anyway....im a beginner n just start learn play drum 2-3months ago.thinking of getting my own gear,at 1st lookin for acoustic drum but after read all the threads here seem the e-drum not that bad as a beginner for me in purpose of get my skill 1st.

seems u guys less talk bout yamaha drum....
need opinion here from the gurus here,as beginner is it worthy if i invest for yamaha custom stage or go for other brand n model for my 1st kit which not that pricey?my teacher not helping me much as she keep promote me custom stage n the fact i am yamaha student duhhh...but custom stage sound great as i only tried with 3 dffrnt drum model so far (dont ask me wat model coz i can remember) huhuhu

myb coz i start with that model so make me fussy with the sound (ngengada la pl hehehe) rather develop my foundation skill 1st.my teacher said YSC can cost 6k for birch 5pieces (price for yamaha student she claimed la) but plus the cymbals+throne it can up to figure u said huhuhu

n yea,my concern i might stop playin it (wish i hv strong will...chaiyok for myself).u hv idea how much others yamaha model (cheaper standard than YSC) can b?any around 4k ka for basic 5pieces?

or u can generously recommend me any brand n model at any reasonable(+cheapest) price that suit for beginner that:
-need 5pieces,HH,CC n RC only
-material:wood n skin used less concern as long can produce good sound
-main purpose is for practising
-in practical wise....i think can b arrange if its acoustic set (grin with evil face lookin at my bro's unused room hohoho)
-if possible come with on site tutorial how to tune it wahahaha this can include in request ka? blush.gif

We don't talk much about Yamaha's cause they're pretty much above everyone's price range, but they're good.

Rudy of Pop Shuvit is selling is (Oak?) Custom at 9k.

The Stage Custom is good smile.gif Its really good. But are you sure you want to invest so heavily so quickly?

I know a guy who bought a DW as his first kit (8k) and stopped after 6 months.

agree bout the e-drum coz its totally gv different feeling hitting it compare to acoustic hehehe cool2.gif even i just try 3 dffrnt models so far it does effect my mood to play n yea im lookin forward to customize my own gear when i 'affortable n capable' LOL

but e-drum seems hv advantage on me.im not keen on the recording funct (for now) but the environment.now i just practise by hitting pillows n my mum still can hear from next room doh.gif imagine if i hv acoustic drum for real...cant imagine actually huhuhu plus im thinking practise using e-drum at home n bang acoustic during my class ngeh3

If you go for E-drum then you cannot try out the acoustic tuning and changing the stuffs lor. nod.gif

But you can record the stuff you play, set a volume and you can choose what type of kit sound you want in an E-drum. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yamaha Stage Custom? Never heard of it, I've played a Rydeen kit before, after changing the heads it's so nice. wub.gif
A lower grade first kit is okay, it's just that you have to fork out money if you wanna upgrade a kit. nod.gif

AhBoy? Aw *blush* LOL !

Well, low end or high end, it depends on the way you judge it, price wise, performance wise, etc.

For me, every drum kits that is around 4-5k ++ is medium high to high end already. nod.gif

But try not to limit your view to just Yamaha. I suggest brands like Tama, Pearl and Ludwig. I still trust these brands most. nod.gif

hahaha...funny la u.that was refer to a LYN member name AhBoy tongue.gif but if u want i can call u with that name n real AhBoy dont mind hehehe naaaa,i gv u new name la franklooi...'DrumChai' want meh? LOL

i really dont want to limit myself to Yamaha but i hv limited source here.i wish can hear n look other brand of drum for real but i dont know any other drummers here (my friends more to guitar n keyboard) plus i myself dunno if Sandakan hv music instrument shop here beside my music school huhuhu cry.gif any LYN mmbr from here ka or Sabahan maybe?

ok,let says for Tama, Pearl n Ludwig....what current model of them will suggested for beginner?is Mapex ok?saw its black phanter snare kinda cool drool.gif but dunno how the sound since all sound record of it on Youtube i heard was horrible...blame on the recording device i guess huhuhu

She's wrong. Retail price is RM6k, which is why I can get it for you for RM5.3k.

The Yamaha Gigmaker is RM2.8k.

Even though I'm not AhBoy, I'll give a short explanation.

Some of the main differences are

- Type of wood. Take note that even though a low end drum may say they use maple, it may not be the same type of maple that is use in say for example, Tama Starclassics. Different maples, Canadian Maple, American Rock maple and Chinese maple have different tones, quality and durability.

- Mounting systems. The Tama Superstar Hyperdrive utilizes the StarCast mounting system that is used on the high end Starclassics, allowing for more sustain and more burst.

I'll elaborate more tomorrow as I have to go now. There are a few more points that I'll add in later on.

its ok,the question is for all here...yea,i know n understand bout what u mean on both points as i did read bout it somewhr but ur explanation more simple n easy for me to understand notworthy.gif i believe each brand hv their own mounting system (which i prefer call it as technology) this is awesome, cant wait for u to continue on others point hehehe

5.3k sound good but i now feel its too high for beginner like me huhuhu i think i'd tried play Yamaha Gigmaker before...the sound just so-so for me but myb if i just want to use it for practise it can b a good beginner kit.wat u think isaac?that 2.8k isnt include cymbals rite?
