I bet you get the same latency that streamyx 1mbps-4mbps users have

probably 200ms lowest average 400

I'm also eager to know if UNIFI makes a difference in Gaming WOW.

So Gamers who are currently using UNIFI for WOW please speak up and let us know.

My area is only getting UNIFI Late Next Year and i plan to get it but the 60+GB limit is kind of worrying to me. (I read it at the site)

yup. i'm using unifi and sometimes it does get laggy (800ms) and i'm the only one using the unifi in the house. tunnelling is the only option for me to get a stable 100-200 ms latency.

pingo,

i don't have unifi but this is what I expected, unifi and streamyx should have same latency to overseas, even the download/upload speed are different

thats our tm, only guarantee local speed

im using UNIFI too, sharing connection with my gf, both playing WoW-thaurissan, on average it is about 300ms latency to 450ms

i dont understand y people keep saying UNIFI and Streamyx have not much difference because based on my exp using both, UNIFI makes Streamyx looks like 56k modem! Example, i open any Youtube link with UNIFI, it loads fully in 20 seconds (3 mins clip/songs), even if i open 5-6 Youtube clips it will take 40 seconds to fully load all of it. web surfing is most of the time instant.

Ok so far i think i didn see which package the reply post.
5mb,10mb or???
And thing is i am currently using 4mb streamyx and my condo will have unifi soon, all i expect from unifi is
IS IT STABLE?
Streamyx and unifi have the speed no doubt and is always the stability and consistency of the speed like lag?
300-400+ms as few poster mention above if thts the case i might as well stick to my 4mb connection and subscribe a tunnel provider?
Unifi just provide better speed for download i believe but gaming i would like to see more reply in this thread pls.
Like do i still need a tunnel service where i am using unifi atm?
How u guys using unifi in raid environment in wow?

i live in one of the apartment in subang, im using UNIFI 5mb package, so far none lag/disconnection, most of the time perfect.

no, i dont need any tunnels for 25 men raids whatsoever, as i mentioned, WE (me and my gf) shares connection everytime we raid in 25 men raids.

i would say it is quite stable, the extra speed is good for patching LOL, i patched the 800mb patch in 30-40 mins.

torenting is good as well, getting at least 500kb/s

**please dont compare unifi with other contry's broadband, we are still FAR away**

i mentioned in 1st page i think... 350-450ms, spiked up to 500ms max in dalaran

**the 60GB limit <--- i dont know how it is implemented, but so far, i downloaded a full series of drama and anime, amount more than 50GB; ++ the patch and all i think i over use the so called "60gb" limit. however, i dont feel any difference, i do speed test everyday once i start my pc, it is average 5.3mb daily.

i asked the TM Net unifi "engineer" <-- guy who installed my unifi, according to him the 60gb is only implemented on the "amount of download items, not including surfing/gaming" [i doubt his statement, sounds like a gimmick sales script to me] but so far so good, 4th month using, everything still ok... value for money

anyone knows how the 60gb works? please explain =]

Dude, packet loss is everything in online gaming.

Its not a big deal if its just downloading movies or surfing the web.

If its proven to be the most consistent QoS then I just might. But I'm not too fond of wireless.

For the time being I'll be sticking with streamyx and do more research on Unifi.

The problem with fibre optic is its range. And I'm a bit skeptical that TM would spend to buy enough numbers of repeaters laugh.gif

I don't mind the download limit at all, especially if its 60GB. I think its good if they implement it.

I agree with this.. seriously.. in the beginning there were some issues, but now its freaking nice.. 450 ping... sometimes 250. I live in sunway by the way. But usually its stable 450

Well lets just say with the normal streamyx.. i used to get 450.. or around the same ping..but.. it was not very stable.. it would either lag or wont lag... and sometimes.. it would just reach horrid levels of latency

I am using Streamyx 1.5mbps line, unplayable without tunnel (can't even log in if character is at Orgrimmar).

From what I hear from my friends using Unifi, they can play 300ms-500ms without tunnel. Apparently (not sure true or not), Unifi has its own bandwidth allocation and not throttled/package-shaping like Streamyx. So although operated by same ISP and supposedly go through the same undersea cables to the US, Unifi has 'higher quality'.

Will get my Unifi next month and post here again then.

I am using Unifi to play on Thaurissan server, averagely bout 200-300ms latency, this is under 20mbps package, with 3 other computers running, streaming movies and downloads.

I only had problem with unifi at the early stage, their hardware seem to break down easily, otherwise I have been a happy customer till now.

UNIFI is the best thing you can get for online games because it is the fastest connection you can get in Malaysia at the moment.

Using 1Mbps as well, but getting 200-250ms.

Speed has nothing to do with latency shakehead.gif

true, probably it's more to locality, i live somewhere near the industrial area in Melaka, and the latency is about there. I have friends using the same line in kl but lagging all day long lol

I would prefer better line to allow gameplay + streaming + whatever.

So UNifi is indeed the best, we have in Malaysia, but as usual, im not those early adopters, so,i will let u ppl to test it first.

Another reason why i will hold on to upgrade to unifi is:

If there's no problem with my current line, then im not gonna touch it.

yes, it getting worst

if play at morn/noon, its good

starting from evening, lag like hell
tunnelling with hpb also no good

obviously, unifi is flooded with users+usage.

i bet streamyx is probably better than unifi now.

you still need tunnel and vpn to avoid sudden packet loss. even with unifi working at full spectrum you are still going to experience a lossy moment of which is normal in this part of the region. Tunneling avoid too much packet loss over the spectrum.

either its screamyx or unifail around my area, i still need tunnel to avoid sudden spike and packet loss.

I have not played WoW for a year now but I've been using unifi 20mps for a while now and I hardly lag for any game I play.

There are going to be times when unifi is shit slow but I gotta say, it's worth it.

from what i heard, unifi is still using dynamic IP, if thats so, you should try to check whats IP range that gives you lowest latency. i give my example, i only use 1mbps streamy package, with Lowerping, i manage to get as low as 250ms using 175.xxx ip range. on the other hand, i can only get 360ms lowest if im using 60.xxx ip range. and of course, in general latency improves as your connection speed increases. ive tried playing with lowerping in nearby Orange CC, that definitely uses faster internet connection than mine, i managed to get 191ms constant and when i checked the ip address, it was 175.xxx. so my simple conclusion is that 175.xxx works better in my area. i hope you guys get the idea. cheers.
