Eagerly waiting for your negatives to be developed and how it's going to turn out is the most fun part in shooting film.

You can slow down, relax and enjoy looking through every shot that you have taken with passion and much thoughts, rather than scrolling in memory card folder like mad after taking 999999 shots and none of it gives you the satisfaction.

As a hobbyist, you're not rushing for passing up photos, so why hurry?

Finally got to test my Yashica 124 over the weekend, quite impressed with the results. thumbup.gif So far I'm using a compact camera as my lightmeter and also a bit of guesstimate, the exposures turn out to be ok. thumbup.gif

pentax me or pentax mx? which you prefer? coz i wanna pair my k1000 wit another pentax body.
*
If i were you i'd pick ME or Super programme, since you have a k1000.
Reason? I like the convenience of AE mode in ME and SP...the electronic part is not fragile at all, hardly hear ppl complaining about it, a highly regarded camera in pentax community and forum.
My friend has been using his ME for many years and never got a problem with it, even tho it has been heavily used.

It is totally unfair to call ME a disposable camera,
it is much more solid, overbuilt and durable also less expensive than an overpriced plastic lomo camera (no offence but that's the universal truth)
I think the latest DSLR are more prone to failure.

Pentax MX is also a good, tough and extremely well built camera but they both offer different features and function, so you can't compare apples to oranges.

Bottom line, both cameras are equally good, well built and durable,
pick ME if you like AE function but with sacrifice of manual mode
pick MX if you like fully manual camera.

sharpness is not important actually, as long as the shot is not blur, it is okay. The softness that the lens gives on film looks definitely better than on digital, try it and you will find softness with a little film grain sometimes contributes very nice feeling to your portraits, extreme sharpness would spoil it instead.

ASA is equivalent to ISO in digital. If you wanna nail the exposure correctly, get yourself a hand held light meter with incident reading, in that way you can nail the exposure precisely for every shot.

If you're worried about slow shutter speed, get a flash, that's the most practical way to freeze motion. Photography is all about light, you can't do anything if there's a lack of light.

light meter, Android and IOS have apps to do so right?
yup i noe to get a flash...but kids photography i try avoid to use flash...
*
Yes, but not as accurate as dedicated light meter. The best metering is still a hand held spot meter, but it's not cheap.

Avoid only if your kids are newly born babies. Slightly grown up kids should be okay to use flash.
Other option is get a fast lens, f1.4 or f1.2 but you'll get very shallow DOF, or get pro film and push it to 1600 or 3200 during process.

sigh... tat day shot some digital for a fren's nikah...
turns out real bad.. most of the shots all blur... dunno wat happen to me..

wonder is it the lens or not?
a 50mm canon 1.4 LTM, how do i check whether the lens needs calibration or its just the user pasal? sad.gif
*
a lot of factors that contribute to blur shots.
Get a kodak or fuji 200/400 and do test shot with it.
I always do it with my newly acquired lens.

It could be caused by slow shutter speed and hand shake under low light,
or subjects' motion.

Aiks, my nikon 35mm f2 af-d aperture ring got problem...
when i turn the ring the aperture wont close.
so i have to give cheah camera service ?
or any other place can service as well
*
I personally vouch for Ving Son, he charges much less expensive than Cheah's camera, i went to Cheah also but the charges are really expensive and he said the price will go up next year.

Ving Son is more specialized in repairing nikon and hasseblad, he can also repair other SLR/RF/TLR, he still got a lot of original Nikon spare parts.

Here's a little bit of background of Ving Son, he was sent to nikon tokyo for receiving intensive training and became the head of servicing department at nikon malaysia back in the old days, now he's retired and accepting repair jobs from Shriro and his customers at home.

He's a very nice guy to talk with, chit chatted with him like an hour when i first met him.

kodak filed bankruptcy but products still remain available in the market, just the ownership changed to the debt collectors.

They seem interested in continuing to operate and reorganize Kodak and cut down the unprofitable product lines, i believe film business is still profitable but no longer the major source of income.

Not according to Kodak  shakehead.gif .

Info here.

p/s - Note also the 73% decline in number of employees. It definitely ain't business as usual if you get laid off.  cry.gif

Film division still makes money but certainly not enough for operating such big company with so many employees. Kodak should shrink down their company and focus on their core business in order to continue surviving. I guess they ran into bankruptcy is due to the debt which they borrowed big sum of money for investing in digital division, and that was a big mistake.

I shot a roll of expired neopan 400 with my nikon F last year.
It turned out not bad, but more and bigger grains than fresh bnw film.

See the four BnW photos at bottom on the first page.
