Hi, which motherboard should I get if want to unlock a Semprin 140? Any cheapest. I know it is more towards luck to unlock. Does the Asus M88 USB3 works? It's website spec has a big unlock logo. Many thanks.

As for the mobo any mobo with unlock function can be used, the asus can, gigabyte almost all can, even MSI also can smile.gif

U want cheapest even Asus M4N68T-M for RM190 has this core unlocker thingy smile.gif

Many thanks.
@cloudwan , i still here la, just not into overclocking since the demise of Duron. Sorry for the typo.

ASUS M4N68T-M V2 | N7025 | D3-RSVGL 190
^ if this one has 6 SATA port, this will be the best.

ASUS M4A88T-M/USB3 | A880G | D3-REVSGL 340
^ actually leading towards this model

The price different is like RM150, hmm, hmm.

LowYat don't have much AM3 board to offer sad.gif

Any other recommendation? Considering my budget can span over below RM350. Many thanks in advance.

U want with builtin GPU or no GPU??? I'm not taking any oc'ing performance here but here's a list of cpu unlockable mobo, everything should be below RM350: hmm.gif

If no GPU got a few:
Asus M4A87TD/USB3
Asus M4A77TDPro
Asus M4N75TD (Got SLI)
Gigabyte MA870A-UD3
Gigabyte MA770T-UD3
Gigabyte MA770T-ES3
Gigabyte MA770T-US3
MSI 770-G45
MSI 870-G45
MSI 870A-G54 (USB3)

If with GPU also got a few:
Asus M4A88T-M/USB3
Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H
*
Thank you, I think I go with the GPU one. So Asus M4A88T-M/USB3 is the better deal right? Hmm, hmm.

Well it depends, both have their similarities & their pro & cons hmm.gif

Similar points
1. Both are mATX mobo
2. Both using a mix of 880G+SB710
3. Both have 4 ram slots
4. Both have 4+1 phase

Asus pro:
1. It has 6 SATA ports
2. It's TurboV software is much better to me than Gigabyte Easytuner
3. It has USB3
4. Tho come with 4+1 phase it supports up to 140W cpu's like PII X4 965
Asus con:
1. No Firewire
2. No eSATA

Gigabyte pro:
1. It has Firewire
2. It has eSATA
3. It has floppy connector
Gigabyte con:
1. Does not support up to 140W cpu
2. No USB3
3. Only 5 SATA ports

thanks for the difference, i think I can live without Firewire, eSATA. Will choose Asus, now hunting where to get it cheaper.

Hi all, I am back with AMD machine

CPU: Athlon II X3 440 (Unlocked to Phenom II X4 B40 blush.gif )
Motherboard: Asus M4A88T-M/USB3
RAM: Mushkin Essential 4GB

It seems to be stable for 5 minutes with Prime95, on blend test, and 15 minutes in-place FFT.

Thanks for the recommendation, especially to @cloudwan

Hmm, what to do now? beside running torture test? Thank you.

Edit: Decided to go with X3 440 because it just RM218, Sempron 140 was RM98?. 4 core at RM218 is a steal for me.

Sorry to hear that. Did you install those Belkin surge protector?

Yeah, Sempron 140 for a dual core also worth it. But I think better spend another 100MYR or so. Just in case wink.gif.

What the usual stability test , Prime 95, OCCT? any others. Thanks.

mitodna,

u just use single ram or double? how's the mushkin oc?
*
why Mushkin? It was the cheapest at that time wink.gif

i use single only, if I OC I don't dare to touch RAM, may be just OC CPU brows.gif
should I OC the timing, will post the timing later tonight

hmm, I think I am going to stick with B40 stock, I tried "Test-Mode" overclocking mode, it increased everything to 215MHz, RAM at 700MHz, can play around windows stable > 1 hour, but I did Prime 95, upon it minimize to systray, I am unable to bring it back up

/offtopic: what can GPU that Seasonic S12II 520W support?

Can support Radeon 6850 (AMD web said 500W ) or GTX570 (Nvidia said minimum 550W sad.gif )?

Hmm, hmm, what should I increase performance (I mean decrease wink.gif ) gradually for RAM timing? Below is the Mushkin Essential 4gb.

Hi, my latest trial on X3 440, it is using unlocked 140W , awful high

222.1MHz*14.5 = 3219.8MHz @ 1.424V , also translate to 140W

Mushkin 4gb 1 stick, essential memory.

@cloudwan , no idea man, I think it is Auto voltage by Asus. Want to unclock this. 140W is scary. Super PI 1M just below 30s.

@cloudwan @kuntawakaw @usop8290

the board I am using is Asus M4A88T-M/USB3 , I just notice I can't under voltage via BIOS. This is strange.

I think the bottleneck is my RAM (Mushkin 4GB essential), I am sharing it with the built-in GPU.

Spec: X3 440, Asus M4A88T-M/USB3, Mushkin Essential 4GB, Seasonic SII 520W. No GPU.

@cloudwan , latest status, it seems that anything after 13*250 = 3250MHz will BSOD, still can POST, but can not even tahan 10 minutes on Prime95

Now I am on 13*250, while posting this.

On your hint:
1. Hmm, I saw that option, I leave it default
2. How can I see the mode? For the voltage, I can only press +, press - will lead to auto. Hmmm

I don't think much problem on this, just slot your ocz in the same slot colour and mushkin in another same slot colour.

By the way, how much you got for your Mushkin biggrin.gif
