Michaelbyz23,
Initially I thought you were describing it as soft muffled chucking sound, which is very normal in IS lens, which has this sound increasingly in effect of its focal length. But I wasn't expecting such loud sound which sounds like glasses are in direct impact with the lens body(?). I only had Sigma 18-200mm OS that has OS and is Sigma. It does have noise when I shake, but doesn't sound like that. Similarly to my 70-200mm f4L IS, it is very loud, but does not sound worrying.
------ steven789, IS should be off when you mount on tripod, unless it is the new generation of image-stabilized telephoto lens that does work on tripod for panning.

Theoretically you do not need IS on tripod.

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Oct 6 2010, 03:49 PM) Ya lar.. giler mahal for a Sigma. But buy L just for red ring also not worth it lor. 17-40 only f4 and no IS 24-105 not wide enough for crop + heavy Aikss... decision decisions.... But L gives very nice colour and the right amount of contrast. You can expect consistency in its image output.

QUOTE(khairi83 @ Oct 6 2010, 10:10 PM) hi all, want to ask something to all canon sifuu... eos 1d mark iv only can support ef lens? if ef-s lens how?? cannot?? i've read review about it...and most of the review mention that only can mount with canon ef lens... also, can this camera use with third party lens (sigma, tokina, tamron)? sorry if i ask silly question. i'm still new in photography and decide to jump to canon.... about 1d mark iv.....just question it....bcoz my friend decide want to buy it... some very rich fren...hehehehe EF-S lens is only designed for APS-C camera. Anything larger than that such as APS-H and full frame camera requires EF lens. 1D4 is a APS-H camera. EF-S lens have a notch with does not allow the user to mount it on APS-H and full frame. Third party lens, no problem.

Sounds good but we can't really judge when there is only little 60D for sale. There are chances that it would be even cheaper when every sellers have the stock.

How can the viewfinder prism get scratched so easily? I once used to touch it so much from outside and inside the camera also no scratches (but focussing screen was badly scratched).

Oh, then I think it is the focussing screen right above the flipping mirror? That one can get scratched by any thing. Even microfiber cloth is too rough for it.
I got mine replaced in Canon for RM15 only.

QUOTE(LilRazor @ Oct 8 2010, 09:55 PM) how long did it take ? thinking to dropping by tomorrow with some servicing too xD the one inside the camera ... maybe i used the wrong word >.< Took 1 day (next day) for me. That time I have CPS. Added on October 8, 2010, 10:04 pmQUOTE(kyoupiruchi @ Oct 8 2010, 09:58 PM) Hello everyone. I am in a dilemma, and I need some opinions. I am debating between a 500D and 550D, but not sure which one to get. I'm going to use the camera for semi-casual macro shots. Food, flower, jewelry, smallest objects maybe around 8mm. Not so hardcore to go shoot small insects like ants. I know about the extension method with 50mm f1.8 lens. But I just don't know which camera is better, 500D or 550D. I am kind of on a budget as well, which is what making me think twice about the 550D. I'm just wondering if 550D is really needed/necessary for semi-casual macro shooting. If your budget can spare for 550D, go for it. Otherwise buy 500D and better lens and also lighting set up. In macro photography, it is your set up and skills bring more important than minor difference in camera capability. This post has been edited by mengsuan: Oct 8 2010, 10:04 PM

When someone touches the inside of camera while changing lens, the sensor is still being protected. What is exposed is just the mirror which does not affect anything. Added on October 8, 2010, 10:40 pmQUOTE(kyoupiruchi @ Oct 8 2010, 10:17 PM) Would you say this is good? Macro shot of earrings with point and shoot. I'm getting a DSLR because my point and shoot's battery cover broke, and now held close with cello tape. And it sometimes 'hang' also and will need to take out battery to reset. Quite annoying to open and tape back cello tape. Fix will be over RM200... might as well invest in DSLR. So shooting-quality wise they are both almost the same la? But I heard that 550D do better in low lighting right? How low can a 500D go until it fail to capture things clearly? The photo is decent but isn't impressive. While many compacts offer super-macro kind of feature, DSLR usually require macro lens do shoot closely with high magnification. You will need to allocate some budget on macro lens or at least, close up filters or some sort of things. I assume your macro photography are done in controlled environment. Why do you need a camera with better low-light performance? You will probably be having lights illuminating your subject very well. But since you're considering deeply into 550D, I believe you do have the budget to spare. Get the 550D and you might find it useful for other usage as well. QUOTE(chinkw1 @ Oct 13 2010, 12:20 PM) Bro, camera shop i go a few dont have only the lens tissue leh. They sell whole set cleaning kit Lens tissue is effective in removing oil residues, possibly better than microfiber cloth, which is easily stained with your own finger oils before you even use to wipe the lens. However if you use lens tissue in cheapskate (keep on wiping without changing tissue) way, the tissue will break into lints and you will have to take all the trouble to clean again. Hence shops don't sell lens tissue: 1. Professionals think lens tissue are cheapskate because they break into lints 2. Cheapskates still think lens tissue is expensive But there is always market catering for professionals. You shall be looking for "Pec Pad". It is lint-free wipes, even Canon use something similar.

If you're shooting and processing in sRGB, there should be negligible change after uploading to flickr.
