University of Tasmania?

Haha, not even nearby towns such as Geelong or Bendigo?

Tasmania is pure natural beauty smile.gif

One thing is, even summer, the temperature at night can reach 12 or 13, cool enough.
*
Yup, he'll be doing architecture at the University of Tasmania. smile.gif
But, it's a very quiet place.

You should try checking out Australia's Migration Occupation Demand List (MODL) from their Dept. of Immigration & citizenship... Unless I'm mistaken, nursing, midwifery & engineers are pretty high in demand due to skill shortages... and Malaysians seem to have a pretty good reputation with the Dept (compared to Mainland Chinese and Indians here...) May help you in deciding in your course especially if u plan to work overseas 4 a while
*
I've checked the list when I was around 12, LOL, I was so eager to migrate, but not now.

Hmm... not too sure if the States is in a good shape right now... and considering the fact that they don't have a national healthcare system like australia's Medicare or Britians NHS.... you might want to consider the UK or Aust. Instead... or if you still prefer the Americas head to Canada..

On the flipside the USD is goin down the drain... so it may be a good place to get educated... but to work... yeah... head north to Canada at the very least...
*
If Malaysia is a good country with fair education system, I'd choose to stay. cry.gif

Well... don't worry about that too much la... I also have to think for a second or two before I start speaking Mandarin... trying to learn from my colleague from Malaysia as well and he's Chinese-ed as well..

Well I guess I can say my experience has been coloured a little when I was in Year12 since believe it or not I was the only Sekolah Kebangsaan educated guy in there... was a little hard on me to be fair and I was a bit bitter about that... but I do try to keep in prespective that both sides also have judgemental people as well so I try not to judge ppl nowadays...

Well hope we can get along!  nod.gif
*
Racial discrimination is what I'm scared to face in overseas, I can't speak their language well, that's why. This will be a factor that I choose not to study overseas too. cry.gif
My sister-in-law (Eng-Ed) migrated there when he's 12, and fight with the white kids in the school everyday, but still managed get the top ranking proceed to UniMelb Dentistry.

Hmm dun worry too much bout that.. I have seen students from Mainland China who totally are unable to speak english attend my course  shakehead.gif  and Indians who can speak english but with an accent so thick I can't even comprehend...

And melbourne nowadays have lots of asian students here it's the normal, plus they actually welcome us... since it's actually one huge industry.... And most people have gotten used to asians here... the big problem actually is with the Africans and the Middle Easterners here with their attitudes to authority, violence against women and also the fact that they rely heavily on welfare and lotsa children as well....

So to put it short as a wise friend once told me... "you will encounter racism in Australia if you go looking for it... in Malaysia... it just slaps you in the face)
Hope my view helps balance things out a little
*
Australia nowadays is too dominant by Asians, and diminish my chance of getting employed there.
They will possibly not allow you to stay after grad. cry.gif

Keep your chin up.... don't worry too much about the others... I can tell you most Malaysians I know here have done very well and we have a very good reputation here as hard workers and productive people who contribute to the local economy...

As for PR, choose your courses wisely... My cousin is studying medicine and people who are related to the field are in high demand especially in the rural areas.... at first she was worried if the rural farmers will be racist to her... but as she found out they actually are really thankful to her since rural postings are very unpopular with local aussie doctors

Having your sister also helps the situation with your PR application... and according to reports less students from India are coming next year after some bad publicity about Aust in the indian media... so less competition for PRs
And look at it this way... with an overseas midwifery/ biotech degree, you'll be in good stead regardless if you choose to stay or not.. worse comes to worse there's always Singapore!! smile.gif

Well... whatever you do don't give up..... practice it with some bananas or ang moh lang if possible... like I said... it will get better with exp.... I had language exchanges with Chinese and Japanese friends in Uni, basically teaching them grammar and vocab and them teaching me in return Mandarin and Japanese.... Admittedly Japanese was easier for me to pick up... but the Chinese students by the end of the 2nd year can actually hold a decent conversation with me... and that's from when they were totally stuttering as well... and some of them actually found jobs earlier than I did... being able to speak Mandarin fluently as well as some english..

So Jia You!! Ka Yau!! or whatever it is in HOkkien....lol

I'm actually half hokkien n half hakka... but only speak some hokkien and Mandarin
*
Well, thanks for your advice and encouragement.
I'm pretty confident and humorous in some way, stuttering doesn't really affect me, maybe academically, but not socially.
Jia You in hokkien is Pa You or Keh You? sweat.gif I'm Hokkienese, how can you be half hokkien and half hakka, where was your paternal ancestor from?
Message me if you want to talk to me, I don't know whether I'll be back here or not. blush.gif
