QUOTE(TrutHatHand @ Feb 24 2011, 10:45 PM)
questions:

squat: its my 1st day of doing squats with a barbell and with back is straight the whole time... but after each set i feel my lower back worked as well, is this normal or i've did it with bad  form?

clean: 1st day doing this also, i felt my wrist is being stressed when the bar is on my shoulder. Sumtimes after the pull i will loose balance forcing me to take a step forward. Ways to avoid this?

Squats: yes, normal for back to feel worked. the back is acting as a stabilizer msucle when the weight is on your back. so it will get worked somewhat

clean: no idea mate.

Maybe doing this with standard barbell is the reason, summore... the guy is using ez bar. When doing clean, the weight will rotate, and this is solely absorb by the wrist. This will be somewhat reduced for olympic bar since the bar can rotate. smile.gif

now i`m getting serious. before, i just workout at home with a gym station that my dad bought. i NEVER had a chance to do barbell deadlift, barbell squat, ect. just using a 30 kg dumbell. and now, it feels light.

got a new gym opened near my house. it just a small gym. the membership is rm 100/month. what do you guys think about the price? ok ah?

You can curl 30kg dumbell and it feels light? It seems very impressive to me...

I dont feel it is weird or confusing. Even to someone who have the ability to train everyday... sometime, need to take rest also, in the long run, this kind of guy also will experience muscle fatigue. For newbie and intermediate, 1 day exercise, 1 day rest is normal...

Darklight always call it... recovery.

5ft, 6ft, 7ft barbell have different weight. Weight for olympic vs standard is not the same. My 7ft is not even 20kg, it is actually 17.5kg (yup! cheap barbell weigh less).

Unless you go and weigh your barbell yourself you never going to know whether it is a true 20kg or not...

I own a 7ft olympic barbell and I weigh it 17.5kg. Although it is troublesome, I have to put 2pcs of 1.25kg plates to even it out to 20kg. My lifting total also must be adjusted accordingly all the time. It is a minor inconvenience, but if you have a competition grade barbell or bought it from big company, it cost more... quality barbell can cost good money.

It will potentially explains why ones will have a lower poundage in the gym compared to in home (assuming gym is not using some cheapo barbell too).
