from cayman architecture cayman architecture dual graphic engine, are that mean that graphic card have started real multicore era(considered that shader processor as thread rather than core) p.s- some site declared antilles, and cayman slide with spec are fake, oh well This post has been edited by zerorating: Nov 24 2010, 08:59 PM

QUOTE(law1777 @ Nov 25 2010, 06:58 PM) im on 10.10e.. i found out that when u set to supersampling even on idle your gc temp can go up alot than u set it to the lowest or adaptive.. scary eh do you open internet browser, most likely your browser have hardware acceleration which make antialliasing takes effect, maybe windows aero also take it

QUOTE(ZhaoYun @ Nov 26 2010, 10:53 AM) I am using a Corsair 550W CPU with 5970, 4 hours straight blackops is no problem at all. blackops have cpu lag issue, your hd5970 not throlled? Beside black ops are too easy for hd5970, maybe if you put max setting. gpu usage wont be higher than 40%,hence less current used QUOTE(N1ck @ Nov 26 2010, 01:47 AM) Passive 6850 by sapphire! I wonder when will it be released here! http://www.techpowerup.com/135146/PowerCol...phics-Card.htmlbecause malaysia are hot country, i bet powercolor wont release this model, scared of massive rma, beside passive-cooler are dependent to environment temperature This post has been edited by zerorating: Nov 26 2010, 11:02 AM

QUOTE(8tvt @ Nov 26 2010, 11:21 AM) 6850 not that hot.. it's possible to use passive cooler here.. its possible (for other country, not hot country like malaysia), see how many temperature when running on place without a/c when the stock cooler reaches 80c

hello guys, another news of cayman http://translate.google.de/translate?js=n&...P9001618J1.htmlfor hd6970 seems like typically 50% increase of performance over hd6870, assuming that gtx580 are 39% higher performance than hd6870, this card may be faster, but priced at same price of 3999yuan with gtx580, and 6950 was priced 2999yuan in china. There also humor that hd6970 may also faster than hd5970,Stay tuned p.s -from the image, its seems like hd6900 dont support 3/4 way crossfire, maybe because of dual-engine that was used for cayman(which may similar to crossfire scalling as well) This post has been edited by zerorating: Dec 3 2010, 09:39 AM

QUOTE(chenhui87 @ Dec 3 2010, 02:53 PM) so,hd6970= 3999 yuan=RM2000+- 6950=2999 yuan=RM1500+- so pricey~~ we cant do anything lol..its seems like hd6900 series are targeted for enthusiastic market..they get their gtx580 at 3999yuan while in our country, can get as low as rm1600 im estimate that msrp should be: hd6950=usd350 hd6970=usd450 since msrp of hd6870 are usd239.99,increase of 60usd for hd6950@usd299 seems impossible This post has been edited by zerorating: Dec 3 2010, 03:19 PM

QUOTE(wildwestgoh @ Dec 3 2010, 04:33 PM) Should zerorating correct then HD6950 should be around RM1,100++ HD6970 RM1,1417++ If HD6970 place same price with GTX580, which is RM1,600 (lowest can be found right now) then HD6950 should be around RM1,200++ If HD6950 is RM1,500, then buying 2 HD6870 is much worth since HD6970 only 50% faster (according to rumor). its just my estimation, maybe hd6950 should be around usd319.99/usd329.99 Hope amd can used the old hd5850/5870 msrp pricing back at usd269/usd399 This post has been edited by zerorating: Dec 3 2010, 04:42 PM

hd6900 are not disappointment guys hd6970 are fighting against gtx480/gtx570, guess the pricing will be similar to hd5870 when released beside hd6900 uses new arc(4shader,dual engine), guess the driver will be improve the performance later on

QUOTE(ventrilocks @ Dec 14 2010, 10:06 AM) erk..not comparing with 580?? if the performance cannot beat 580...the new architecture fail.. =.=" dont forget the die size are only 390mm they can make 520mm die size gpu if they want to they still in delimma becoz create >400mm hd2900 failure, so my guess they wont make big die gpu, unless their market share >70% This post has been edited by zerorating: Dec 14 2010, 10:48 AM

QUOTE(AMDAthlon @ Dec 14 2010, 11:35 AM) I think everyone knows it right? AMD Graphics is all about price/performance Im not suprised if the HD 6970 might not be able to compete GTX580 but that where price/performance come there also some rumor that current hd6970 have disabled shader, maybe the new arc are too advance,so got yeild issue, just hope they will price as hd5850/5870

QUOTE(ventrilocks @ Dec 14 2010, 06:50 PM) still..new archi shuld be more performance.. erm if improvement,it should be minor when using new arc, unless u said smaller manufacturing technology, can accept la,coz more transistor, more performance This post has been edited by zerorating: Dec 14 2010, 07:02 PM

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Dec 15 2010, 09:58 AM) Nope. Basically, when finding a GPU. You should never see those VRAM(how many MB or GB), what GDDR(like DDR3, DDR4 blah blah) and so on. They're nothing more than marketing gimmick. Go to GOOGLE. Find benchmark for the specific GPU you want. For example: GeForce 9500GT 1GB still lose to a Radeon HD4850 512MB. Try read my PC Q & A at my signature. It's good for newbie and those who want to know more about PC and not being cheated by salesman. but sometime people are brand loyalty, nvidia over ati, some people choose over graphic card cooler design(which you wont see 99% of time, when using closed casing

QUOTE(Kit II @ Dec 15 2010, 10:45 AM) i googling cool info tho.. i guess i can share with anyone here 512MB VS 1GB video memoryBenchmark test of same GPU but different video memory amountyeah u may be right.. 512 is enough video memory may affect little bit performance difference with low resolution, but memory speed and width size may effect performance. High number of memory may relevant on big view distance, texture quality, screen resolution This post has been edited by zerorating: Dec 15 2010, 10:49 AM
