Hi guys, how do I know I'm using Wifi or Maxis 3G to surf the net? Is it must go to offline mode? Your information will help me alot, thanks smile.gif

Goto Settings>Connectivity>Settings and check Switched to WLAN to known WLAN.

Then proceed to connect to your WLAN.

After that you can goto Settings>Connectivity and you can check in Connection Manager where you will see two connections.. one is WLAN and another is 3G. If you tap the 3G, you can check the status and if its using WLAN, it will be listed as inactive.

Alternatively, you can turn off 3G by default, just goto Settings>Connectivity>Settings and change Date use in home network to WLAN only.

BTW,

About the non responsive clicks in browser, I think the way Nokia code the browser to detect click is a bit different from what I used to have with Legend. There is a lag about 1sec to affirm that its the selection and not some accidental touches. You are more likely to register clicks if you place your finger slightly longer on the links than just a short tap on it like it used to behaved in Android/IOS.

It seems like Nokia browser support GIF... all the emoticons are lively, not like in Android.

I cant remember the names of the Nokia team, Glen and David issit?
I wonder if they are reading this? I think Nokia need to fix the double spacebar bug in the stock browser.

Slowly man... actually Im kinda exhausted these few days...

I need to 'HARD RESET' myself into pure Symbian mode in order to test the device with patient... I was kinda brainwashed by Android ways of working.

Actually by using it as day-to-day phone, starting to get used to it already somewhat. The HD prono is kinda nice I have to say... LOL, offtopic...

I will try to use it for a week before I finalize the review of it, with a fair (hopefully, Im no saint) comparison to Legend. I did said that the camera and HD playback is not important for me, and it still is, but still I can feel the awesomeness of it. I think overall, up to this moment, this phone does show the potentials. While its not really a big move forward (I would say kinda like Android 2.1 to 2.2 feel), the whole experience is totally different compared to S60v5 in a sense where everything just moves smooth and fast. If they can make some changes to the homescreen with a more versatile widget collection like half page or full page based, or revamp their browser, it definitely would take it up a notch or two along with the excellent multimedia capability it already have. Nokia has keep more or less the same way, which prompt me to ask the next question. How far can Nokia into the UI revamp. Its obvious they are trying to make it less painful for previous users who were looking for more or less the same UI, thats something I would like to see going forward.

i do not have the double space bar problem but i found that the web browser should simplify...a bit complicated for new user..not user frenly.coz my bro and gf tested and complain.haha

Here's how to reproduce the bug.

Try to reply in LYN. Switch to landscape QWERTY. Type anyword, with prediction on. Try and press the spacebar and then find out how many backspace you require to go back to right after the word. Try another word, then fullstop. Press spacebar and the auto-capital letter is gone, because of the spacebar bug. Press backspace once and its back.

@ BuFung,

Hahaha... most people wont notice it at all. Yes, Samsung Pentile Matrix based AMOLED suffers some discoloration, its not banding, but gradient. Its like the light grey will look slighly pinkish (most of the time). Some are more apparent while some are less apparent.

But thats normal because of the unusual pixel arrangement... like I said previously, flaw by design...

Finally succeed in transfering MKV using mass memory storage, instead of OVI.

There is still room for improvement for the firmware. The problem with 3g connection hang is quite frequent. You have to disconnect the APN in connection manager before it can resume service.

I just switched out my sim card back to my Legend. Today I'm having a nightmare with my N8. A couple of blank screen which force me to restart a couple of times. I'm going to have a day off. Will resume testing with it next day. I'm happy to say the video and camera works very well, although sometimes it would just hang there after taking a snap or after stopping a video recording. Strange.

I tried to split the mkv file into 2 parts and it won't play at all. Perhaps Nokia should be starting to develop their very own file system and software for Windows OS to overcame the FAT32 file size limitation of 4GB.

I just need to take a day off the browser. It's giving me headache.

that wont be happen....the best way is coorperate with microsoft..

MS won't share it. Nokia should take the initiative to develop it. Even though by doing so would totally eliminate mass memory connection, its also promote the usage of ovi suite in the long run because the phone can't talk to Windows without a 'translator', just like Apple Itunes.

Im on a parade right now... every client's place that I visit, I will pull out my N8 for them to test, especially the camera.

My wife is giving me a deadline to surrender the phone... arghhh....

It seem like the camera really grab all the attention. All of them are impressed by the photo and video quality.
