### STORY ###
Welcome to Vegas. New Vegas.

It’s the kind of town where you dig your own grave prior to being shot in the head and left for dead…and that’s before things really get ugly. It’s a town of dreamers and desperados being torn apart by warring factions vying for complete control of this desert oasis. It’s a place where the right kind of person with the right kind of weaponry can really make a name for themselves, and make more than an enemy or two along the way.

As you battle your way across the heat-blasted Mojave Wasteland, the colossal Hoover Dam, and the neon drenched Vegas Strip, you’ll be introduced to a colorful cast of characters, power-hungry factions, special weapons, mutated creatures and much more. Choose sides in the upcoming war or declare “winner takes all” and crown yourself the King of New Vegas in this follow-up to the 2008 videogame of the year, Fallout 3.

Enjoy your stay.

### KEY FEATURES ###

Feel the Heat in New Vegas!
Not even nuclear fallout could slow the hustle of Sin City. Explore the vast expanses of the desert wastelands – from the small towns dotting the Mojave Wasteland to the bright lights of the New Vegas strip. See the Great Southwest as could only be imagined in Fallout.

Feuding Factions, Colorful Characters and a Host of Hostiles!
A war is brewing between rival factions with consequences that will change the lives of all the inhabitants of New Vegas. The choices you make will bring you into contact with countless characters, creatures, allies, and foes, and determine the final explosive outcome of this epic power struggle.

New Systems!
Enjoy new additions to Fallout: New Vegas such as a Companion Wheel that streamlines directing your companions, a Reputation System that tracks the consequences of your actions, and the aptly titled Hardcore Mode to separate the meek from the mighty. Special melee combat moves have been added to bring new meaning to the phrase “up close and personal”. Use V.A.T.S. to pause time in combat, target specific enemy body parts and queue up attacks, or get right to the action using the finely-tuned real-time combat mechanics.

An Arsenal of Shiny New Guns!
With double the amount of weapons found in Fallout 3, you’ll have more than enough new and exciting ways to deal with the threats of the wasteland and the locals. In addition, Vault-Tec engineers have devised a new weapons configuration system that lets you tinker with your toys and see the modifications you make in real time.

Let it Ride!
In a huge, open world with unlimited options you can see the sights, choose sides, or go it alone. Peacemaker or Hard Case, House Rules, or the Wild Card - it’s all in how you play the game.

- RadAway heals radiation poisoning over time.

So who's got it? rclxms.gif

Are you going to play HARDCORE from the start?

Did you resist getting the 'Wild Wasteland' perk?

Is it possible to use the add-ons on a current game? Lots of people are having issues with the invalid code and they're saying that it only works on a new game after using the code. That would suck.

I want the canteen since in short play yesterday was having trouble staying hydrated. Standing in front of the water pipe to drink only goes up one bar at a time.

if its like Metro 2033 there will be multiple spots where you can retrieve your add on content. But I think you can warp back to the doctors place and there probably be a box or something containing all the stuff there....at least I hope so

@falconhour - it's after customizing character, special in beginning of game. you will get a full screen prompt to select hardcore. you can de-select it anytime in the game but to get the achievement (and mysterious bonus, if any) you cannot turn it off at all.

Then my friend said that he also was at the strip but was level 15...after beating my friend with a magazine tongue.gif... i realize that I am making the same mistake I made 2 years ago where I got so far into the main story I forgot the side quests...so putting it off for a while and going exploring...I want to find Danny Trejo's character....and Zach Levi's

You're very far ahead! I'm some ways back just arrived in NoVac and leveled up to 6 only. Finding it tough to make space as was used to Fallout3 with safehouse storage. There will be one at the Strip where you can store snowglobes as well but that's a little far ahead.

Finding it tough to survive with no water storage, low ammo and next to no caps. No sight of canteens yet. It's a little unrealistic as you'd think the first thing anyone would do before venturing out into the inhospitable desert is to get some kind of water container - even a plastic bottle, and filling up with clean water from Goodsprings.

@ red ninja, thanks for advise on the Hardcore mode. I realized the same when I have customized my character and heading out form Doc place.

Just another question, what is the different (in term of Achievement - of coz gameplay wise woud be obvious) if I select Hardcore mode and choose Easy or Very Easy difficulties? I browse thru the Achievements and it didnt mentioned or care what difficulties you're playing as long if you choose Hardcore to get the 100GS. Is that true?

tbh have not researched much about it. it should not have an impact on it. i'm not uber hardcore as juset set off with default normal level only smile.gif level difficulty should only be level of enemies - armored, shielded, more damage they dish out, less damage taken with your weapons. that sort of thing.

alright guys...been doing side quests like mad...kind of leaning toward the NCR quests. I am currently level 21.

