Eh, went to KLCC Maxis center, was looking to buy one outright for my hotlink prepaid. Unfortunately, according to the sales guy, outright purchase will only be allowed Jan of next year, possibly even later if stocks are still selling out!

Furthermore he says that Maxis will stop supplying to other traders like machines etc so the only way to get it is through Maxis, and via contract. Sure enough, I checked the machines store in KLCC. They've taken down the iphone displays, said they are no longer selling.

Any truth to all this or is this sales guy full of it?

Man was so looking forward to getting an iphone, may have to go Android now sad.gif

Eh, probably doing it because sales too good... so guess customers are too loyal? Hope they don't turn to AT&T and go permanently Contract or GTFO sad.gif

Anyway, will check maxis and machines @ Pavilion tomorrow to see if there's any truth to this. Keeping fingers crossed...

Hi all..I would like to ask to whomever knows regarding it.

Does Maxis let me outbuy the phone from them without any contract?.or there's still need a contract if i want to buy the phone only from them..

TQ.. (i hope this question of mine is still within the context of this thread)
*
No, Maxis no longer accepts outright purchases, at least at the few that I have checked (Pavilion, KLCC, Times Square). Will only be available for outright purchase next year.

However I have found that epi-centers or machine stores sell them outright, try those. They have less stock though. And don't believe any Maxis guy telling you that these traders are no longer going to sell iphones any more, they are LYING THROUGH THEIR TEETH hoping you'll get a contract (assume they have commission?).

Great... between lying staff and pissed-off-for-no-reason managers, Maxis is really really digging their own grave at this rate.

But unfortunately people like me don't have any choice if we want to buy outright, since digi doesn't sell them outright last I checked. Sigh, I'm so turned off this business.

Well check the road show for it, otherwise bye bye iphone 4 cry.gif

From @MaxisListens twitter: For Hotlink users, they can buy the iPhone outright & rec free 500MB x 12mths. Price for 16GB is RM2290 & 32GB is RM2690.  blink.gif

When did that message show up? All the maxis centers I've been to unanimously said that prepaid users can only get their iphones outright in January.

The Machines staffs and Managers will be helping out with the upcoming roadshow along with Maxis staff at klcc, so since stocks would be aplenty you guys should go there and get it from the roadshow rather than queuing up at the maxis centers very early in the morning and get sent back home with nothing.

Hopefully they will allow prepaid outright purchase... am planning to check it out on Tuesday.

Maxis themselves have confirmed that it is indeed available for outright purchase, and Prepaid users get free 500mb per month for 12 months. However, a lot of sales people will deny it and try to con you into a contract (I guess they get commission for each new contract?).

I'm not sure if they plan to allow outright purchases in the roadshow tomorrow, I'll be there to check.

anyhow, I heard that if we buy iP4 outright for prepaid, will get 500mb data plan for free for 12 months... is it true?
It's true, confirmed by Maxis themselves at #maxislistens. But bear in mind that Maxis customer service folks will lie to you about there being no such deal, or will only happen in January etc.

Anyway, I'll be going to KLCC at 12pm, hopefully can grab one quickly within my available lunch time. If not I can always go back Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, ha ha... biggrin.gif

Perks of working near the place.

Though I got a feeling that it won't even reach my turn if I queue up for one hour, bleh.... tongue.gif

Damn this is getting ridiculous... don't these people need to work? Or are they really taking leave to buy a friggin' PHONE? Cause there can't be that many rich or retired folks who don't need to work tongue.gif

Oh well, hopefully they will have more allocations later today, or tomorrow.

Maxis twitter said can outright purchase and they say can't? What noncense is this.
my boss want 2 unit, he don't mind signing up plan but he don't have time to go himself.
Plan to get another set for gf too.

Maybe go queue at gardens better.

I just came back from there as well, can confirm what he's saying. Basically allotment is only 100 units (not 150) per day, no restock. Basically all taken up before they even open... so their advice is to come at 7-8am and camp until they open at 10am. Well, thankfully I'm not THAT desperate.

Just for kicks I asked a few maxis cs them about outright selling.... it's hilarious, they ALL have different explanations!
a) Maxis changed their mind this morning, #maxislistens hasn't been updated yet
b) #maxislistens is not an official channel
c) Outright sale models already sold old (WTF? LOL)

Hell, one guy even told me that 12 month plan is selling out, asked me to consider the 24 month. No really, he said that. 12 month plan can actually sell out. rclxms.gif

Oh, one more thing. They have lots of sales folk, but there's only about three or four guys doing the activation and setup. Dunno if they'll bring in any more later, but apparently according to one guy I asked (who's been there since 8am), they've only processed about 15 out of the 100 guys. That's at 12pm, two hours since they've opened. He's no. 72, so he's complaining like hell.

Man, Maxis just doesn't know how to run a roadshow.

All the MEPs I've asked, the waiting list is about 1 month. I'm going to keep trying the Maxis Centers, I'm sure I'll eventually be able to get it before that.

they allocate 600 units for the KLCC roadshow. 150 taken up today. So the remaining 450 will be redistribute equally for the remaining days. Thus no need to kecoh2 also, Maixs will be able to sell all 450 units during the remaining roadshow days at KLCC.
*
Actually, from what I was told from the folks over there, it's 100 per day over the six days.

And it's only for new contract only, no outright purchase.

And you need to be there at 7-8am to start queuing.

And expect to stay there till night time, there's just 2-3 service folk doing the 100 activations.

No wonder Maxis hid away the roadshow dates, it's a total disaster as far as I can tell.

huh? the longer the period since launch, the greater the demand? thought that demand wouldve fallen by now..

i mean, i queued up outside Maxis KLCC on the Monday immediately after the official launch (3 days later)... went there at about 8am, and i was still top-10 in the queue... but now, almost a month after launch, 100 people already at 7am??
*

Well, Maxis promised that they'll have a lot of stocks so conned a lot of people from all over, some from out of state where there's low stock allocations etc. Unfortunately, to Maxis, lot of stocks = sold out two hours before opening every day tongue.gif
