QUOTE(nwk @ Dec 22 2010, 09:11 AM) Use eyes watch. I also have an older Sharp 32" with 100Hz. No difference. The newer Quattron LED 100Hz does work though and is pretty good.TS: The 550M can be bought for RM2K i think. I bought a 500M recently, same as 550M but no media player. Only RM 1.9k. Buy the cheapest model you can get without all those useless feature, then save the money for a dedicated media player like WDTV Live. The 550M/500M support 1080p/24, which is very important for watching HD mkv movies. Make sure you buy a media player that support 1080p/24 like WDTV Live. If not, then you'll experience juddering. QUOTE(trapezohedron13 @ Dec 23 2010, 11:07 AM) Like i said, those old models 100Hz are USELESS. No difference. You can go to the shops and make sure the settings is on (or maybe they have split screen demo mode). See if you can tell the diiference. This post has been edited by Matrix: Dec 23 2010, 11:19 AM |

QUOTE(trapezohedron13 @ Dec 23 2010, 11:27 AM) no la, just asking only cos thought maybe u not aware of the on/off thing as i also didnt realise until check manual. still sense some sarcasm in ur reply... hmm. I guess you didn't read properly....i have a 32" Sharp with 100hZ Finemotion. I watch HD 1080p on it everyday. Can split the screen somemore in demo mode. Absolutely ZERO difference. Same goes for all those old 100Hz Fine Motion. Motion tech, doesn't matter if ur source is HD or SD. Even SD can see difference if it works (albeit with more motion blurring and pixelly dots..maybe even looks more horrible with it on then off). If you want REAL 100hz Motion that shows significant difference, go for the new Philips HD Natural Motion, Sony's MotionFlow or Sharp's LED Quattron with 100Hz.imo those demo display source cannot be trusted...and some shops using just dvd-upscale component input, might not stretch it to the max. ownself hav ori bluray player, hdmi, ori blu ray and good movie to test only can judge. And yes, i am still sarcastic...don't be a lazy bum and expect an answer in a forum and get ur lazy arse down to the showroom to test it yourself. |

QUOTE(leng2 @ Dec 26 2010, 01:26 AM) ok... frustrated cuz could't get my xmas tv today. Bravo! That's what i'm trying to tell all this while...the older 100Hz/120Hz in Sharp model does NOTHING. And it has nothing to do with the source. There is no source with 100Hz or anything like that..all movies are in 23.976fps..(SD materials are in 25fps or 30fps). It just that the old technology is not that good. Actually, you can notice a little bit of difference, but only when you stare very hard and long enough to compare. The difference is too insignificant to worth the extra RM300++ to RM500++ for the same specs with no 100Hz.....here's the thing, i was out to hunt for a motion-interpolation-enabled tv, so i decided to get the sharp's 40le820m, that quattron tv. went there, bargained the price and got a comment from my dad that dun need to spend so much on a tv. so i asked for philips 40pfl5605, got a good price, but the boss said it's made in china and he for one been in this line for so long also don't trust china's quality. fair-enough to me, so i checked out the sharp's 40l650m which states that it has the 100/120hz. they dun have a display unit, so the boss asked his boy to get one from storeroom and we demo'ed on the spot. i couldn't notice any 100/120hz in it so i asked em and they said it's auto-on. not convinced, i asked why i don't get to see that soap-opera effect and he said it depends on the source. after trying out for sometime, i apologize to the boss for the trouble and opening a brand new unit to demo for me but still not getting it. but i told him i'd buy from him once i check out the tv at shopping mall. and so i went to ikano's harvey norman to check out the tv's. after some research, i found out that what the boss said was true, sharp's 40l650m tv support 100/120hz but it has to depend on the video to be 100hz content or else the motion quality is still the same as the other lower end tv's. quattron's case is diff cuz it has the 100/120hz feature on/off'able. if turned on, the tv will enhance the playback (by creating new frames to create the soap-opera effect), unlike the 650m which requires the source in order to utilise the soap-opera effect. so guys, do take note of this if you're getting the 40l650m model. and as a conclusion, i'm eyeing on the lg 42ld650 which has the interpolation feature (at 200hz). not the best but couldn't expect much from a price like this... This not only applies to Sharp older models, other brands also have useless 100Hz which doesn't do anything....best i saw is Philips HD Natrual Motion, Sony's MotionFlow and Sharp new 100Hz... Good luck hunting ur TV!! |

QUOTE(joejee @ Dec 27 2010, 10:40 PM) Bro, i have just bought philip LED 40PFL5606 during christmas at RM2,800 add RM200 for 5 years warranty...hehe...no need to care about the durability issues... Those motion flow things are meant for movies, to create interpolated frames, not for gaming purpose. For gaming, it'll just make it worst by introducing lag.Previously, i was struggling for which LCD, sharp 40 inches 50 hz and 100hz at RM1900 & RM2300 respectively. Being testing my PS3 for the both 50 hz & 100hz. You know what? No difference at all. Then i was attracted by the Philip LED, the graphic is damn nice among the other brands especially the HD motion...the best, obvious difference. I think the LED got little bit of 3D effect...the picture looks like 3D. No regret buying it even though it's expensive....nvm...it's for 5 years...haha... |