One annoying thing Bethesda likes to do is make a mission where you have to wait until a time where the mission actually happens...its kind of funny seeing my character just sitting down on a chair and waiting for something to happen. laugh.gif

Hitman190 - how many hours in did it take to get to Level 21?

I'm sorta stuck on Level 8 now, tried to head to Vegas but could not get past the Deathclaws. Finding the game tough.

not that long really 18 hours in right now...

:Speechcraft is because its usually worth 80-120XP if done correctly
:Barter is exactly the same
:Missions from Factions like the Kings are worth 1000XP and its so simple I didnt need to fire a shot
:There is one perk that lets you level up again
:Finally...just find as many powder gangers and creatures...then kill them tongue.gif

Yeah I went head to head with a deathclaw...I couldnt manage to kill him so I went around him...Is he waiting for you in the mountain pass? If so just go around the mountains...you will reach Vegas in no time at all

Will remember bout Jacobstown

I feel so nerfed compared to Boone. He uses the same gun I used before but one shot one kill. Comparatively I'm emptying a whole magazine/clip into something and barely makes a dent. It doesn't make sense.

Almost made it to The Strip. Have to come up with $2,000 caps or there's a passport workaround for 1/4 the price. Gonna go try that out.

get the passport trust me it works and the robots are dumb enough to fall for it...i had like 1010 caps when I was there and I sold my cigarettes and some of my food but not even that could push the number to 2000 caps...alternatively...

Did all King missions, took some time but it's worth the XP and caps - only got up to around 1,400 caps. Quite lucrative jobs in Freeside. Finally in The Strip now after meeting Mr House so much to do. Still not too high of a level yet.

There is a bug where the game just freezes when it tries to load an area. Encountered it a few times, quite annoying as have to hard reset, then flash red rings boot, then ok 2nd boot. Hopefully it won't corrupt a save one time.

i enjoyed the combat in fable 2, it was fluid and easy to pull off some combos. I think Fable 3 did makes some changes though but I am not sure what they did. I know of some folk who already have the game and posted it on Youtube but I dont want to spoil it for myself...Fable is my game tongue.gif been a huge fan since the very first one came out.

I liked Fable 2 combat, a little simplistic but the rich environment and story really made up for it. Can't miss Fable 3, just get it later after reading all the reviews if can't decide smile.gif

Next play through am not gonna do hardcore. Find it is annoying. Adds realism of course but unnecessary to enjoy the game.

Finally advance storyline of main quest a little bit. Not sure about my choices so far. Quite confusing. It's easy to mess up with faction quests now. The Legion reaaaaally hate me. Didn't even get to visit their camp.

Hate the loading times on The Strip even with game installed. No ability to fast travel anywhere on The Strip area. To go to Lucky 38 suite to change sidekick there are like 3 loading screens .. ugh.

finished the game yesterday but did not get hardcore achievement. so mad cause all throughout kept with it - travel back & forth to get to doc or doc's bag, waste caps and space on ammo, annoying need to eat/drink.

did change the difficulty a few times between normal-easy so maybe that messed it up. so be careful with that.

went with Yes Man ending first time
just finished pro-NCR ending

no 100G points for me. have to start from scratch ugh.

idk about you guys, hardcore mode feels a little intuitive, like the game would probably be *too* easy without it.
At least that's how I feel. It just adds a whole nother layer of authenticity to the game.

damn, I'm addicted to playing caravan. rclxub.gif
Made like 200K of caps and already wasted 73 gaming hours. doh.gif

Found a glitch though. If you're betting with NCR and Legionaire money, you can get double the amount of caps if you win. brows.gif
Here's a quick run up of how to exploit it:-
1) Make sure you have some NCR or Legionaire money on you
2) Transfer all your caps to your companion or store them in your safehouse.
3) Start a caravan game and raise the bet. For example, let's say you up the ante to 100 and your opponent put 100 too. So now, the pot total is 200.
4) Win the game and you'll get that 200 in caps. Your NCR and Legionaire money will be left untouched. thumbup.gif

At first, I thought that the game auto converts my NCR money to caps once I won the hand. Apparently, that is not the case. I'm now a Caravan hustler at Novac siphoning caps from Cliff and the crazy old guy. That girl up in Mojave outpost is quite a Caravan gambler too and bets big. She can bet like 2K+ and that's like an easy 5K winnings if you use that Caravan glitch.

I hate caravan, only stuck with it to get the achievement. Gambling is super easy with Luck at 6 onwards - boosted +1 with Naughty Nightwear which can be bought from Mick & Ralphs in Freeside for less than 200 caps (+10 speech too), and Luck +1 from New Vegas Medical Clinic.

