Aha! Crankiness. First sign of excessive estrogen!
No just kidding, but it's not exactly soy, on itself that causes all these issues. It's the processing, The hexagen, the emulsifier, the heavy metals involved while processing, the usage of sugar (soy, on itself, doesn't need sugar to be sweet. My mom makes soya juice at home. Pretty sweet on itself) so it kinda made me stay off soy. Unless of course, it's from my mom's kitchen.

How bout nutrilite's soy based protein? Any of the problems you mentioned? Coz i'm actually taking that now post-workout.

1. I do not condone the usage of MLM products whether Amway or Nutrilite or Uptrend or Elken or whatever the heck these companies are naming themselves right now because you're actually paying for the marketing, the referrals, the down lines before you get the final product. No matter what they say about how stringent their manufacturing process is, I do NOT believe them, because all companies are out there to make a profit out of the ridiculously lucrative health market, especially not one which company's main income comes from registering new members.

2. Between soy and milk and protein shakes and a piece of steak, I'll choose the shake and then the steak. Fast digesting protein, followed by high amino acid and healthy grass fed beef. Soy's just too expensive because of the lack of quantity (if compared against whey) thus resulting in inefficient E.O.S., and milk is just ridiculously fcuking expensive in Malaysia it turns retarded to drink milk.

3. Soy based protein, is the extraction of the protein from the bean. Why the devil do you want to go through the trouble of squeezing tiny bits of protein, out of a bloody seed, when you can get tonnes more out of the deposits of milk after cheese has been processed in the form of whey? Whey's a byproduct. Soy based protein, ISN'T. Byproduct=Cheap. Main product=Not cheap.

Conclusion? If you don't have some sort of allergy to whey protein, go with the whey protein you see out there. Between you and me, the bulk of whey this world uses, comes from New Zealand, US and IIRC, Netherlands. And c'mon, please....don't be suckered by MLM companies. I've joined one before, and upon studying the business model further and looking beyond the motivational speakers, they still propagate one thing. SELL THE MEMBERSHIP, SO THEY CAN BUY OVERPRICED SUPPLEMENTS FROM US!

Honestly...mass production kills quality. For truly high quality products, rear a cow, feed it, go milk the cow's nipples. I'm giving you two extremes. You'll just have to stick in the middle path.

Thanks for the info there pizzaboy, was really wondering for a long time what the difference would be between regular whey protein and soy protein. Cause they both (on the labels at least ) claim to have 8 grams of protein per 10 grams serving. So i figured the difference is maybe in terms of how fast it is absorbed by our body.

And it is ridiculously expensive as well. Think i'm going to switch to whey after my last bottle of soy protein  smile.gif

In my years of working in the fitness industry, I've found one thing is consistent. When a new product launches, everybody thinks it's better than the last. That's the most retarded statement in the universe. Not only is this industry unregulated which makes new product claims, rather difficult or bodies just don't care about analyzing and deciphering the truth in the statements, it's also full of bullshi*t. It isn't about what coaches like myself say, it's about what they market the product to be, and how people believe in it that matters.

So don't get suckered into this whole marketing lies. Get a pro to tell you the truth from the lies. And no, a nutritionist ain't the pro. I actually listened to a sports nutritionist once say that he didn't wanna have too much protein because it would kill his liver. I was about 1 inch away from stabbing his liver and telling him, a knife would do the job quicker.

Milk fat provides some of the more important minerals and vitamins in milk. By drinking skimmed milk, you're choosing to not enjoy the benefits of fat. Also, fat provides the necessary calories for recovery, and slows down absorption of the proteins in milk, which also makes it very beneficial to drink before sleeping. Having said that, fat also makes the milk taste better. Thus why would you want to avoid consuming fat in milk?

Here's the general idea. If it came from mother nature, don't disturb it. Consume it whole and derive it's benefits. If it came from humans, it's best to avoid it. Pop tarts, snickers, oreos, baskin robbins, yeah good choices to avoid. Whole milk, nope.
