Hi bro, if the measurement does not match, not advisable to buy, as laptop computers are rather high precision equipments, probably that HP drive is a customized size, some manufacturer like to do that so that the users have no choice but to buy the so-called "original" replacement parts

So it is like I earlier suspected in our PM correspondence, it is a custom size (it does not look like 9.5mm neither), luckily we have a "sifu" like you here. It looks like HP Compaq very fond of doing "customize", earlier I know they like to put BIOS whitelists for their various hardware, now this size thing add to the list.

Hi bro, as you have indicate interest both for 9.5mm and 12.7mm version, please indicate which model you intend to have (or both?) so that we can correctly calculate the total due for you.

I am using aspire 4736, if not mistaken, yours should be using similar optical drive like mine, i.e. 12.7mm SATA, but as there are too many models of laptop in the market, we can't know it all with 100% certainty. However, as a general note, almost 70% and above of optical drives in the market are of 12.7mm thickness type, the remaining, which comprise mostly those from IBM/LENOVO and certain Apple laptops uses the 9.5mm type. Of course, another important aspect to check is the caddy interface, which most of the modern ones are SATA.

The only way to make certain which caddy is suitable for your laptop is to take out your optical drive and compare it with the specs we provide in the listing. We strongly recommend our buyer to do so because in any which way, you need to make sure you know how to take out your optical drive if you plan to use this HDD caddy, so treat this as an essential practice to ensure you know how to replace it when you got you OBHD caddy later.

Not to worry, normally it is rather easy and involving merely the job or removing 1 or 2 screws, try to google or search in Youtube with your laptop model by adding the term "remove optical drive:)

As long as your interface for the original CD/DVD Rom is sata, and your 2.5" HDD is sata also, then you are good to good.

Price is as stated, and that is the best we could do hope you understand.
