Maybe I should step in to put the Made in China, Made in Finland nonsense to rest.
All Nokia phones undergo the same stringent quality assurance as all devices are made by Nokia. It is only the location which is different. For N8, it is assembled at
Nokia factories located in Finland and China due to the strategic locations provided for Nokia's global markets. This is to ensure that our launch demand is sufficiently met which in turn ensures that Asia Pacific region is being served with the earliest launch possible.
You may also see other models with Made in Hungary, made in Mexico, made in Korea etc. Rest assured, these are all Nokia factories and not factories working under contract for Nokia.
If you examine any other devices, they also have devices made in different countries to ensure their products are logistically efficient in serving the market.
I understand that there is the stigma of inferior Chinese products but let's be honest here, there is no affordable electronic device anymore in the world which doesn't have at least some components being manufactured in China.
P.S: iPhone is made in China, is it more inferior? Brands will fight to ensure quality is being met to their standards regardless of geography.
Well said Kevin. Love the detailed explanation whereby the phones are being assembled instead of being made. I've noticed the word "Assembled" instead of "Made". Consumer should be more careful before they make their pre-judgement towards it. Thumbs up!!!