At Luck 9-10 in Blackjack you will get 21 all the time, even with 19 and you hit .. you will get 2! Unfortunately each casino has their own limits 10-15k. It is best to go close to the limit then hit the slots, you can get some mad caps like 30,000+ with one pull. Then you get banned from gambling. It's okay as it is more caps that you will ever need.

Managed to 100% Fallout New Vegas yesterday! Whee!

The hardest achievement was 'Hacking the Mojave'. Terminals are scarce and some you need Science 75-100 or are behind locked doors. If you want to get this easily build a character with focus on science and lockpick skills. Best place to find terminals are REPCONN HQ (7), Camp Searchlight (4 turret controls, outside so no loading screens) and NCR office/embassy on strip (3 - but red/bad karma).

That's why I dont gamble at the casinos. I hate that limit. And I'm already banned at the Tops & Ultra-Luxe BTW. laugh.gif
I dont think 30K would be enough for me. Repairing my Gobi Sniper Rifle would cost around 9K each time I go for a Cazador/Deathclaw/Nightstalker hunting spree. Add that cost to feeding Boone's ammo for his sniper rifle (and he's very trigger happy whenever we go wandering in Legion territory). And I make my own ammo. .308 JSP FTW! My team is very high maintenance. sweat.gif

Any of you guys get that Veteran Ranger Armor? I tried looking everywhere for a Veteran ranger to kill but couldnt find any. sad.gif

I'm using the Van Graff Combat Armor which I stole from the crate in front of Silver Rush. It doesnt add to the weight because it's marked as a Quest Item and it doesnt deteriorate as fast as a normal Combat Armor.

Started playing 2 weeks ago. New Vegas has the feel of the old fallout games. Some of the soundtracks are from the original fallout 1 & 2. Anyone here tried the anti-material rifle? The damage is very high but kinda expensive and few ammo.

That's because some of the dev team are those people from Black Isle. notworthy.gif
I've tried the anti-materiel rifle but didnt like it. I'm sticking to my Gobi. BTW, you can get tonnes of 50mm from Hoover Dam.

I finally got that NCR Combat Armor. The only problem is that no one can repair the helmet. If you wanna repair it, you have to murder more Veteran Rangers to get another helmet (Incidentally, that's how I got the anti-materiel rifle too). Had to reload a previous save when I was at level 29 so that I can take Jury Rigging at level 30. sweat.gif

Went to Vault 22. It was just too awesome. ohmy.gif

Doing the quest to find some brain sample for Rex. LOL..Dam Hoover appears to have some bugs.

My Xbox hang each I explore it ><

The Brotherhood power armor kinda useless in New Vegas. It only give bonus +1 strength + 25 rads. Compare to the original + 3 strength.

I never bring any of companions into Hoover Dam. They'll mysteriously 'disappear'. So I just tell them to wait outside.

Actually, I've been carrying around a dog's brain in my inventory but havent done the Rex quest yet. I killed this Fiend leader on one of the quests from Camp McCurran and one of her dogs had a brain in its inventory. I have ED-E as my non humanoid companion. It's like having R2D2. laugh.gif

Not only that the power armors are quite useless, some of the perks as well. Grimm Reaper Sprint was my favorite perk in Fallout 3, in Vegas it only restores 20 AP upon successful kill. And IMHO energy weapons are dumbed down in Vegas. In F3, I just had that unique Plasma Rifle from the Rivet City quest and used it all through the DLCs. In Vegas, I'm not that keen on using energy weapons. Maybe it's because of the lack of Enclave soldiers. mad.gif

Well, Rex is also a robotic dog. ha ha ha..Got it from Elvis. lol...My favourite weapon is the Sniper Rifle. Much effective in killing those deathclaws. Man, they are tough to kill! Gauss Rifle has a very high damage. Saving it for the heavy armoured boys. Ha ha ha.

For Rex there are a few brains that you can choose from - it will give him different stats increase.
- NCR = nothing
- Lady Gibson's = attack
- The Fort = health
- Violetta (Fiend) = speed

Have you tried looking for the unique weapons? The Q-35 Matter Modulator is pretty sweet.

I got the Q-35 Matter Modulator but prefer the sniper rifle because of the longer range. he he he..

Got the Gauss Rifle after completed the Brotherhood's quest. Not yet tested it.

I used Violetta's brain for Rex. LOL

Quite surprise to see Marcus from Fallout 2 and Cassidy's daughter, Sharon Cassidy.

Quite nice to have her as companion.

Get the Gobi sniper rifle. It uses less AP and carry 6 shots per magazine. Plus it has a critical chance modifier. The only thing it doesnt have is a silencer. So I'm carrying a modded Sniper rifle for those silent kills.

I just got that unique Gauss Rifle, YCS/186. It's cool and all but it takes 4 MF cells per shot. ohmy.gif
