QUOTE(dafreak @ Apr 14 2011, 10:47 PM) Actually i've followed exactly the guide ... 1. Take it back to a dual core cpu @ stock 3.2ghz - Done this 2. Set CPU-VID to 1.4 (this is higher than what it should need to be but testing for cooling at this point) - Done this 3. Set RAM to 1.5 volts - Done this 4. Set RAM freq./timing to 1333@9-9-9 the rest auto - Done this 5. Set CPU fan to manual and full speed - Dunno how to set this 6. Disable Cool n Quiet - Done this 7. FSB set at 200mhz - Done this 8. HT Link at 1800 (you can work this up higher later) - DOne this 9. Run Core temp and Prime 95 (small FFT) for 10 minutes watching the temps - Done this Screenie ![]() From the guide .. make sure the temp do not exceed 55C before increasing the multi ... But with 64C only with 16x ... I don't dare to increase the multi ... This post has been edited by sang_karim: Apr 14 2011, 10:59 PM |

QUOTE(dafreak @ Apr 14 2011, 11:08 PM) do this in bios, im not familiar with asus bios, so im not sure which part, should be there somewhere.. just notice there is something wrong with my hsf ... damn cheap HSF .... i suggest you try to reapply TIM + reseat your HSF i have the same chip as you, shouldnt reach >60C at all at that volts & clocks |

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Apr 15 2011, 09:52 PM) i have no idea why this happened, how on earth a hsf can be like that? it's working fine for normal use as i'm already use the item for about 7 months ... but after trying to OC for the first time last night ... that's happen causing the temp reading so crazy ... and after what i've experienced using this Cogage HSF .. there is no way i'm gonna use it again ... i have one exactly d same, it's been bout 1 years plus but still goin strong. cogage made pretty good hsf... they dun easily oxidized like d big brother > TR. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Apr 15 2011, 10:12 PM) that cogage of yas prolly pirated one... i've bought the item from LYN forumer here with official receipt from this big company ... and it's a clearence stock sales ... i hope there is no heart feeling if the seller read about ur comment ... it managed to cool my x6 decently, some even use it on i7 870... definitely not d best but wont be too far from that... Added on April 15, 2011, 10:31 pm QUOTE(cloudwan @ Apr 15 2011, 10:20 PM) Hmm thats kinda weird, i just don't really think that bcoz of that it would have cause such drastic temp climb, IIANM those ends are just end-caps to give the cooler a much better look all the bend end-caps still intact quite strong the the HSF ... i would need a plier if i want to take off the end-caps ... i would say a big amount of pressure from leaked pipe caused the end-caps to bend during the prime test ... IMO in some hsf design they just crimped/solder the end of the heatpipe and thus making it not looking that good & to cover it all up they put end-caps to make it look prettier Have u tried removing one of the end caps & check inside if maybe theres a leak at the end of the heatpipes that may have cause pressure building up during pc operating thus dislodging the end-caps? Just my 2 cents ah This post has been edited by sang_karim: Apr 15 2011, 10:31 PM |

Got my HSF replacement and prime test again to check on the temp and this is the result :
![]() 44C .. Increase the multi to 18x and the result as below : ![]() 45C only ... Result for 19x multi : ![]() 46C only ... Unlock 3rd core but stuck at loading windows .. increase Vcore from 1.4 - 1.45 and can start normally ... run test and got this : ![]() Worker#1 failed just after starts priming ... will decrease the multi to 18x and test again ... but later tomorrow coz oredi feel sleepy ... Latest test with 19x multi and 1.475 Vcore ... here teh result : ![]() All test runs well but i've decide to stop after 3 minutes after seeing temperature for TMPIN0 reached 56C ... Priming with 4 core at 1.425 Vcore ... all test runs well and again TMPIN0 reached 56C .. so i've decided to stop ... ![]() This post has been edited by sang_karim: Apr 20 2011, 11:12 PM |

QUOTE(cllee86 @ Apr 21 2011, 11:41 AM) Hmm..from what I have learn from the Sifu here is, try to play with other settings and don't just increase the multiplier. Yeah .. that was the idea ... i'm trying to find the lowest Vcore for the proc ro run stable with all 4 cores ... after that will increase the bus speed and adjust the multi to run at 3.6GHz and after that playing with rams ... thanks for the info bro ... I used to set my multiplier at 18 to get 3.6Ghz but I need to bump my vcore for it to be stable. Now I set the multiplier at 17 and FSB at 212 and I'm able to get 3.6Ghz without increasing the vcore. Maybe u should try to play with other settings as well. |

QUOTE(cllee86 @ Apr 21 2011, 12:07 PM) But ur so lucky, manage to unlock ur 555 to quad core. the extra unlock cores is depends in ur luck bro ... as mine can unlock the extra 2 cores without no prob ... it would be great to see how far the potential of extra cores can go ... My balls are not strong enough to take that risk |
