use it wisely.. this is android we are talking about.. the built in task manager would eventually leave apps running for quite some time and it would be a drainer.. kill tasks with ATK when ur done before putting it in ur pocket or driving would potentially save up some juice.. u dont really wanna see some apps like angry birds (which has a good multitasking support for android) running in the background for hours when the phone is idle

Actually, on Android you don't really need a task manager. The built in application manager is very dynamic and using task killer, you will tend to force kill applications which are already scheduled by the in-built memory manager. This way, it will have to reindex applications and rebuild the memory table (so to speak) and this is a waste of resources.

Task managers are not just to kill apps, you can set it to manual and kill apps only when you have to with it. I mainly use it to make sure the apps I need to be up 24-7 stays active in the background without getting killed should memory run low. It also helps manage apps like making my music player the default one for remote activation rather than the built in one. Forget killing apps, there are other useful functions of a task manager

maybe you can read this about how android uses RAM and how it runs tasks. supposedly froyo handles it well enough that you can forgo task killer apps.

Very useful for me.

I've set the ATK auto-kill to "crazy" mode as well as once the display turn-off.

So far save my battery life as well as memory remains 50% above most of time and no logs.
