Do u live in hostel, apartment or house? I played in a super small hostel last time and my irritated next door guy will start whacking the paper thin wall to irritate me back laugh.gif

How do I put this. Can I say that getting an e-kit as your first kit is detrimental to your development as a drummer?

Not at all.. Sure there will be difference in play but its minor. When u adjust to an acoustic kit, you dont need to relearn a whole new instrument. The only thing people who play ekit lose out on is how to adjust the acoustic drums, tuning and hardware related stuff.

Nicely said. I'm with you in this one.
Unfortunately, dynamics is very important. E-kit opens up creativity and variety in term of sounds but fails to replicate the dynamics of acoustic kits. Its best to practice both regularly.

E-drum is good but boring. You can hear the rubber sound more than you can hear the drum sound. The annoying tek tek sound drives me up the coconut tree to commit suicide. I rather connect the e-drum to myself and shout out the beat myself. But if you play it with high volume and a good amp, different story. Might as well get the real thing.

Cheers.
Ok bye.

Thats old e-drum technology.. the rubber tek tek sound and low dynamics.. Current ekits, are less quite, because they use mesh pads and other materials.

Dynamics can also be played by adjusting the sensitivity. Its now just hit 1 time then 1 volume come out..

I would say both are similar but not the same instrument... e-kit are better in a sense many sounds can be programmed, so its more like a high tech stuff..

while acoustic drums have more feel to the playing and all parts of the drum can be played hence more sound creativity

Like u said playing both will be the best smile.gif

fifi85's vid blush.gif

I record and listen back whenever I can. It's part and parcel of practice.
Other than that I use weights too, and mirrors... whenever I can la tongue.gif
Drum is pretty much physical so it should be tackled with the mindset of an athlete.

Not necessarily. You may just need a good headphone for drum. cool.gif
To me, E-drum is perfect for home studio.

Edrum+Guitar+Bass+Mic ----> Mixer -----> Headphones

I can enjoy late night band practice with my friends while my wife watching dvd.

ohayo drummer-drummer sekalian biggrin.gif this is my first post in this forum hehe!

i'm thinking of learning drums, planning to buy some affordable beginner drumset. smile.gif i've read through 17pages, see lotsa comments on edrum/acoustic drum, but i'm still quite confused. would appreciate more advices. ^^

questions:
1. is learning with drumbooks a necessary? cause i dont plan to go for classes ^^
2. any good beginner drumset pricing rm2k-2.5k? preferably edrum, i'm sharing house with other mates smile.gif (2nd hand drumset is okay too ^^)
3. is beginning with edrum really detrimental to my learning? T_T
4. planning to go kl next month to buy drumset, but what should i check on to see if the drumset's good? ^^

^^ i have limited budget for now but really hope to get advices from you guys. hope to become a great drummer one day wakaka.

thanks in advance. biggrin.gif

In my opinion,

1. It is not necessary but will be VERY helpful to your learning process
2. for edrums is more difficult to get at that price. Maybe 2nd hand but still need look around. For acoustic i think is possible
3. I dont think is detrimental but if you are able play an acoustic kit with no problem go for it. E-kit is for people who have no other choice or as a a practice kit during late night tongue.gif

woot woot, thanks for your kind feedbacks smile.gif)

Hmm first i think youtube will be where i'd go often for lessons, then drumlessons.net . hahaha.

i googled lotsa brands & models, very confusing and yes the prices are mostly 3k+ :s ...
how about Traps A400? is good stuff? ^^ looks really cool.
i see one beginner acoustic drumset Misha Jaguar, price was 1.4k .. kinda okay. but consume places alot... dont have much place in my room,
any other suggestions which model i should purchase? ^^

if u wanna go for ekit, roland and yamaha are the top brands but expensive. Alesis have been quite for sometime as well.

But if u plan to go further than just playing, better get a good ekit so that u can adjust to acoustic easier next time.
