no video output? If you think it's faulty, then sure can RMA. 3 years warranty is 3 years from the date of manufacturing (d.o.m). Usually there's a serial sticker on your card to identify the d.o.m.just wanna know about RMA or warranty, me dont know much about this , because at box it stated 3 years warranty, kalau salah thread arap tunjuk kan thread yg betol |

QUOTE(waie @ Nov 12 2010, 01:48 PM) Not really. Cayman's (HD6900) architecture and Bart's (HD6800) architecture is different. It'd be hilarious if Cayman's tessellation performance ends up faster than GTX580, since NVIDIA has already marketed on that feature so heavily. QUOTE(tech3910 @ Nov 12 2010, 10:25 PM) u r blinded by the fact dat wen AMD mention TPD, it always means the max power consumption of their card while wen nvidia sai gtx580 has ~250w TPD, it is saying average power consumption instead of peak. As the chip goes bigger, there will be more transistor leakage (IINM it rises exponentially). Which means AMD will have to run the GPU at higher voltage.fermi real TPD is >300w lets do som basic logic. 6870 1120 sp. 6870 crossfire peak power consumption is still a lower then a single gtx580 (i can prove it if u wan). now, lets say a 6970 has 1920 sp, rumored. so it is safe to say that 6970 is sure to be <300w TPD. also, 6990 will most like to to be 2x cayman pro instead of xt. |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Nov 14 2010, 03:10 PM) Very likely to happen if it doesn't beat GTX580's performance (RM 1500?). If it does beat, then I'd expect around RM 1600 for HD6970 and RM 1200 for HD6950. RM 2000 for HD6990. Don't forget the markup price in Malaysia This post has been edited by Demonic Wrath: Nov 14 2010, 03:33 PM |

QUOTE(AlphaBeta @ Nov 15 2010, 12:59 AM) Thanks for the quick reply, Definitely worth it (90% improvement on average). And yes, you can max out Crysis, depending on the resolution. With a HD4870, Dead Space 2 and Crysis 2 shouldn't have any problem though since Crysis 2 is playable even on console. In your opinion...is it worth to upgrade from 4870 to 6870? Im planning to play games like Crysis2, Deadspace2...not sure my 4870 would be able to play at max setting... I tried max on Crysis 1 and SplinterCell:conviction...lags very bad...so im thinking of upgrading.. |
