My Desire-friend said he has to set to Flight Mode in order to play Nova. And his is the *ahem* version.

Anyone tried the *ahem* version and do we have to set to Flight Mode as well? blush.gif

just wondering,
do you know how desire root and all? flash the firmware? before i buy SGS im my self eyeing on desire, and read like it kinda hard to root than us.... is it true?

i feel like SGS the most easiet to root/upgrade (thank god for that)
*
Not too familiar with their rooting. But definitely not as EASY as our execute "update.zip" file rooting/flashing method. lol

Desire has 1 major problem that requires their user's time to root, which is to solve the bottleneck on the ROM space, which is 512MB. They are forced to use A2SD+, which requires a lot of modding here and there. My friend played with it the whole day to finally get it to work, then realised that the EXT2 he formatted can only utilize up to 1gb of space, which he allocated 2gb from his SD card. So ended up he has to re-partition the whole thing and redo again.

I guess I could say that I was luckier when it comes to this. lol.

the conclusion.. vlingo voice (from samsung apps) do really need an internet connection to use the "tap & speak" function.. is it? if can use without internet kan more better.. any way to "bypass" this? biggrin.gif
*
Similarly, Google's voice recognition on Froyo requires internet connection as well. I guess the database is just too big to be stored in the phone's memory.

I did my own recording based on the results from the Battery Stat widget, from time to time.

Yeah, I was really depressed on the weak battery life on my phone earlier. Which has improved much more after I did Voodoo Beta4 + display lagfix. rclxms.gif

Yes you do, if you are going to be adventurous with your phone. Otherwise, don't bother. smile.gif

Aside from that, try connecting your phone to PC USB. Then when the battery charging picture is showed, when you press on any buttons. Try the 3-button salute again. It might work.

yeah..i know..but sometimes we i connect my phone using normal connect mode..copy files option does not appear even after i choose mass storage or media player...but when i enabled usb debugging, copy file option always available every time i connect to my pc..albeit of samsung kies option..
*
I noticed that, if I connected the cable to my PC before starting up my phone, the USB mount option will not appears most of the time. If I connect the cable when the phone is still active, then I'll see the USB mouting option. So I have to unplug the cable and plug it in again so I get that USB notification.

Perhaps the USB debugging mode does solve this minor problem.

Try this. I used this for rooting. Don't bother running the EXE file. Just run the .bat files.

I've rooted my Eclair via rootme.bat. Make sure your adb.exe is in working condition, meaning your USB driver is correct. As for how to use ADB, check Google.

Nope, actually Desire HD is with Adreno 205 which is about the same performance wise like the PowerVR SGX 535.
Hummingbird is equipped with PowerVR SGX 540.  biggrin.gif

Well, it's claimed by the manufacturer ma.

But initial benchmark does show a slightly higher fps in 3D games, compared with SGS.

wait for this!

The Samsung Galaxy S2 rumor has been floating around the internet for several months now.  It's been discussed by Android enthusiasts at various blogs, and in our own forums as well, and generally written off as an Android phone-geeks dream.  Have a look at it's supposed specs:

4.3-inch SAMOLED2 display at 1280x720 and 340 dpi
2 GHz CPU
1 GB RAM, 4 GB ROM, 32 GB storage with microSD slot for cards up to 32 GB
8 MP camera with full HD video recording
Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, A-GPS
Accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity and all the other Android standards
Running Android 3.0
Its supposed release date is Q1 2011.  Why are we revisiting this now?  We've seen HTC's new hardware in the Desire HD and Desire Z/Vision, and Motorola has shown us the Droid Pro and Droid 2 Global, but Samsung has been quiet about their future plans for a high end phone. I'm sure they have something in the works, and Samsung likes to go big in the hardware department.  I'm pretty certain that this isn't really the next Samsung Android phone, but I have to wonder how close they can get.  I'd buy it, and I'm sure more than a handful of you guys would, too.  [itrans (Russian) via UnwiredView]
now thats a tough specs for SGS2! flex.gif almost everything times 2 to our SGS!  laugh.gif

*
RM50 worth of calls, SMSes and/or MMSes. But do remember, these amount of calls, SMSes and MMSes that you've spent are taxable with 5% govt tax.

