i think, it is not.. although nokia stay put on symbian for smartphone, it got its own pros and cons. some ppl still prefer symbian.

for basic use, it is ok lor. want to feel a bit of touch screen, but still want keypad it also got wifi

most ppl would say android (even myself). both android on the list comes with capacitive touchscreen rather than resistive on c5-03.
the nice camera part, definitely no galaxy 5. the camera is worse. don't know about optimus one. c5-03's 5mp is not the best though. no AF, no flash. IMO, for everall media centric player, c5-03 score better than those 2. both low end android phones was soo low end.. (less pixel, low body quality, low camera quality) so, IMHO, if u got a bit less budget, better spend on symbian although the UI is not to be considered as the best. but it is usable

try have a look for nokia C6-00 it got AF. but no carl zeiss the camera is quite descent

not comparable to bb curve IMO within that range, ori, is OK lor. but camera no AF.
btw, if u want buy bb, bb curve can also within that price, with smartplan. in case u need the BIS and BBM

since the android OS is not a must, your friend should seriously considered nokia N8 if he really serious about photography.

HTC aria. or better, topap around 100, can get AP HTC desire. way better

if camera is your preferences, X6 is better than X8. s60 is bit laggy though.. if u don't mind the absence of AF, with budget up to 1k, better get newly symbian^3 devices, C6-01. UI is way better than bit old S60

just so far, stuck forever on 2.1 (well, if it is android, there is lots of custom rom out there ) no multitouch so far (SE is working on it. but dunno when..) and SE lack of support to their sold phones.. but sure, X10 is super phone. just lack of support from SE makes some ppl did think many times to buy it.

well, if your friend's budget fit X10, better get the X10 rather than X8. it is a great smartphone. 1GHz, 4" screen, 8mp+AF+hd record. android 2.1 this can be fixed by using custom ROM though

SE X8 vs nk X6: UI, X8's android wins. camera, X6's carl zeiss+AF wins. X10 wins both no AF is not major though.. just preventing the camera to be used in macro mode. photo taken from 2m upwards have no problems. but photo quality of X6 is better. if your friends want better quality, X6. but since the priority of your friend's is UI, better get the android,X8.

serious about camera? if yes, N8. if u are heavy gamers+apps everyday, iphone.. (iphone got better UI, but not much customization allowed as on your previous 5800)

all is dual sim stanby. sorento is full touchscreen phone. not a smartphone though. and got 3g active for one sim (if i'm not mistaken). most ppl did buy C3222 it is full qwerty for heavy messenger. but no 3g. within your budget, u can try the slider C6112. no 3g

so far, what we concern is, there is no windows marketplace for apps in Malaysia. so, windows7 phone in malaysia so far need to live with only pre-installed apps.
if u want great camera, sure must get N8. if what u want is bigger screen, suggest u to get desireHD instead HD7 for now. (bigger, should be galaxy tab/ipad )

can try CSL spice Mi300. though CSL brand, the hardware is actually same as moto quench and got quite a number of custom ROMs too out there

I have bad experience with slider so, might be bias here if u can tolerate with not so good camera of X2, IMO, it is better than all.
*to be honest, zylo is quite solid there. but slider always got a ribbon problems. and, it still use SE fastport (i hate it to the max)

X8! vivaz is nearly dead.. no more support from SE. it's camera sure is nice, but, it will remain as that. no bug will be fixed.
X8 as android always wins on apps, including games. the screen size is 0.2" less than vivaz. but it is enough to be honest.
strongly suggest u to put side vivaz. unless the HD record can mask away the lack of support (dead) and very soft loudspeaker
apart from these two, if u can up your budget up to 899, can get optimus one. it is better IMO. with android 2.2

erm.. can ask further at android section I myself is unsure about the definition. so, afraid that i may deliver wrong info to be honest, X10mini is soo small.. IMO, i don't really comfortable with the size.

best for u to go for android. HTC HD used older winmo 6.5 which is not really great. why not try HTC desire which used better android platform there? windows7 phone also still lack of support to our country, such as no market for Malaysia currently..

u want customization? avoid iOS.. with your budget, u can get AP HTC desire. or AP motorola milestone (if u want keyboard, and the screen is larger to desire by 0.2", sacrificing processor power a bit)

bettr top up a bit, get AP SE X10 for nicer cam. u can get LG optimus one for less than 1000. but the cam is so-so..

both did not support web flash and of course X8 IMO better than X10 mini, except for their camera, X10 mini did outperform X8. but did suggest u to topup just a bit, can get super smartphone X10 8mp+HD record, 4", 1Ghz. in anyway did better than both X8 and X10mini.

it is ok. but since u want wifi b4 in the preferences... I only not favoured SE phones for the fastport only.. if and only if it got 3.5mm... (since it is newer slider, can expect it to last longer than previous maybe..)

all u mentioned b4, X8, X10mini, all used android. and of course, stable. if u favoured more, there are lots to looks for (custom ROMs etc. well, u know, android )
