Nope mate smile.gif Cheapest Yamaha is RM2.8k, the Gigmaker if I'm not mistaken.

There are a lot of Pearl Exports floating around for that price, take a look around smile.gif

how good is the quality of the pearl exports?
are the precussions decent?

The Pearl Exports are pretty decent I'd say. Up to the end of the production line about a couple years back, they were the world's best selling drums smile.gif
Actually, I believe from the midrange they're already pretty alright smile.gif Stage Custom biggrin.gif

The Tama Imperialstar is alright for a starting set, as long as you change your heads.
*
i wouldn't mind getting the Tama, but i can't afford to change the precussions and cymbals to new ones. cry.gif

what is the best drum kit for around that price, right out of the box,no need to replace anything..is there anything like that?

You mean WITH cymbals?
Well, the Pork Pie throne is bleeding expensive.

Hmm.. I'm thinking about getting a 14x5 Vented Pork Pie myself this year smile.gif

Hmm... Most new sets don't come with cymbals. you can check out the Pearl Soundcheck, and I could throw in a set of Zildjian ZBTs, Sabian SBRs or Meinl HCSs for you and a ride and a crash stand.
*
how much would all of that cost roughly?
because my best friend also wants to get his first kit smile.gif

That would cost you about RM2.5-RM2.7k? Estimate. Could be less. But definitely not less than RM2.3k.
The Hyperdrive is the most common Superstar there is these days, the major differences are that, the Epic's bass drum sounds much bigger than the Superstar, and you get to tune more ranges, as the Hyperdrive toms are very shallow.

Soundwise, both are great, and the Superstar packs a real punch with snare, and the Ludwig toms just sound extremely musical.

I won't comment on the Epic snare, as I sold my Epic snare to Jimmy (of Tempered Mental) before I even tuned it.

The Ludwig, is much more value for money (at almost RM 800 cheaper) than the Superstar in my opinion, and the finishes are also much better.

Of course, the Superstar mounting system is the same one as the Starclassic one, but the Ludwig comes with extremely sturdy bronze hardware.

I've used both the Superstar and the Epic relatively much and while both are great drums for the price, I find the Ludwig just that little bit more musical, that little bit better looking, and that little bit more versatile than the Superstar.

I'll post my Epic review later on.
I believe it will be a good starter kit. Yamaha's quality control is really good, as well as their customer service, so you will be receiving a quality product.

Once you save up enough to change your heads, it will definitely sound better.

RM2.8k isn't including cymbals, but it includes hardware. Do PM me for a special price if you're interested.

AhBoy, if I'm not mistaken, that ride pop out after the previous Yamaha sale. We've previously discussed fake cymbals and most of us here is yet to see one.

Anyone interested of buying a black mixed 7 piece entry level kit? Might open up a sales thread soon, just letting you guys know in case anyone here is interested.