As for the other RM48, it's for your 500MB data transfer, be it GPRS, EDGE or 3G/HSDPA. MMSes download/upload are excluded from this.

All these specifics should includes roaming as well where roaming charges are applied.

Hope this clear things up for you. And yeah, don't bother trying to understand Maxis bill. It's bloody vague and complicated.

I think if the 3-button salute doesn't work. By plugging in the PC USB cable, it might work. For those who bricked their phone and never managed to get their 3-button salute to works.

I applied Voodoo Beta 4 kernel yesterday night right before I sleep. The phone and I was sleeping and untouched for 8 hours 14 minutes. When I woke up, 52% battery left from full. Reason, the phone shows running for 7h 57m.

My battery saving phone became super battery eater. Almost 50% in one night.
*
I assume you didn't reboot after the lagfix?

No idea why your phone stays awake, somehow Voodoo Beta4 works for me, especially on battery saving department. biggrin.gif

do you or any guys here noticed that after the phone calls, the screen will become greenish like 1-2 second when you move the phone away from your ears?
i didn't noticed this happens before.

i happened after i apply voodoo pre-4,but i m now on z4mod and its still persist.

i wonder if this is normal unsure.gif
*
Never notice that, whether I'm on/off BT/wired handsfree. Whether the other party hangup first or I hangup first.

As I always look at the screen to make sure it's disconnected before putting back into my pocket.

Could it be some other patch? Did you apply the display patch that comes with Voodoo as well, or just plain lagfix?

Hello there people. I would like to learn more bout the sgs and i hope u guys can help me answer these few questions.

1. Does the facebook app use push or pull to get new notifications? Because i have read articles and watched videos where ppl use pull to get new notifications for the facebook app.

2. Let's say u get  10 emails on your phone; i know that you will be able to see your new notifications through the top notification bar. But does the email icon on the homescreen display the number of unread emails u have like the badges system they have on the iphone?

3. If you have read 2 emails out of the 10 emails, will the email icon at the notification bar still appear?
Thanks guys. smile.gif
*
1. Nope

2. Nope

3. Nope. Unread mail count would be refresh when you get new email push, provided if you use the Samsung Email push app.

Hi guys, I just got my SGS and I'm actually a bit embarrassed to ask but here goes, how do I "enter" when using swype to compose SMS?
*
Swype is a rather "smart" keyboard.

For built-in apps, it will display a smiley icon ":-)" instead of carriage return "90-deg bent arrow". You just have to live with it, if you can't press enter. It's a discussed matter on the net and there isn't a fix to this so far.

If you are looking into entering carriage-return for SMS, you can either switch the input method (keyboard) or use 3rd party SMS application. Handcent SMS is a good start.

Actually I'm wondering if Voodoo would slowly become slow like OCLF?
*
Reboot the phone. The lag is fixed again.

The only shortfall is access to database is slow on Voodoo. 1 example is my WhatsApp. Incoming/outgoing messages will jammed my phone for 1-2 seconds.

True, this is quite irritating.. does it happen in RFS?  shakehead.gif
*
Yes it does. RyanZA of OCLF claimed that his lagfix would fix this issue which was caused by fsync call on file close. Due to the design of the NAND ROM on SGS, the fsync performance was really slow, hence his fix targeted on reducing the number of file close as well, which in turn reduces lag. The reason why Voodoo doesn't speeds up database write is because almost every apps are designed to execute file close, which in turns calls fsync (by the ROM's firmware) that has impact on performance.

That would be the explanations given by RyanZA, or somewhere along the line as I read from XDA.

I meant centralized push like how BBM, Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare work on the BB platform - immediate notification, no stupid shit like polling every number of hours or so. Man, I really miss the superb notification features on my old (now dead) BB Curve 8900.. K-9 push mail on SGS works nearly 90% as well as the push mail on the BB, so no big issue for me.

Palm.. I miss my old Treo too. Somehow I never quite liked the Pre.

I presume u can't use Samsung's Social Hub anymore after you upgraded to Froyo fw? The push email by Samsung is quite good.
