I tried all the settings, advanced , gamer , hardcore .

seems to me advanced gets best fps , still unplayable at 18fps.

not overclocked, i will not overclock on stock fan itself. maybe one day ill get a notebook cooler and then overclock

edit : wonder if they have dual cooled laptops, at home - hook it up to watercooling system

on the go , surely wont require hardcore graphics, thus air cooled

i hate intel drivers... crashes everytime

so, on power savings mode , i cant use windows live stuff..

anyway, thats the only flaw , besides the weird viewing angle i get when the screen is lit black ( looks like its oversaturated, but maybe its the LED backlit thing, cause i never really seen an LED monitor up close ) . but when the pictures are out, its perfect.

whats there not to love about the laptop besides the drivers

even the fan on the 4820tg is quiet . ( may not be as good as the 3820tg dual cooling, but heck, its doing its job well!)

Usually the standard price will not decrease . they probably will offer more / better free gifts as an attraction .. like a free printer / backpack , etc.

mine came with a free notebook companion pack ( mouse , keyboard protector , LCD cleaner , micro-fibre cloth , cheap china headset , small brush to clean keyboard, kensington lock , card reader , usb hub , mouse pad ) and a free complimentary HP Backpack to replace the acer carrying bag

Crysis 2 ? im on 4gb , yet it lags

tried the demo only though , not sure about the real game

Added on March 24, 2011, 7:46 pmHooraaaay! Im on 2281 now, Windows live messenger works perfectly with no crashes,

1.Uninstalled all graphic drivers from device manager ( windows )
2. Booted into safe mode
3. Driver sweeper to clean ATI folders / registries/files
4. Booted back to normal mode , installed the driver

Now working perfectly!

Though theres one thing i noticed it says direct x 10.0

Should i update it to DX11? is that why im having minor lags on lowest settings in bulletstorm?

It seems that im unable to install directx SDK June 2010 without corrupting the Switchable graphics option lol.

How do i install directx 11 in that case?

ahh , i see, when i played bulletstorm , it looked like dx9 graphics, so i installed the SDK pack .

the changelog said its dx11 . when i installed it, it has dx11 settings as well

edit : turns out the intel error was because my driver signing was off

im curious, how much difference, and how much can u overclock the 4820tg/3820tg?

thinking of overclocking out of pure curiouscity to see the difference, but the thought of testing the stability makes me reluctant

woah, gotta test it out myself, though the only thing is that 4820tg fan is enough to cool stock clocks only , highest temp i got was 84'c ,

maybe next time in the future, dump the laptop in cooking oil to play

4830 is 1 inch thinner? but the 4820tg is only an inch thick with the lid closed :s

edit : How do u overclock the GPU? wanted to play black ops online, but it lags , tried ATItool , but it shows hexademical values

crysis 2 on high , x2 AA , what resolution?

mine have a lil lag on high with AA off and Vsync on , 1366 x 768

honestly, there is no need for 8gb if your using it for normal use without opening 20 tabs in a browser at once ..

gaming? 4gb is more than enough imo

been using CCC 11.4 for a while now, seems that its really good! , my black ops fps is finally smooth, have yet to try crysis 2 yet though ,

black ops - 2x AA , 1366x768 , everything maxed

edit : Crysis 2 on lowest settings is smooth!

overclocking will not damage your GPU /CPU immediately if u go in small steps

Usually only increases temperature of the core

With sufficient cooling, GPU/CPU can be overclocked to extreme values

Problem is , with crysis 2 , cant even maintain a stable 30 fps during heavy scenes . ( My 4820tg ) ,

Overclocking a little to improve FPS and gain a few degrees heat wont harm you rightt

Just make sure your laptop has sufficient space to cool itself .. i put 2 erasers underneath the laptop on the rear to lift it up at an angle to increase airflow ( helps a little )

how do u install the new CCC 11.5/11.5a?

I've been reading around and trying various methods ...

Kept getting errors at installing... CCC wont work as long as i turn on switchable mode ..


Help is much appreciated

edit : I got it working ,

Heres how :

1. Downloaded the Alien9 Hybrid 11.3 drivers .
2. Downloaded the latest 11.5 drivers.
3. placed the 11.5 into the 11.3 folder , overwriting everything it asks
4. Run install.cmd

took me a while to figure it out , LOL
