ppl say hard plastic everywhere...i think lancer is also the same...no diff..just proton and mitsu only ..
Many new car buyers (or buyers of new car) do not understand that car parts are made to be recycled easily. Single piece molded plastic parts without upholstery are easier to be recycled after disposal.
Fancy coating/wrapping, or multi layer molding (outer soft, inner hard) parts are more energy and time consuming in material separation during recycling process.
Anyway, of all the newer Proton, the latest Waja and Satria Neo have the best plastic quality. Instead of using thin layer of harder composite plastic (such as Vios, sorry), parts of these two cars are softer but thicker for strength. However, there are still room for improvement in texturing and edges refining.
As for Vexus' controversial comment, he's not blowing horns without some valid points. Remember that the head unit has been replaced. This means that
Proton has to make their own molding for the head unit panel, which also INCLUDING the two air vents and the grilles. So this part is one of the many parts made locally by Proton vendor.
I didn't spend much time on the head unit while test driving the car (it was test DRIVING after all),
but I did point out that the engine cover has some sharp edges.

some commented that Inspira back seat is not firm enough? lancer also having the same problem?
I believe that it refers to the retractable arm rest? Yes it's a little flimsy if you really push it sideways, and it's the same for Lancer. I don;t see it as a problem, however.
Added on November 11, 2010, 2:47 amThe introduction of Inspira has elevated the Malaysian buyers' perception on quality. When it comes to interior plastic quality, many imports are no longer better cars, anymore. However, I am not saying that Inspira has no flaw, but the common flaws have been overshadowed by the badges the imports carry.
That, is my point of view as a person who work on cars.
